Name spelling

Hi everyone,
I'm expecting my first baby in about 8 weeks, a boy according to the sonographer :)
One fairly recent addition to our list of names is Tadhg - which is an irish name pronounced like Tiger without the r (Tige).
I've fallen in love with the name, but i am worried he will always have to spell and pronounce it for people. So i'm wondering if we should spell it Taig or Tighe instead. Any thoughts?
Also - i'm hunting for a middle name, i'd like to find a dutch name if possible for family reasons - but nothing too unusual as Tadhg is obviously unusual enough :)

Our surname is O'Brien - so I'm not keen on names ending in O or N

DD went to kinder with a boy named Tadhg. I'd never heard the name before then but it's lovely.

I wouldn't change the spelling of it to suit other people. But then I prefer traditional spelling over the new 'phonetic spelling' as I call it.

It's pronounced Tige, like tiger without the R on the end.

I think automatically of the the Sydney Swans now former footballer.
He may have trouble at school always prounouncing it or spelling it but hey people will get used to it.

Thanks for the replies - Jenjams - that is exactly what DH said about the swans player - not a bad remidner given we just lived in Sydney for 4.5 yrs :)

I have a friend with a little man called Tadhg.

They have been really surprised at how many people actually know how to pronounce it - If you love it - go with it - :)

Its totally up to you how you spell it. I have to spell out all 3 of my kids names, only 1 is different.
Suggestions though - Tyge, Tygh, Tige

I agree, keep it authentic. I have an Anglicised European name which was altered to make it more pronouncible but I wish it was left as the traditional spelling. Think of it as preserving a heritage.
