i would like one but i dont understand why second hand they sell for nearly as much as a new one why is this????? any advice help why this is so or where can i get them bar from eBay cheaper? I don't have room for my high chair in the kitchen so was thinking of getting one.
I don't know!! I can't figure out why there are so expensive new anyway? What a rip off. I got mine with the tray on special for $77 woot. I also bought a highchair that sits on a normal dining chair, for $50. By the looks of it, that will work better than a bumbo, because you can't safely tie the bumbo to the dining chair. I hope you find something nice and cheap :). FWIW there are two second hand baby stores in Strathpine that you can check out.

Never really got bumbo either (looks cute with all hte patterns available but looks a bit unsafe)
I got a winnie the pooh one from aldi which you strap onto a chair. It has padding as well as can recline. Maybe check your local aldi (if they still have them)
It was $49.99, but i got mine for $29.99 becuase they were getting rid of them.

We got the Fisher Price one that straps onto a normal dining chair (initially onto a taller breakfast bar chair) and it can be hosed off when messy ;) Compact and very versatile. Look for it on special.
Look on eBay for a Bebe Pod (by Prince Lionheart), they are like a Bumbo, but seem to sell a bit cheaper second hand :)
I had a bumbo chair for Jack, it was wonderful when he first started using it, but as he got a bit bigger it was a bit restrictive and i wouldn't recommend it as your "only" high chair, it is great to take out and about though.
We have a "Fisher Price Space Saver" high chair. It just straps onto a dining room chair. It is one if the best thing we have ever bought! It has a really high padded back which is really supportive, and the back can be removed for when they are older so it is just a booster seat. I got it on special for $99 from Babyzone. My SIL managed to get one on special for only $75!! I have seen them on ebay as well, but can't remember what they were selling for.
I wouldnt worry about getting a bumbo to use all the time. Byron loved it when he couldnt hold himself up steadily and it was great for a while but now he is too strong and throws himself out of it (i've sinced packed it away for the next baby).
I didn't get the bumbo either until I got one! Then I realised why they are so wonderful, and why I still have mine in the garage for the next babies. They are AWESOME! Totally stable, there is no way Ash could tip it, his weight holds it down. They are great for some mummy time and he would sit up and watch yo gabba gabba for 20 minutes, eat in it, keeps him off the floor if i'm trying to vaccum, it was perfect for laying his toys around him cos he could still reach them. I could rave about it all day :) I paid $90 plus $20 for the tray and I would spend it again in a heartbeat.
yeah i love ours too. i didnt get it as a feeding chair at all, i got it to put bub in as she cant sit by herself yet. i just pop her in it when ihave things to do like washing, or put it out the back when i am playing outside with my older DD. or put her in it in DD1s room so they can spend some time together and i can go and do other stuff. i got mine on sale for 50 bucks, i think i might try and get the tray to put toys and stuff on.
We got our Bubmo from Big W for $47 and that is the price everyday, it wasnt even on sale. We dont have the tray though. It is very safe and both my boys loved it.
The bumbo is great and safe IF it is used on the floor. I would not use it on higher surface.
What is the minimum age to put a baby in a bumbo? And at what age were they getting too big? I never had one for my other 2 kids but am considering one this time around as everyone seems to rave about them - they seem to be the new "in" thing.
you cn use them from 3 months or when bub has good head control.. not sure what age limit it is up to though. wow, thats great about Big W having em for $47 cause at toys r us they are usually 80 bucks!
I rang big W here they don't have them at all.
They only sell them at the baby shop in Hobart, none of the big chains had them (target, big W, Kmart...)
Ashton can still sit in his but he prefers not to these days now he can sit up on his own, and I used it from around 3 months.
DD1 used hers until she was 2! She tried to squeeze into it when I was pregnant with DD2. DD2 loves it as she can't yet sit by herself but can sit up and see what's going on in the bumbo. We actually have her in it on the table while we are eating so she feels part of the meal. Obviously we supervise her closely. It is also great for going to the beach as you can wedge it down into the sand.
I was lucky to get a Bumbo with tray from my SIL. But I found that my DD never really liked being in it, so I could only use it for a few minutes at a time and she learnt how to get out of it pretty quickly. I think I got about 2 months usage out of it.
