So what went wrong, or not to plan, on your wedding day?
Just wanting a bit of a list for things to watch out for.
Finally convinced myself that not everything is going to go 100% to plan, but that I probably be the only one that will even notice anyway.
Throw them at me girls...

i bet you've done heaps of planning for The Big Day.
Whatever happens, you will be married by the end of it, and that is the whole reason for the wedding isn't it? to be married to the person you love.

I woke myself up at 4am this morning because I suddenly remembered that I hadn't organized for anyone to pick up the balloons and deliver them. Could have waited until morning, but nooo I had to get up and write myself a note to organize it when everyone else was awake at a decent hour. lol
Oh I will look back on this and laugh at how stupid it all is.
keep a notebook by your bed
each time you think of something, sit up, lamp on, write it in notebook
it's written down now
so you can sleep, knowing you will have that notebook to refer to in the morning

weddings sound very stressful to me!
my ZIP on my dress broke!!! Yes my $2500 dress that was professionally (sp?) made broke the day of my wedding! half way up too, so I almost couldn't breath when they tried to get it off me. Yes I laugh now, & did find out that had a bad batch of zips & it happened to several poor girls around the same time. Though funniest part of the story, 2yrs earlier at my sis wedding we decided to try on our bridesmaide dresses that night for fun & YES my zip broke!!! small town, so mum rang the dress maker & said "you will be here to fix it 7am whilst we get our hair etc done"...all done no worries. So when it came to my special day Mum made me buy a sewing kit :ROFL: and we actually had to use it! the photographer thought it was great, he got some great pictures.
Apart from that it was a great day & I'm sure your's will be everything you want it to be & more!
...we had a carpet snake try to eat the food...
oh and scrub turkeys invaded the ceremony...
but we loved it!
The cd started skipping as i walked down the aisle and they had to turn it off, so I had no music... double check your cd's ;)
My dad got sick and couldn't walk me down the aisle, but that was unavoidable.
Ds chucked a massive tanty at the start of the ceremony, also unavoidable but try not to miss a day nap with your munchkin!
My nan has a theory that something is guarenteed to go wrong, so it's best if it's a little thing that happens early on in the day. So if something does go wrong, just breath a sigh of relief that the worst is over with and there will be no more hiccups from then in :)
Hi cheeky monkey are you getting ready at home? Because I didn't and that ended up a real pain. I had things in three separate motel rooms and I was running from room to room searching for things. Bridesmaid and mother were of no help.
Just if you are getting ready at someone else's home or a hotel room make sure you bring all you need and have it with you.

My mother :rolleyes: was more concerned about her hair than mine and ended up getting me to the hairdressers' late! (didn't really matter, but I was p!ssed off)
Got ready in a hotel room, but came back from hairdressers to find that friends had forgotten to leave key at reception.
My veil fell off its hanger, didn't discover until right before we were due at hairdresser. It wasn't too wrinkled, but Bridezilla came on out and had a fit!
DH decided last minute not to wear shoes. I was FUMING! (only because I was the one who'd wanted to go barefoot and only didn't because of HIS mother!)
But they all sound so stupid now. We had a fab day, we are happily married, and a LOT of people said it was the best wedding they'd ever been to.
Nothing went wrong on mine!! It was perfect!! So that could happen to you. I was waiting for something to go wrong, lol.
Our wedding day was over 40 degrees!! So we were all soo soo hot...made for some great photos tho including ones of me standing on charis getting ready with portable fans blowing up my dress to cool me down!!:lol: I had to have water in the church too to stop me from fainting (church had no aircon!).
Also one of our pageboys didnt make it down the aisle as he got scared but what do you expect from a 2.5 year old.:rolleyes:
But other then that a great day!
best piece of advice i can offer is to not sweat the small stuff on the day. yeah, it's inevitable you'll be stressing up til the day BUT - if you sweat the small stuff you won't enjoy yourself - and as much as this is a "public" declaration of your love, it's a declaration of YOUR love - so YOU and your DP need to enjoy yourself!
on the day, we had DH's extranged family try to sabotage our reception (thankfully the reception venue fixed what they'd done). we didn't find out til the next day
ummm, the only thing that really happened (and made everyone giggle) is that DH's fly broke just before i arrived - so his fly was gaping the whole time! thankfully i didn't notice - and someone managed to find safety pins for him (we got married only just up the road from home, so all that stuff was accessible). i spent the rest of the day helping him in and out of his trousers when he needed the loo though lol
make sure you have drinks with you - you never know what the weather will do - the weekend before our wedding was atrocious, the weekend after was horrid (to the point of flooding out this way - in FEB!) - our wedding was almost 40degrees! have water and a straw (to stop lipstick smudging) - and EAT - don't want to be passing out from no energy!
well we got married in fiji.
only slight hiccup we ahd was my flowers didnt arrive till 5 min beofre cereomny so we ran late as my photographer insisted on getting ncie shots fo teh flowers before the ceremony lol..
nothing to ruin the day at all - but we actually had a fair bit go wrong, some I didn't even find out aout until later. Nothing worth worrying about though, and almost all worth a bit of a giggle.
1) The organist was playing the wrong music walking down the aisle.
2) I had a beautiful veil I had picked out, and I totally forgot to put it over my head before walking down the aisle or in any of the photo's.
3) The groom, groomsmen and priest were all talking football and didn't notice the procession coming down the aisle until the flower girls reached the front.
4) Me knocking over flowers and other funiture when going up to sign the paperwork.
5) SIL disappearing with the flower girls and page boys before we could get photo's taken.
6) Same SIL standing in front of photographer when he was trying to take pictures of the cake, and of us cutting it - she was trying to take her own photos.
7) Wine and champagne not being served to the bridal party table (I didn't notice this as I wasn't drinking at all, due to still recovering from my bachelorette party two nights previously).
8) some issue with some of the food - but I cann't remember what or who had the problem.
9) People rearranging the seating plan - which was fine, except that we had colouring stuff, etc for the kids and it wasn't until later we were able to find some of it for them.
10) Bridal dance - I think DH may have been a bit tipsy, he kept on trying to get creative and kept stepping on my dress and even caused me to fall over and land on my butt at one point.
11) Apparently my three younger sisters requested the chicken dance and were very put out because the DJ refused to play it for them - Didn't know about this until the next day.
12) All the girls boquettes (sp?) fell to bits at various points throughout the day.
13) There was a misunderstanding with the bar staff and the alcohol tab (probably because my father and my FIL didn't know what the go was and they decided to 'fix' things).
I am sure there was probably more (actually I know the boys had quite a few hiccups involvong rings and buttonholes, etc, but they weren't my problem :) ), but it was a great day and all of my rellies and friends still tell me that it was the best most fun wedding they had been to. I think you just have to let go of the small stuff, because there is a point where it doesn't matter how much you planned somethings are just out of your control on the day. And honestly does it really matter anyway???
Oh yeah another thing make sure you know exactly where you are going to have the photos taken afterwards because we went driving nowhere for about 45 mins and ended up taking them in the middle of the road
Make sure you relax when having your photos done. I look very tense in my mine even though I'm smiling - the shoulders give me away!!

Pfft! I'd have told her to Jam it! XD DF is wearing anice pair of jeans when we get married, and his mum is horrified... but he's still wearing them!
My way of thinking is that it's only time to stress if the groom doesn't rock up ;)
Wow. Did you send her a thankyou card? "Dear SIL, Thanks so much for helping to celebrate our wedding day. We were truly blown away by your special gift, and we will treasure that photo of your backside forever." :lol::
I hate when people do that - take their own photos when the photgrapher is doing it - that's why there's a professional there FFS! If you really want a photo of a particular scene, ask the B & G for a copy when they get them! (personal vent)
Oh, and while I'm at it, when there's disposable cameras on the tables, and NOOBS use them to take photos of the first dance, or cutting the cake or something else lame. Yeah, people, the bride and groom really wanted 12 shots of exactly the same scene, with 11 of them being substandard quality and one professional :rolleyes: The best one of those I ever saw was when someone arranged allt he garnishes on their plate into a smiley face and photographed that :D
Speaking of people getting in photographers' way (I have vented about this before) at our wedding there was this chick that I didn't even invite - who first had to be asked to move as she stood in front of DH's parents at the ceremony (don't forget, not even invited) and then stood in front of my grandmother in the group shot. She was just there as a friend of a friend who ahd nothing better to do on the day.
