Which do you prefer and why?
I find I like singlet suits as that way there's at least one thing I can keep tucked in, but they do make checking nappies more difficult. But under some things, a singlet suit just isn't convenient.
What do you think is more comfortable for the baby?

I use a combination of both..
if DD has a t-shirt or long sleeve top on then i use a singlet suit so she has something covering her up in case the top rides up or pants down etc.
If she is wearing a long sleeve bodysuit then i use a singlet so she doesn't have multiple sets of buckles.
Under her wondersuits etc i just use whatever is available at the time.

I love singlet suits and have not used singlets since DS was about 6 weeks old as they always seemed ride up and make a lump behind his back.
I dont find singlet suits to hard to check nappy as I will lie him on his side and have a look in side.
Some tops do show more of singlet suit but I would rather him be warm and comfortable.
yeo i go singlet suits all the way - for both of my boys.... i hate when they ride up and they get a cold tummy otherwise..
I used singlet suits on DS for winter so that something was always tucked in. I found with cloth nappies tho they made them leak and then it was a pain to have to take off the singlet suit.
DD.. I just didn't use singlets at all LOL. Never saw the point of it with DS either.. only did it cos it seemed the thing to do..
I pretty much do what Avasmum does - it's a singlet suit with pants and t-shirt, but a regular singlet under a body suit or all-in-one. I just hate dealing with multiple snaps (unless it's a set of overalls... I just can't seem to get the balance right between my singlets and singlet suits and never seem to have what I want! Guess I need to wash more...
The question I forgot to add - do you find your preference changes as bub gets older and more mobile? I'm half figuring that once they can crawl/walk and tend to spend a bit less time being picked up and carried that the riding up issue isn't going to be as much of a problem, but I could be wrong. Obviously the switch from singlet suits to singlets will have to happen before TT - but is there some point before that where singlets suddenly become easier?

I'm a singlet suit girl,cos of the no-riding up factor, I just like to know that his little back is covered.
Checking a nappy is rarely a problem, my nose usually knows very quickly :lol:
I must ask.. cos I've never understood it.. hence why I didn't bother with singlets for DD.. why do they need singlets? What is the purpose of a singlet?
Oh and I'll say that singlets last a lot longer. Don't think I ever bought bigger than 00's cos I could get away with it.. whereas singlet suits are useless once bub gets too long.. if that makes sense.
Woops.. I tell a lie.. I did use singlets on Kayla for a couple of months during summer.. but not under clothes, just to get about in coz it was hot.
We use mainly singlet suits here too (I think we only have 1 normal singlet). Being in Tassie in winter, it's cold enough that we don't want to have any of DS's skin exposed. I don't find them annoying for nappies changes. However, if a nappy leaks it means the singlet suit has to be changed too, which can be a pain sometimes.
During the summer I think we'll probably use singlets a bit more, cause it will be warmer (and I'll want to show off my MCNs, lol).
Actually I lie I did use singlets in summer when DS was only in nappy and singlet.
Liz, I think it's just an extra layer of clothing to keep bub warmer.
For Sam's first summer, we didn't have singlet suits, so just tended to put him in a body suit without a singlet. We didn't have air conditioning and it was far too hot for anything else!
I also find that with singlet suits I get less up the back poo leakages... I'm still yet to decide whether it's worth the trade off in slightly more out the legs poo leakages, but I suspect the run we've had on those is due to a sudden growth spurt which has left me with a longer, skinnier baby.

If i wear a singlet for DD, she ends up pulling it out of her pants and itching her whole body.
She has eczema.
Singlet suit is a saviour, but i agree, harder to change nappies on a wriggly toddler!
Singlet suits, coz they dont ride up.
The only times DD wears singlets is if its really hot then she only wears a singlet & nappy, or if its really cold & she has a nice long sleeve T on I put one underneath so I dont have to cover up the T
I use singlets, cause I cant/could never get DS to lie still long enough for a button up... And in summer, DS just gets about in nappy and singlet, which I think is real cute.
I also found at night if I used a singlet suit it would get wet from compression, so switched to the singlet and it stopped (to a point)...
I was a HUGE fan of singlet suits for DD because I didn't like her having a cold midrif. But she was always a long baby and they didn't last very long for us - we got more life out of her traditional singlets. I found the Best & Less singlet suits were better length wise for DD - got more life out of those than Bonds.
I think they are supposed to keep you warm in winter, cool in summer. My mum made me wear singlets until i was in high school. :redface::
I use bodysuits as singlets mostly.
neither at night right now because lilone has scrawny shoulders and her chest gets cold. Using those short sleeve button crotch bodysuits because they come up higher and theyre thicker. Both singlets and singlet suits in her draw for warmer weather/day though
Not here i'm afraid. The riding up seems to be just as much of an issue. He climbs up an down things and going down slides and ...some days i feel like i carry him as much as a newborn :doh::
And Melbourne is a little colder too.
So, still using at least one item (singlet or long sleeve) that does up under the nappy at 17 months.
