The elastic in my Itti AIOs has seen better days and I want to get it replaced. If I were to take them to a local seamstress, assuming she hadn't seen cloth nappies before...
a) would she be able to see easily how to do it?
b) is there anything important I would need to point out?
c) what would be a fair price per nappy?
d) do I need to tell her to use a particular elastic?
Any help with this would be very appreciated as I love my Ittis and they are still going strong in every other way.
Could you contact IB themselves? They might replace them for you :)
Some MCN makers use lastin. I think they all use something slightly different to each other from what I've seen.
I would either contact IB themselves, or perhaps ask Maz if she has enough time to replace the elastic for you.
The local seamstress will most likely know nothing of cloth nappies and IB themselves will be happy to do it for reasonable price

Just got a reply from Itti and they don't do elastic replacement so I'm back to the original plan. Can anyone hazard a guess as to a reasonable price?
ah dang lady you know me to well :lol::
their pretty easy to fix....cut a small slit in were the elastic starts in the little 'channel' top and bottom (start and finish or front and back of leg)
get some 6mm swimming elastic from Spotlight and a small safety pin.
Hook saftey pin on the elastic end. thread the saftery pin (with elastic) through the small slit until you reach the top slit.
Pull out the saftey pin, and with the sewing machine do a few zigzag stitches to fasten the elastic in place slightly, then pull the elastic as far as you can through the bottom slit and sew until you reach that slit.
Gosh does that make any sense at all???? :doh:

Gosh Maz, thanks, that almost sounds easy! I could probably even do it... lol
But does that mean the original elastic is not sewn in? So I wouldn't have to unpick it to get it out?
no just leave the old elastic there hon....sew over the top of it. It is really easy once you do one or 2. you'll find most big brand multi manufactored nappies have elastic that has been sewn on the ends...its perfectly normal and there's lost of nappies out there done like that. thats why they have elastic casings as such IFYKWIM
Ive fixed so many IB's, baby beehinds and bum G's this way and it really is simple and quick...go for it I say...YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
