CSA Question

I am really really peeved right now. Okay as you know I am now a single parent - have been for a while. The FWEXH usually pays his CS late. He pays through the agency because before I did this he wouldn't pay at all.

He has a debt to me. It's only for $500 but that is my girls ballet fees for the term and their costumes. The FWEXH won't pay any extra for anything. I don't even bother asking as I'm told there are 1000's of single mothers coping just fine on much less than "what I GIVE you"... He fails to understand that the CS he pays lowers my FTB part A to a very low amount. That our children were doing these activities before he started playing hide the sausage with my friend etc etc (yes still a bit bitter! :redface:).

Anyway the debt. CSA phoned me this morning to tell me he has arranged to repay the debt at an extra $80 per month until it's paid.

This man is on close to $150,000 per year. PLUS cash bonuses that he doesn't disclose.

Can anyone tell me why this is okay? Why it's okay that he is allowed to do this?

I feel so so so close to blowing the whistle at all his under the counter payments. Shoud I?

Sounds like the dipstick deserves it.
they are running an ad here for TT about "dob in a dirtbag" - they are talking about losers who graffiti buses, but I think it can apply in this instance quite suitably.

My friend has been screwed over for the year too. She recieved NO cs last financial year, so his tax was paid out to her. Obviously for last financial year her payments were lower coz he was supposed to pay a certain amount.
Anyway, he has been nice this financial year & paid whats owed for 09/10. BUT coz she got his tax from last year & it was paid in THIS fin year, its classed as this years income. So she's lost $150 a f/n.
How is that fair? What about all the money she lost last year when he wasn't paying? Is that just forgotten about?
Anyway...bit of a vent that drives me nuts, coz she's really struggling & apparently they aren't reviewing again til Jan '11 for some reason. :dunno:

Yep i would report it to them :) My ex is the same he works in the mines and knows how to hide a lot of his income he also owens a home but put it in his mothers name so it doesnt show as his asset i reported it to them......he got busted big time!!! He would pay the morgage on it in weekly payments to his mum via net bank and they traced it at. If you have any thing to back up what he is doing or any info that can help them i would call them and ask.Why not.

My ex see's it the same as well that he earns it why should i get so much it dont take all that to raise a child......but thats not how they base it they base it on if he were here what would he be spending on the child(also with account of course of what it does coast).

As for getting rewiews clover she can request a review if she has a good reason like change or circumstance ect

i would report him - but this is a decision only you can make as you take into account the impact on you and your family. will he know for sure that it's you doing the tip off (is he stupid enough to let others know?) - if he KNOWS it's you, will it then be something he uses against you with your kids "no, i can't do that for you, your mum got me in trouble so i don't have so much money now" etc

if you think it's something that would be traced to you, can you get a friend to do a tip off and ensure that it's very generic (while being very specific lol) to make it seem like they have the details but are vague about numbers etc to keep you out of the firing line?

any money that was deducted from her payment for the financial year that she didnt' receive is paid back at reconcilliation time (so tax time) - there is also the option to ONLY have your payment impacted by what CS you receive if you have an irregular payer...

No it can only be from me. It would also mean his company (he is the GM) would be questioned. They give cash payouts for cheaper prices etc. That's why he gets cash bonuses. I am not sjure how to handle it. But I am fed up matey I am so flipping tired of the way he is screwing my kids over. He's happy to drop off and pick up her kids at our school but not prepared to pay the fees for my kids to go there.

BG why is it though that CSA will just accept he pay the arrears at such a minimal amount each month when he is on a high income?

there are minimum and maximum payable amounts i believe. which sucks big time! either that, or he has put forward what the case manager believes is a reasonable repayment amount. if he has an income but can justify why he can't pay any more than 20 extra a week (even if it's complete BS)... sucks. you can call up and appeal though i think. talk to them i guess

I've appealed LOUDLY! They are looking into it. Why oh why oh why does it have to get to this! :angry: I just don't get how you get from A to F&*&*& in such a relatively short amount of time & with precious Beings in the middle. Aaaaarrrrrrghhhhhhh. I think my blood pressure has maxed out.

i'm guess the A to FW in such a short time is because he knows he has you over a barrel. he can't emotionally abuse you in the normal ways, so he's doing it this way - one way or another, he's still farking with your head. the kids are collateral in his eyes - this is just another way he can get to you cos he KNOWS you put your kids first no matter what

:hug: Shouldn't the amount he owes come out of his tax return or doesn't that happen because he has made an "arrangement"?

If it's under the table hun, I'm not sure they can actually do much about it. I've seen some blokes minimise their incomes so much via their businesses...one just never put in a tax return. You might have to call ATO as well xoxox

My ex owes me in excess of $15k. I was told he would not be allowed to leave the conutry until his debt is repayed as it is a long standing debt. His facebook page just a few months ago shows some wonderful pics of him enjoying a fun filled holiday in Fiji. Nice for some.

When I called CSA they told me I should have made them aware of the fact that he was going overseas and they could have taken measures to stop him... yeah right, like he is gonna tell me he is going on a holiday overseas! He has also been to New Zealand twice. There isn't much more that I can do but keep living my simple yet happy life with the people I love... it is so much more than he has right now. And I am more than happy about that!

Yes, report him! The earlier the better it can take CSA years to catch them or reconcile payments. My ex hasn't paid CS for 3 years and when his tax return adjusts the payments back up he rings and says he has lost his job and earns under 18,000 which means he gets away with paying noting! It has been 3 years and ca hasn't reconciled his tax with payments, apparently there are over 220,000 cases unreconciled in Australia.
