Hi Ladies,
My friends wedding is in 3 weeks. My bridesmaid dress was chosen without me trying it on. Needless to say, it doesn't fit me.
Do you think it's possible to lose 5kg in 3 weeks?
I've been sort of following Tony F shake diet. I think I need to do it by the letter now to see real results.

It is possible. You will have to follow the program to the very last letter and maybe add in some extra exercise.
Otherwise i suggest telling your friend that way she can come up with other arrangements, is it possible for her to grab the next size up for you??
ETA: And i know what thats like. I purchased a dress off ebay and it was a tad too tight. I managed to lose a few kgs but it was still tight but i just wore some shapewear which seemed to help smooth my lumps and bumps and made it bearable to wear.
Any chance they will change it for you. We were able to do this when my DD was married and one of her bridemaids lost a dress size. She was walking to and from work and drinking alot of water.
:hug: hun, not your fault the dress was brought to small. You shouldn't have to lose the weight, especially in three weeks. Is it possible that the dress can be adjusted?

That. Although I'm sure following the program to a T will get the results you want, it might be hard seeing as you're already not a big girl, you don't have HEAPS to lose, kwim? I hope they can change the size, otherwise the shakes and shapewear!:

Unfortunately I've had the dress since March and it's been hiding in the bag since I got it. I tried it on once at the Brides house. I said I'll lose the weight!
I've had the weight loss graph on the fridge for 17 weeks now. The wedding should have been the biggest motivator but I hide from it all.
Coming back from the hens I decided I better try it on and I couldn't do the zipper up :redface:
So I better get my arse into action. Walking before or/& after work. And stick the shake program. And find the perfect body shaper. Fingers crossed.
I once lost about 6kg in three weeks, BUT it was on a Slim Forever diet, which is naturopath-prescribed and requires a lot of will power, at least initially. The basic points of the diet are that you remove all wheat, potato, rice and dairy (other than cheese and yoghurt) from your diet and load up on protein. My meals were basically meat, eggs, cheese and some basic salad vegetable most of the time. It worked - I lost about 10kg over 8 weeks in total, BUT I need to point out that the naturopath monitored me the entire time and it's not recommended unless you haven't got any underlying medical issues. I was also taking protein shakes, which had some multi-vitamins in them, and were not used as meal replacements, rather they were a supplement. Snacking on almonds helped me overcome the sugar cravings.

and you will probably gain back double once you eat again. (I had/ve an eating disorder, and have great difficulty maintaining my weight now, and Ive been 'cured' for 12 years.)
Have you tried yoga, pilates and weight training, to help slim and tone, rather than lose weight?
Where doesn't it fit you exactly? Around the bust, waist?
If I were you I would go and find a good corset, a cincher if it is the midsection that is the problem. You will need to find a real corsetier, not like one from bras and things or something, but a proper corset, steel boned, but it will easily take you in enough to wear the dress for the day without the unhealthy aspects f having to lose weight - which you may not lose from the place that is preventing the dress from fitting.

Either way though, you need to tell the bride.
The dress could also be altered to be a lace up at the back, so you can wear it that way, but bride will need to know where you are at.
I ended up getting mine altered as no way was it going to do up around my lactating boobies!
Take it in to an alterer for a quote, I think I paid around 80 dollars and they took material from the hem and sewed some new panels under the arms so no one could see
They had some ridiculous show on TV a while back trying to get to a size 0 in some insanely short time.
One of the diets (the only one that didn't make the girls sick) involved some stuff I can't remember, but the main meal of the day was a bit of lean meat no bigger than the palm of your hand, with salad or veggies. That and a small serve of oatmeal for breakfast, nuts for snacks and a smaller version of the main meal for lunch should get off some serious kilos.
5kgs can be done - ditch the shake diet though.
Exercise (one hour each and every day) and limit your calorie intake (websites like calorie king will give you an intake if you enter in some information).
Honestly it is a hard slog, and I've done it myself - and was stoked I did it on my own.
Alternatively you could get some shape wear? It'll take a dress size off of your body ;).
I was going to say similar to Leesa with the exercise.
Whenever I have had really good weight loss weeks, it has been because of exercise. Also exercise will help tone you up which will take of the centimetres which is what you want. The shapewear will also help take off cm.
Give yourself 2 weeks and if it looks like its not going to fit then take it to a dressmaker to be let out. Make sure you try it on at the end of each week with the shapewear on to see how you are progressing.

Oh no CBG! What a dilemma. I totally understand that you don't want to talk to the bride now 3 weeks out from her wedding and ask her to make any changes, no need to stress her out. I like Limeslice and Appletree's advice about getting the dress altered.....I fell pregnant AFTER the bridesmaid dresses were bought (so I did it knowingly) and was almost 30 weeks pregnant at the wedding. I just got a panel laceup insert put in at the back and from front on, it looked exactly the same as the other girls. From behind, I actually thought mine looked nicer - LOL. Just a warning though, the adjustments cost me $150 - ouchies. But much better than starving yourself hun.
my plan of attach would be:-
1. see what can be done with suck-it-all-in shorties and bodice.
2. let the bride know that it needs altering, if 1 doesn't solve it.
3. lots of vegies and water and lean meat in the interim ...
while it would be tempting to do a full-on detox diet or mastercleanse or a quick stint of aitkins or a shake diet or similar, I wouldn't want to be doing that while TTC, preggers or lactating, just because they can muck your body around a bit (and it's easy to get sick after doing them, and I definately wouldn't want to risk being sick for the wedding!)

Just got back from a walk with the doggies, tracked my walk on my phone using 'iMapMyRun', very clever app. I managed 3.06km in 27:21 mins. Calories burned using average use assumed = 150.
