I am not a fan of Tobias, so I picked Isaac!
Issac is ny choice here, I love Toby but not Tobias.
Isaac is too popular for me. I like Tobias- esp. the NN Toby.

I picked Tobias with the idea maybe Toby will be the nn?
I say if you love the nickname just go with that name. We are going with a girl's name that we absolutely love the nickname of, but don't like the long name quite as much as the nick name - if that makes sense.

My philosophy is to put the full name/traditional name on the birth cert and just call the child the nickname from birth if that's what you like :) That way, when they're adults, they might have an easier time of it if they want to 'grow up' and use their 'full' name instead - eg William/Billy, Katherine/Katie, kwim?? I think for things like job interviews etc, employers are more likely to take an application from an Elizabeth more seriously than they would a Bethie, but that's just me. I personally am Donna-Lee on my birth cert and was known as such until my late teens when I insisted on 'dropping' it, now everyone just knows me as Donna and I'm much happier with that :) I like both Tobias and Toby so no worries there!
Love Isaac!! I suggested it to hubby but he said no :( I have never heard of Tobias, but Tobi is a cute nickname. I personally wouldn't choose it but it's unique :)
ITA. If he loves Toby just go with that...not everyone has a name that is a 'proper' lengthenable (sp? ;)) name. My name is just Kim, not Kimberly and my DS is Nate, not Nathaniel, because we preferred it by itself and can't see the point....:
