I used a spray cleaner on our marble benchtop and when it dried it had lots and lots of spots where the cleaner was and now it has stayed like that. I have tried washing it off with lots of water but nothing is happening. DH even tried rubbing alcohol but that didn't work either. Any suggestions on what I can do? Stupidly I didn't read the bottle until it was too late where it said 'do not use on marble...' :(
Which cleaner is it? I think if it's an acidic one it would eat into it..

I think I've ruined it and we are renting! You have to be in a certain light to see it but when you do you think what the heck has happened there. Oh blast.
It's eaten into it, but I think even juice can do that.
I don't know maybe there's some way of hiding that when you move out I guess?
I think there is special marble cleaner and polish, but I don't know where you get it or if that would fix it.
Try contacting a company that makes/sells tombstones for advice and marble polish.
Anything acidic will cut into the stone, so will pools of liquid. We found out the hard way! It needs to be sealed to prevent it.
Thank goodness I only did a smallish section of it and thanks for getting back to me. I think I might look into marble polish to see if that might make a difference.
I did the same thing with a marble vanity on a boat once. (who'd have marble on a boat i ask ya?!) We got a specialist in and he polished it out. No idea how much it cost though.
