INNOVATION: The BabyNes machine combines state-of-the-art technology with the utmost safety and convenience, and ensures a hygienic, quick and easy bottle preparation.

Nestlé today announced the launch in Switzerland of its premium BabyNes system, a unique combination of nutrition innovation, high-tech machine technology and after-sales service.

BabyNes is the world’s first comprehensive nutrition system for infants and toddlers, and is based on Nestlé’s latest scientific achievements in baby nutrition and systems technology. With BabyNes, Nestlé builds on its unmatched expertise in baby nutrition gained over 145 years since the invention of Farine Lactée by Henri Nestlé.

Nestlé supports exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of an infant’s life, in line with World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations, and continued breastfeeding thereafter for as long as possible. For babies who are not breastfed, Nestlé provides high-quality breast milk substitutes, such as BabyNes.

BabyNes offers single-serve formulas for infants and young children up to the age of three years. The composition of the six consecutive formulas meets the evolving nutritional needs in the first three years of life: four formulas in the first year, and one formula for each of the following two years. The customised composition of these products is tailored to suit the growth pattern in early life and the baby’s changing nutritional needs, while taking into account the steady introduction of solid food into the infant’s diet.

Innovative???? First comprehensive nutrition system???? Quick????? Hygienic????? Sounds like breastmilk to me. I hope people don't buy into this because of the coffee/social culture. Urgh. Boo.

WOW, no offence but are we all really that technologically minded that we can't boil a kettle and fill bottles ourselves, no wonder were becoming a 'lazy' society.
And of course it comes from Nestle, theres not much more to be said there really, i mean 4 different formula types within the first year and a new one every year after :rolleyes: GIMMICK!

What a great way to waste money! Next they will probably have a pill full of 'nutrition' which will be all baby ever needs.. More time saved again! Ulgh.

Firstly, I am an exclusive breastfeeder and a big advocate for it.

Having said that, is it really as terrible as you are making out? Its probably not something I would buy if I was a formula feeder, however if formula feeders purchased it, i really don't see an issue with it. Is it because nestle has launched it? If it were another company would you have the same reaction?

Technology is advancing in every aspect of our lives, I see this as just that, an advancement in technology.

Technology is a great thing but how hard is it to make up a bottle, boil the kettle and put the formula in personally i see things like this as a great waste of money and not something i would buy at all and i have formula fed.
But i think things like wipe warmers and those nappy sack machine things are also a major gimmick and waste of money.. thats just IMO.

OH FFS! does the world really need this?

TBH the only real problem i have is the use of the language to sell the product. a complete feeding system for babies and toddlers is inaccurate and deceptive. babies and toddlers need alot more than just milk in their diets. and if we go into semantics: it is not a 'first': womens breasts have, for the most part, being doing it well before this little machine.
i take umbrage with this campaign more than the product itself (and yeah, like ZF i put it in the category of waste such as wipe warmers and nappy wrappers).

I thinks its fine. I have a nesspresso machine and I love it, so why wouldnt I buy one for my babys bottles?? Yep I get that the laungage is making it out that its better than BF but hey its not the first company to do that now is it??

And yes I agree that Breats is best but when you cant then you have to FF so IF people want a machine like this then why not??

I will still be boiling the jug and making the bottles but again IF people want this machine then why cant they??

We may as well embrace that technology is a part of life - again though if YOU dont like it then dont buy one - simple!

It doesn't really surprise me it is the way things are going culturally, it appear to be quicker and easier, but in reality it may not be, haivng to clean it etc. Not sure about promoting F until at least 3 years of age for the general populus, I do have have friend that still heavily rely on F for their 4 years old, BUT the type and mixes of F would in now way be possible through that machine.

It's not for me but I think there is a market out there, purely because it is the way things are going.

Personally, I dont see what is so wrong about it... people are too 'lazy' to boil a kettle and make their own coffee these days, we all go out and get take away coffee and buy the expensive machines for at home, why not have one for formula?

So to me, it is not like they are saying do this INSTEAD of breast feeding, for some people breast feeding just doesnt work. I know when I was a baby I had a severe reaction to my mums breast milk, I could only have formula... I think it is quite clever.

That being said, I will being trying breastfeeding my bubba when he/she arrives... but if it comes to it and I can't breast feed, I wouldn't say no to this idea (Just need to convince DH to get me one? haha)

I think that the point of those disagreeing is being missed. Sure some people love their gimmicks and no doubt this will appeal to a lot of people but the problem lies in the fact that they are deliberately marketing this to make formula feeding seem easy and accessible. Not only that, what if the machine fails and gets is wrong and you end up with a sick baby? We are outsourcing almost everything these days to machines and computers and when that happens there is more room for error. I'd expect that it would have to be cleaned otherwise you run the risk of milk being trapped inside it to fester. If someone doesn't clean it properly or simply can't be bothered (I've seen some grotty coffee machines in my time!) then it defeats the purpose of it being hygenic doesn't it?

MrsCptAwesome, Nestle and all the other companies have that 'line' on their products because they have to, not because they really believe it or advocate for BFing. If women breastfeed they can't make money can they? So it is in their own interests to make formula feeding seem attractive.

I agree Trillian - but I have also seen people not make bottles up correctly the "old" way and I sure as hell have seen people leave their bottles around and not wash them as they should - so I guess it can be said about everything.

Each to their own I say.

Lets not make this into a FF v's BF debate AGAIN! I get that people dont like Nestle and some dont like FF - but in the end this is a PRODUCT that is available - and people will either choose to use it or they will not.

Not something I would buy...but I don't have a coffee machine either because it is just as easy to make it myself.
But I can see where something like this would be extremely popular...especially with the 'in' crowd who have to have all thing innovative and technologically advanced.
It is just a gimmick...a way for nestle to increase their profits and it will probably work.
