My LO is sick, temp up, sweating, jumpy when she sleeping..
She has been pretty healthy since she was born, so i'm not really sure how hot is too hot :redface:
What temp do you start to worry at? Her healthy temp is around 36 to 36.5*C. This morning it was 38.5*C.
is under arm temp ok, i reckon she would bite the thermometer if it was in her mouth.
idgive her some panadole to see if that helps reduce it...if not take her to the dr
anything over 37 is a temp
:hug: hun, DD1 had a temp of over 39 last week and the Dr told me i just needed to try tepid baths, icy poles or cool cloths to bring it down coupled with panadol and nurofen.
For 2 days straight i was giving nurofen then 2.5hrs later giving panadol, it SUCKS.
If your worried though no harm in taking her straight to the Dr's, hopefully you don't get told :"just keep doing what your doing".
I'm heading back in today and i can almost guarantee she's going to think i'm nuts.
If DD1 gets a temp over 39 again i'm just heading straight for the ER, save stressing myself.

There's an RCH factsheet on fevers somewhere, I'll find it...
ETA: don't know if I can link to it, but google royal children's hospital fever and its the first link. Basically above 3mths in age, you only need to really worry if it is above 40 degrees.
Having said that,if there are other symptoms that are concerning you, take her to the GP.
Interestingly that RCH factsheet says not to do tepid baths...

Thanks. The RCH factsheet was good. DD has just camped out on DHs lap in the lounge watching TV. I have been out delivering census papers so just DH is bit over ABC2! :lol: Just giving her a breastfeed then heading out again. DD perks up for a few minutes then just slumps again. She is drinking though (breastmilk and water) so i think we will just watch her for now.
My DH is a paramedic, and he says no to tepid baths and cold compresses as that the lead them the other direction and cool them too fast, and then lower to temp too much.
Go by the RCH fact sheet. It is prob the most accurate.
When I took DD3 to the hospital a few weeks back, I was told that there really is no great need to be concerned if the temp is under 40. I hope your LO is feeling better real soon.
We only took DD to the ED when the temp kept coming back. She was given panadol at the hospital and 30 mins later it had dropped but then an hour later it was back up.
DDs temp got up to 39.5. just given her some nurofen and she having a bfeed. she was ok for a couple hours but very lethargic again and just feels yuck.

If your worried take her to Dr or ED, I had to use meds continually for a couple of days straight :(

I'd get her checked out. The temp is on the high side and her behaviour is a worry if she's lethargic.
It's sad, i mentioned this to our Dr about Dd's temps and was told she looked fine now and to just keep up her fluids and a temp under 40 was fine aslong as we can bring it back down :(:

That's true though. They say that you should watch the baby, not the temp (as long as it's under 40*). Some babies can be really poorly with temps of 38* and some babies can be fine with temps of 39.5*.
It's the lethargy I'd be worrying about.

Hope your LO is feeling better soon. I generally find that alternating panadol and nurofen keeps a high temp down and after doing that for 2 cycles (about 1 day) she seems to recover but that could just be coincidental.
