Lionel?
I need honest opinions
TIA
I said No i don't like it. When i hear that name it follows with 'Ritchie'. Im sorry!
I like it, I liked Leonard and Leon too.
:) No need to appologise i asked for honest ;)
Its reminds me of Lionel Ritchie as well, so I voted no.
Does it have a special meaning to you? Is it a family name?
My great grandfathers (and uncle's middle name) is Lionel. I love it.
I don't mind it but it takes a bit long to say.. But I'm a reaaaaally slack Aussie! Haha! I always imagine yelling out the child's name and if it takes too long to say I usually cross it off my list! But apart from that it's a nice name :)
I don't mind it, but then DH likes the name Xionel...
I voted as a middle name. Not keen on it as a first name. I used to call my old car Lionel.
It's my Grandad's name. He means a lot to me, he taught me how to read, and write my name I spent a lot of time with him and my Nan as a child (my Dad was a single dad working full time) Sadly he now has early stages of Alzheimer's and I would like to name my baby (if we have a boy) after him. His Name is Lionel Clement, i like Lionel but wouldn't want the baby to be picked on/teased so might just use it as a middle name.
I voted No. It doesn't feel like it rolls off the tongue easily. What nicknames are there for Lionel? What about Leon?
I actually think it's quite nice, it's a strong masculine name and if it has meaning to you then i don't see any harm in using it.
i can't think of any horrid kids nicknames associated with it but kids will be kids and they will find something with any name if they want to.
If it has a special meaning then your son would be proud to have it as his name IMO :)
I really like it. I think it totally suits modern boy name trends and no way would he be picked on. I think it's really easy to say and I can totally imagine calling for "Liiiie-nool" in the playground
I LOVE the family meaning you have too and I'd totally use it.
TBH I'm surprised by the number of no votes- I would have thought it would be fairly liked... But the fact that it's not means it'll be less common and heaps cooler, so all the better :D
PS. Lionel Richie is cool
I don't mind it but it reminds me of a very popular Melbourne OB whose nickname is vaginal Lionel (he's pro-vaginal birth).
I think it's lovely to keep names in the family, whether as first or second names.
I said yes as a middle name.
I don't particularily like the name, I think of Lionel Richie also but with the family background it would be special used as a middle name.
