The other day I received an email from someone named Maggie.
In her signature, it had...
"Married to Matthew, mother to Morgan and Mason"

My sister has a pet hate about names starting with the same letter so this would be a massive no-no in her book!
What about you? What do you think? Ok? Cute? A little something extra to join you as a family? Can't stand it, makes your eyes bleed?

I don't mind it but I have often wondered if the names picked are really their fav names then? Iykwim?
I was in mother's group with a J family like that - mum and dad both had names starting with J and named their 2 girls names starting with J. Personally I couldn't do it as it is confusing with having mail addressed to you etc. but having said that I have a G & J name that have the same starting sound so I am a bit of a hypocrite :lol:
Personally I'm not a fan. This may be off topic but my sister has a bigger problem with all the letters in her kids names being 'above the line'. So no f, g, j, q or y!
Way too much.
When discussing names with my DH, he suggested Stephanie, but I said no straight way as DSD1 is Samantha.
I couldn't do it.
(I think it's 20 Kids and Counting, all of their kids start with "J"... every. single. one.)
I don't get "above the line" - what does that mean? Is it that all the letters have to be level on the line when writing?
For the same person, I like it, as in A. A. Milne.
For multiples in the family, I'm not a fan. I like everyone having their own initials.
Also, I have this thing about choosing the name that best suits the child. The kid may be a best suited to be called David or Thomas or whatever, but he's stuck being called Brandon cos hus Mum, Belinda, has a thing for B names. This is all an example, btw. I think it lacks originality and tries to force communalism on individuals.
I do know a family who have done this. All the kids have lovely names and it certainly hasn't hurt them. I just wouldn't do it myself.
I used to watch that show, Elocin. When I started watching it it was 16 kids and counting, lol! I recently watched the special where the littest one was born at 25 weeks weighing 1lb 6oz and was in hospital for 8 months.... probably time for them to stop having babies after an experience like that, I think....
I think it's too much to have all one letter. Although, my intials will be (when I get married in 2 weeks) CMD, DD's are HMD, SIL is also CMD, and the girl's name we've chosen for the next one is TMD.

Exactly :D When picking names for her son she loved a particular name but because it had a g in it, she couldn't do it.:

we like a girls name that doesn't start with the same letter as DS' but has the same sound...i'm not even sure about having that :dunno:
I'm not a fan. Both my Mum's name and my name start with K, and she'd always open my mail saying she thought it was addressed to her, and someone had accidentally put Miss instead of Mrs. Very annoying!
I know a family who's into Ts. Mum and Dad's names don't start with T, but all kids and all pets do.
They aren't the same at all!!!! :D My friend has "Olivia" and "Bianca" which she now thinks are too much the same but at the time she didn't notice it...:
Yeah ok that's a bit odd... besides when you write a name you use a capital, don't you? So they are all automatically above the line?:

I wouldn't do it deliberately, but I wouldn't shy away from using a name that really suited bub just for that reason.
Professor has a thing about it though, he doesn't want it in the same name. All our kids will have middle names, and our surname starts with J, so all names beginning with J are out :)
Yeah.... not a fan. DH’s name starts with R too, that’s more than enough Rs for our little family. One of our strongest baby naming rules was “must not start with R”. :lol:
Not a fan. Dh and I are both a names so all names starting with a are out...which sucks because I looove some a names. I might be able to twist dh arm for next bub!
Keike that was another rule of my sister's - no alliterating first and last name. I love the name Grace but my surname starts with a G... actually its a Gr surname... so I thought that'd be a bit much, two "GR" sounds. But maybe Georgina might be ok, different sound. But to my sister, still a no no.
DS's name has the same initial as mine. Ah well! I'd temporarily forgotten about that :rofl: But I have an excuse - we use a nickname that starts with a different letter. Like Elizabeth and Betty, but not that obviously!
