How do you soften up denim??

Any tips for softening up denim? I bought a jacket online and it is as stiff as a board....I have washed it about 100x as it has gone in with every load for the last 8 weeks and tried combos of bicarb, vinegar, fab softener and hot/cold washes.
Help as I love it but it looks silly!

Chuck it in the dryer?

Generally after wearing denim it softens up

Hand wash in Epsom Salt then rinse in fabric softner should help then when nearly dry, don't dry in the full sun, throw it in the dryer for a small amount of time.

Another weird tip is to put it in the freezer.
