would you consider swapping baby goods etc with strangers

Hi

am underway launching a website. What I am hoping to achieve is to be able to set up a swap website...I have a 3 year old daughter and an 8 month old son. Obviously having my daughter is was inundated with everything pink (walker/trike/scooter/toys etc). After realising how short a time these things get used am hesistant about buying the same stuff in a more masculine colour (lol)

Would you consider swapping with strangers or do you prefer to swap amonsgt family and friends? (I am hoping it will work!)

Please give me some honest feedback :)

I would, as long as I could see photos of the goods and there was some protection for the swappers - eg I'd be annoyed if my item was in great condition and the item I got in return was a bit shabby :)

im on a local buy sell page and the amount of traffic it gets is amazing I recomend photos and such but it should work

I would swap perhaps one or two item first and if i'm satisfied with the arrangement, I will be happy to swap more.

OUr local Children's Centre (UK government initiative to provide a place for parents of 0-5s with a place, groups and advice) runs a Freecycle Swap day every quarter and it is very successful! In fact I have barely bought anything for my DS apart from underwear as there is so much there. I have seen things I gave when DS was a baby turn up again at the next Freecycle once that other baby had grown out of it. It really is a great way of getting good quality things I normally couldn't afford!

I would so long as it was well looked after items (eg. Nothing trashed beyond recognition)

There is a swap place down my way that is run by church. Each bag of clothes is worth 10 points. You then do your "shopping" using those points.

I really like the concept. That way you are not looking for a direct swap of anything, nor do you have to deal with the other swapper. All the clothing is sorted before swapping, so there is no issue with clothes being dirty, worn out etc, as they are sorted out and given to the charities that make rags.
