Can toddlers suffer from insomnia?
I'm at my wits end..DD has never been the best sleeper. She did improve somewhat, and we had quite a few 'sleep throughs' after my mum bought some Rescue Sleep to try. She is still having it at night but the effect seems to be wearing off.. Last night was the second in a row that she has woken up at a ridiculous hour and been awake for ages (at least 2 hours). Last night it was 5am, so hardly enough time by the time she has finished mucking around for me to get back to sleep. The night before it was 4am.
I am sooooo sick of it! When she wakes up she either comes in bed with me or I sleep in her bed, but when she does this she just lies there wide awake, sometimes wriggling or talking, or more maddening picking at her fingernails!
She is a very bright little girl, so I wonder if, like adults, her mind is just ticking over and won't shut down? There is nothing I can do to get her to sleep except wait it out, and get frustrated at my lack of sleep. Any experience with this? She is 2 1/2.
