So I am wanting to get my bags ready to go.
What's the best brand of maternity pads to buy? I have always used libra sanitary items but I have seen Kotex do them now? Any others? What works best??
Thanks!

I can't remember what brands I used. DH mainly picked them up for me when I ran out (will be stocking up this time) so he just got the biggest available lol. Even then, I needed to use two at a time. My best tip, if you're giving birth at a hospital, is try to stock up on the 'pads' they give you. They're fantastic. I also used this biggish sheet thing with a blue plastic backing, I'd fold that up and put it on top of the pads. Sorry, not much help here  If you can find a sympathetic midwife, try to get as much hospital stuff as possible.
libra goodnights (the ones in the purple wrappers)
I use Libra stuff normally, I think I got Libra maternity pads too. Most of the after birth stuff is a bit of a blur for me, but I do recall at some point I was even using two pads at once, just for extra length..and yes, stock up, at least 4 or 5 or 6 packs, or more, I used them for nearly a couple of weeks.
I always recommend the Weenee newborn nappy pads, these go in pouch for nappies usually, but they are the perfect size for mama pads, they end up being cheaper because you normally use two maternity pads at a time, but these ones you don't need two. They have no plastics in them and they are flushable, if you want I never did though. What ever you have left you can put in as a booster in cloth nappies. Natures child sell them, or directly at eenee dot com.
Good question. I was planning on libra goodnights but wondering if they'll be big enough.
I managed to get 6 x 10 pack of Kotex maternity pads for $3 each. Bargain! I used whisper for DS's birth, they were really good. I probably went through 3-4 a day for the first week!!
Libra Maternity, the ones in the purple packet. Wings are a must and normal pads don't cut it initially. I too used about 4 a day for the first week.
Libra all the way!! Nice and soft and the wings are great! I found the ones I the green pack (Kotex?) awful!! They were really "hard" and not at all comfy on my poor girly bits :(
i have used a mix of kotex and libra after all my babies and pumpkinzulu those blue things r just called blueies or bluey's (not sue how u actually would spell that? just say it all the time...so no special name haha and they are great under pads
I also recommend buying a six pack of just plain black undies, I usually get mine from Kmart as they can get ruined. Then I just throw them away wen finished with them and I still have my nice undies in the draw!!
I used libra for the first day then cloth pads after that and found them much better. I didn't even finish one pack of the libra ones though. I will do the same again this time.
I used incontinence pads for the first few days after the birth of DS2: much bigger and very absorbent. Much better than the maternity pads IMO.
This time around I bought U and libra (the U ones had a Huggies nappy promo). I bought 2 packs of each as hospital info said to take 4 packs - I barely used 1 pack while there as I used the hospital provided ones for the first 2-3 days. Came home and used part of the next pack before getting irritated downstairs and swapping to cloth pads - best thing I ever did this time round - wouldn't have managed cloth pads in hospital as DH wouldn't have taken home & washed and I didn't have enough to do them without washing.
So I now have one pack of unopened U by Kotex mat pads and one pack of unopened libra mat pads and a partially used open libra pack and I don't know what I'm going to do with them now as I much prefer my cloth pads for AF times so won't even use them later.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk so may be slightly confusing :)
I used the Depend underpants (yep the full pants with mesh sides). They are the absolute best!!! No leakage at all, no dirty/stained clothes or knickers.
I recommend them to everyone and every single person has loved them. I only used them for the first few days and then switched to pads.
