Opinions please

Okay here is our short list of name for our DD. Middle name is already decided K aur (pronounced Kor and a traditional Punjabi girls middle name). Surname starts with L. Her sister is J asmine with the same middle and surname.

Pania - really like that this has a connection to my NZ heritage
Sofia - we love this but don't like shortened version of Soph, no offense to anyone out there. So we would want nickname to be Fia.
Alana - think this is very pretty
Ela - we like this spelling due to my husbands inidian heritage
Hermione - we both have always liked this name but I'm a little concerned about the Harry Potter connection
Addison - like this but not sure if it is one of my favourites.

So let me hear your opinions ladies, and open to any other suggestions.

That is hysterical :lol: I love the name Bella & the twilight thing would never have occurred to me, people are so..odd! :rolleyes:

I love Pania, but I'm of NZ heritage too so I'm 'used' to names like that. :)

BTW - Ela (with this spelling) is the Polish version of Elizabeth - not sure if that makes a difference, but just FYI

Love Addison, it was on our list, but DH sadly wasn't a fan. Love Alana and Ela too. As soon as I read Hermione I thought Harry Potter - DOH :doh:

I love the name Hermione and I don't think people would automatically think that you've used the name based on Harry Potter, but i do think that more people know it because of the series - it hasn't had a huge popularity jump because of it. At least people would know how to pronounce it though.

Ooo, Pania. So nice. Goes with J too. People can't mispronounce Pania, can they?
I like Alana.
I have a little girl i know called Sophia and they call her Sophia. No nickname. It's not so hard to say. If you don't like Soph, then tell people what her name is and it's not up for shortening!

Hermione is lovely, but it's a mouthful!

I think it depends on surname too...not meaning offence but some Indian names can kinda of make a name not suit...
My DH is of Southern Indian heritage (he was born here so not really into the cultural names)
I heard some when we travelled to India many years ago, and they have always stuck...
