Totally need to get back onto contraception.
Condoms hurt.
Not supposed to take the normal pill when breastfeeding.
Mini pill is a lot less reliable.
Don't want to have to get a ring put in every month.
Son't want implant as not sure if we're going to go for #3.
Maybe injections, but am worried about breakthrough bleeding and all the rest of it ...

I took the mini pill initially and it was fine combined with BF.
Then I got a Mirnena. I am not planning anymore. I do know of women who have had a Mirena and had it removed and successfully conceived again.
What did use in between DS1 an DS2? Was that workable?
I am on mini pill and have been since feb this year (DS2 was 2 in jan) I am still BF so hense why using it. If you are very careful about taking it everynight its fine.
Works on rule of 3 takes 3 days to be effective and take within a 3 hour window every night. If you miss a pill you then need to take for 3 days to again have protection.

Ring you can do yourself but I found it uncomfortable I did have a mid prolapse at the time. Mini pill left me spotting constantly :(
Mirena? Diaphragm? Could you try a depot injection? I think it's every three months so if it doesn't suit you it's not as long as the Mirena or implanonon, although I guess those two can be removed if it gives you nasty side effects. Good luck
We didn't. Because of my birth injury, we weren't able to have sex for 6 months, and there were still complications, etc ... when we got the all clear, we started TTC again, and got pregnant in 2 cycles.:

That's the issue for me ... I work very long hours sometimes and so am not great at taking it at a consistent time ...:

Mirena is an IUD, is that what you mean by ring? I know a few people who have had them and they've been great. I know one person who had it and it fell out, twice. :o Her Obs told her she must just not suit an IUD and this friend is now on the implant.
What exactly hurts with the condoms? I am finding the Skyn type of condom really good, after my issues with normal ones... combined with a different lubricant, what was it called, can't remember...
Are you cycling? Can you count days and just avoid days 10-20 or whatever your "hot spots" might be? Can you track that way?

Could you set alarm on phone to remind you to take and keep mini pill in wallet?? Thats what I do as work shift work.

Otherwise tracking cycle and avoid DTD in high risk times and withdrawal the rest???
Depo is fantastic as contraception but if you will be planning more kids, don't do it. It can make TTC a very long difficult process and really mess your cycles up. I know everyone has heard the horror stories of its long term effects but I hadn't until I went off it, we started TTC and got stuck with 14 day cycles for months. Some people end up with them for 12months plus. Just feel I needed to spread the word incase your like me and didn't know.
Cycling is an absolute no go here - some cycles I'm 13 days, some I'm 77 ... absolutely no rhyme or reason to it, that we can see. The only time I've *ever* been regular was then I was on the pill.
IUDs are a bit of a mental issue for me, what with my repair work etc ... I don't think I could get my head around it. Ditto for the ring, if there's a risk it might fall out.
Still undecided re TTC#3 so I think implanon is a no.
Maybe a diaphragm. I didn't realise people still used them!
Condoms sting - it's probably the latex or the spermicide on them, so maybe we need to try some different ones too.
Injection might be a solution, but if there's a risk it will screw up my cycles, then I'm not keen ... I like knowing when my period will be, when on the pill, and having the option to skip it if needed, or stopping it at will if we want to start TTC.
The timer in the purse is a good idea. While I don't always have my bag with me, and sometimes am out with clients or barristers or whatever in the evenings (if we're preparing for trial or whatever) most times if I'm still working at night I'm just in my office, and so would hear the alarm and have the privacy to contracept in peace ...
Maybe I just need to put my big girl pants on and go to the Dr and talk contraception and do it.
