So Miss E is nine months old, sleeps perfectly through the night but only when wrapped. We have tried umpteen times to wean her from her wrap, tried sleepy wings, persevered for a few weeks in a sleeping bag but she will not sleep without a wrap.
What can we do? TIA
Wrap in a cot sheet? Sorry that's the best I can offer ds1 was like that for ages at night (but not day sleeps - go figure) eventually he grew out of needing to be wrapped but I can't remember how old he was, maybe around 10-12 mths.
I used to put him in a sleeping bag and then wrap for awhile.
My son has just turned 1 and is still wrapped! We slowly weaned from 1 arm out to now just his legs wrapped!
We've only just managed to get DD1 out of her sleeping bag!
To get her out of being wrapped we put her in a gro bag (so her arms were out) but still wrapped from her chest down over her sleeping bag so it wasn't 100% different. Once she was used to having her arms out we stopped wrapping her lower half. She adapted fairly quickly with the gradual transition. Good luck!
I used a sheet too. DD1 was wrapped a looong time. Meh, I had bigger battles to fight. If that's how she was happy :dunno: She stopped just after 12months I think. Just didn't need it.
Just keep wrapping.. I used 1.5meter lengths of cheese cloth (spotlight) and when they got bigger I used it length wise & had plenty to wrap with.
I'm just worried about if she rolls when she is in her wrap. She isn't particularly roly in her cot but I have seen her do it once in her sleeping bag which she's in for her day sleeps. At night we use a swaddle bag but I got freaked about rolling.
So when she grows out if needing to be wrapped, will she stop waking herself with flailing arms?
I thought you weren't supposed to wrap a baby once they can roll??

Melissa, if she's rolling whilst wrapped I'd definitely work on getting her out the wrap ASAP, but that's just me. To answer your question, my DD didn't seen to wake herself with her arms around 7-8 months when we let them 'out'.
No, the sids recommendation is exactly that. Stopping once they can roll. My DD1 was not a roller in her sleep. She could also turn her head easily if she did and I watched her a few times flip herself back. She never stayed fully wrapped for long, it was more the going to sleep bit, and then she'd get her arms loose herself.
She was never a flailer either.
She was in a sleeping bag and it was just the once. While she has a very strong neck, I guess we are going to have to suck it up and try something. Dunno what because she goes to sleep fine unwrapped, just doesn't stay that way.
