Baby age 1 in ergo, preg with #2?

Hi all.
Am I allowed to use my ergo if I am pregnant? I know we arent supposed to carry heavy 'things'.

Also does anyone know when I can start wearing her on my back?

We will be traveling overseas and i am hoping to use it in the airport, on the airplane, etc.

Definitely! Of course if you're advised not to, or it gets painful, you should stop. Otherwise it's all good, people babywear through pregnancy all the time :)

As for what age you can wear on your back, I started carrying my daughter on my back from about 7/8 months. I probably would have started earlier if I'd had a carrier that could do back carries. I wouldn't recommend it in an Ergo, but a lot of people who use wraps can do back carries with newborns etc.

I think teni meant she wouldn't carry a newborn on her back in an ergo.. Definitely ok for a 1 yr old though..

And yep, no probs through pregnancy, you would be carrying bub anyway, so a carrier just helps :)

I asked pretty much the exact same question last year 4feb14... You've made me feel not so silly now lol
Anyway yeah I kept using the ergo with ds2 in front or back carry for months at the start of pg. Then I had a few months where I just didn't use it at all for some reason and then I did again in back carry when I was 8-9mths pg, that was surprisingly comfortable and I was annoyed with myself for carrying him around on my hip for so long!

I am going to start carrying her on my back. I bet she'll love it, plus I imagine it is easier on me that way (rather than the front) plus she'll be able to see more.

Crazy as it sounds, I actually preferred front carries while pregnant, up until about 24 weeks? Then I went back to back carrying, or using a ring sling. I couldn't do more than 3 or 4 hours a day, it was too much for my hips. But I definitely did it while pregnant. Enjoy!
