The mini pill
i`m just after your views on the mini pill, good and bad.
We have been using condoms and DH is just putting up with them because I thought that was the best option for us but to tell the truth I don`t like them either, we have come across the latex free ones and they feel much better but condoms still take the spark out of something enjoyable, I`m having problem with my libido and it at times takes an effort to reach my peak, then I have to sit back and twiddle my thumbs waiting for DH to put the raincoat on so we can resume where we were which at times DH has to start all over again to warm me up, luckily I have an understanding husband who tries his best ;)
Anyway I was worried about falling pregnant if I went onto the mini pill (Lucy I was thinking of you here LOL), yes I do want more children but not right at this moment, anyway after some searching the mini pill is actually more reliable then I first thought, I thought it was something like 89% reliable but they say it`s 96 - 98% unless of course you take the tablet too late.
I`ve only ever been on the combined pill before Matthew was born and I didn`t really like it with my many mood swings and breakthrough bleeding, so I`m just after your views, what was it like being on the mini pill - moodswings, libido, bleeding.
Take Care

Hi!
I have been on the mini-pill since DS was about 8 weeks old (since April last year) and I haven't noticed too many problems. I have yet to resume AF but I put part of this on the fact that DS is a boobie loving boy and still has frequent b/f as well as the pill. I feel it is effective, safe and allows for what little spontenaity is left when you have a new baby in the house! I hope that helps... I will be using the mini pill for at least another year and intend to use it as effective birth control in between each of our children.
Good luck...

thanks Heidi, lucky you for not getting Af back yet, I only lasted 8 weeks with my first before AF returned (that was okay by me as I was TTC) and this time I lasted 4.5 months and like you I`m exclusively breastfeeding (Adrian will start solids next week at 6 months) and I have big hungry boys so I feel like they are forever attached to my boobie which is very draining on me.

Hi Dee,
I've tried taking the mini pill twice, both times after my last two babies. I couldnt handle it, the mood swings were incredible and I stopped taking it both times because of this. That was how I fell pregnant with my third. We used condoms as well until we decided to try for number four but DH hates them and so do I. Other options are the implanon or depo provera injections which are both progesterone only based so I figure it will do the same thing to me (need to check with my ob), but I am thinking about an IUD after this one. Its not really what I want to do but I am running out of options. My Ob told me she was doing my tubes after this one or tying hubby to a bed, putting a coiuple of bricks on him and snip. She was joking. I dont want to do anything permanent as we would like another one but will probably need a bit of a break after the last three in four years.
Good luck with it. Everyone is different, try it and see how you go, you can always stop taking it if it doesnt agree with you.
