Hi all.
I had the roughest time last night :( I stopped BF Mikayla about a week ago and last night my boobs got so sore that I was actually in tears. I had a headache and cold chills all night and couldnt even hold my baby to my chest to feed or burp her. I felt so incompetent as a mum but at least I had my wonderful DH to take over and look after her so that I could TRY and sleep.
I still feel ordinary today. Boobs are killing me and I feel like I've got a bit of a fever. DH is walking around in a t-shirt while Im on the lounge under a blanket still freezing!!
I just hope these arent signs of mastitis! I think I'd better go to the doctors tomorrow.
Mikayla on the other hand is doing well today. My mum and DH have both been looking after her today and she's settling really well. Hopefully it continues through the night!!
Hope all mums and bubs are doing well xx
-
tina - hi, unfortunatly it sounds exactly like mastitis to me. Sorry to say so, but, those are the signs i was told to look out for.
I hope you get it sorted out very soon. It sounds horrible, but, dont put youself down for it, its all part of the learning curve.
Can i ask why you went to ff? I must of missed something?
-
Tine thats terrible but yep does sound like mastitis to me too. God i hope i dont get it Lee is on 2 formula bottles now and 4 breast feeds per day, Did you wean, stop suddenly or did your milk dry up ???????
mine get really sore if i havnt fed for about 6 hours or so..... so usually if lee sleeps from 12am till 6 they are screaming for him to feed.
IMMUNIZATION - lee has his needles tomorrow :( poor little man... im wondering if i should give hime some panadol before we go (advise ive recieved from a friend) aparantly it can make them a bit grizzly.
I am quite sick at the moment and worried to death that ill make lee sick so far i think hes ok but im stressing trying not to kiss him to close to his mouth incase i infect him.
Deb - love ya photots hehehehehe cute as made me giggle .... some great shots
Q - I have been having these feelins lately re BF to FF i kind if feel like that at the moment he is dependant upon me to feed him and once he is weaned he wont need me anymore anyone can feed him..... maybe silly i know but !!!!! has anyone else had these feelings...
-
Oh Megan - i know how you are feeling. I feel like i am just the milk bar for Aiden. Once i stop bf, i feel like he wont need me anymore, and dh wont need me anymore to care for Aiden, as then, he can do everything him self. Its all compelety silly of course, but, its our feelings, and they should still be aired, and we should still be comforted for it. Sometimes, i realy want to just put aiden on to FF, not cause i have problems bf him, but, i generally just dont enjoy it all that much, and ff is so much easier, but, one of the things that stops me is that then i think that, well, like i said, and you said, Aiden wont need me anymore. I guess its all part of our changing hormones, emontions etc, and just that never ending self questioning and self doubt that we all go thru. Our little men (and princess's) only have 1 mummy, and they are always going to need us.
As long as you bf Lee when you bb's are full and heavy, you should be right. They should only be reproducing as much milk as Lee is taking, so, if you are gradually weaning, or, have been on 2 ff for some time, then, your bb's should be ok. Just massage those lumps if they come up. I know if i give Aiden a ff, and then its a while before he wants to feed again, poor little bugger nearly drowns in milk sometimes... except for this morning, when, apparently, nothing was coming out. Has all gone back to normal now thou.
Good luck with the GP tina, i hope you get things sorted out, and are feeling better soon.
-
Oh Deb thanks for your reply - glad you are feeling EXACTLY the same as me....
Ha ha drowning in milk - hehehehe lee does aswell... he cant suck fast enough and then he drops my boob and gets quirted in the eyes HA gees that has made me laugh a few times one day out of the corner of my eye i saw what looked like a spider web and when i turned it was my boob squirting flat out and lee was getting it in the face and he was trying to move to get away from it .. hilarious actually i giggled for ages...
easily entertained at the moment.. HA!

OMG - Ladies i forgot to tell you all Big Lee (DP) proposed to me last Tuesday the 17th - my B-Day after 7 years he finally did it - he did it at dinner in a fancy resturant almost got down on 1 knee (place was packed) but he got up and came round my side of the table and leant down and popped the big Q gave me a beautiful ring, and of course i said YES...........
-
Hi all,
I haven't posted in here at all, but have occassionally been 'stalking'. (DD was born on the 24th June.)
I read your posts re: bf and swapping to ff, interesting to read your feelings about bubs not needing you anymore. That is how I felt (or still feel) after putting DD on formula at 8 days old.
Debbie, you're right bubs will always need us!
Tina, sounds like mastitis to me, I got it but not as bad as what you sound. I would go to the doctor or speak to MCHN for advice
-
Congratuations Megan!!!!!!!! How exciting! What a year you are having!
Tina - Hope you have got things sorted today and been to the doctors. Perhaps he will give you antibiotics to sort you out?
Debbie - Love the photos! Has Aiden not lost any hair yet? Lewis is like a little baldy man now at the front. Everytime we bath him there is hair in the bath afterwards!
I am back on antibiotics now for my scar as the infection came back. The doctor thinks there was an embedded stitch. Today I took Lewis shopping for the first time on my own because I haven't been able to carry the capsule to the car before this week. It was great to be independent again, I feel more human this week! He has also had 2 good nights sleeping from 1am-6am and last night from 2am-7am. Yippee!! He is one month on Friday, how time flies!
-
Hi Sarah - Thanks yep what a year alright....
Thats great hopefully it means bubs is settling down to a routine....
My scar got infected aswell but cleared up after the antibiotics.... you know is amazing how many women i know who have had c-sect have ended up in infection - hospitals must be so dirty....
-
meegm
congrats on the proposal - you will have to keep us up to date on the planning, i love weddings
How did the needles go - it is generally not reccommended to give panadol prior to needles as it can mask reactions that are important to know if your child is experiencing from the needles. f bub doesnt settle - and no reaction afterr 30 minutes then i would give panadol and a good calming feed.
Ashley is having her 8 weekers on saturday, poor thing has caught my cold virus i think as she was snotty and grunty last night. i hope it doesnt last long.....
-
Hello lovlies!! Sorry been MIA - just been ridiculous I tell you!!!! Could've coped with just the newborn thing but have had repetitive sicknesses heaped ontop - DH ended up in hospital for a couple of nights and the day he came out they almost put me in!!!!! And all of a sudden DD#1 has become allergic to something so bad that her face swelled and she broke out in horrid red welts that kept moving around her body!! Plus family blah stuff to add to my repertoire.....
........well, can't say life has been dull ..... chortle chortle!
Thankfully have had mum & mil tending to us sicklies in bed and THANKFULLY DD#2 has remained healthy *phew*.
I worked out an expressing system so that MIL & DH could bf DD#2 overnight and they'd top up the feed with 20mls of formula - so it was nice to get an extra minute or two of shut eye.
So things are slowly getting back to normal - am taking the opportunity to say hi whilst DH & DD#1 are out for an 'excursion', no interruptions - yay!
Have done my best to catch up on everyone's journeys and ENGAGEMENTS!!! That's so fantastic!! Skim reading all the posts have certainly put my mind at ease about a few things that I was going crazy over - wind for example!! Keeping DD#2 up for ages to avoid having to change bedding and outfits and it doesn't seem to matter how long I keep her up for, she still makes a mess! And I have to keep washing her hair! LOL!! Am using Infacol.
And to those who are wanting to TTC#2 sooner rather than later - I am so proud of you girls!!! I think that that's wonderful and don't let ANYONE give you grief for it! (They need a slap in the head imo!!) It'll be an exciting day when we see your pg announcement!!
Funny though as when I got married I thought that I wanted 4 kidlets, then I had DD#1 and it shocked me so much that I said that I'll just take it one at a time. After having DD#2 at home for approx 6weeks and a 2&3/4 yr old, I am leaning towards being 'done' :p DH is keen as mustard to take the responsibility of ensuring that he can no longer donate his goods to make further babies!! LOL!!! But whilst I feel as though I am done, I really don't want to make it final for a least a couple more years - coz who knows what might happen. But really, at this point for me, it'll have to take writing in the sky to convince me to go again!!!!! Never thought that I'd think like that!
Have my final check up on Friday but was VERY annoyed when after being (tmi warning) 'clean' for over a week, when I went to the loo there were signs of AF returning ALREADY!!! But it feels like she can't remember what to do coz only had a little bit last Wednesday and Thursday (not enough to go on the pad) and then nothing until last night..........................so my body is trying to remember what to do I think! But how annoying!! Am bf and was looking forward to at least a few months of 'freedom', lol!!! Plus, am not impressed because am waiting for my check up for the all clear before DTD and if now I have AF, I have no idea how long it'll go for and seriously!!! DH & I are chomping at the bit!! Hahahahaha!!! Yes there are other ways but nothing like a lovely snuggle!;)
Anyways, on that note, teehee!! Will try and keep up to date with all you precious mummies and your gorgeous bundles. So take care sweets!
Mwa!!!

OMG - something must of happened to my emails, as i have missed out on some bits.'
:clap:Congratulations Megan - that is wonderful news! Am very very happy for you. How exciting.:dance:
Charly, have been wondering where you have been. It sounds like you have had a bit of a rough time. Hope things smooth back out for you. I am sure you have had more then enough of hospitals. Do you have any idea what DD#1 is allergic to? How scary.
I am going to try some thickerner type stuff to help with the vomiting. Seeing a friend on Friday, who will give me some to try. Apparently, give it before BF.So, will see how it goes. Had a bad vomit day yesterday. Well, not really that bad, just worse then normal. 3 little sick bits. 2 after the one feed. Really, i suppose, its not all the bad, just frustrating. Between vomit, wee & poo, had changed him 6 times yesterday!
Sarah - nope, he has not started to loose any hair yet - at least, i dont think so. He likes the shower, but, might bath him today, as in the shower, we dont use any soap etc on him, as he will get slippery, and his hair is abit dirty. So, who knows, maybe it will start falling out. DH is devestated, as, so far, it looks like Aiden will have curly hair like DH does. After it is washed, it goes so fluffly, and unruley. I bet our girls will end up having dead straight hair.
Hope you scars etc heal up soon. Its scary to think that this long after the birth that you would still be having problems. Oh, and great sleep's he has had! Aiden is back to his 4hour feed sleep routine, and, for some reason, if he does go a 5hour gap, its always during the day!! Did you find that you woke up to check on him during his longer sleep? I do. If Aiden tends to sleep for abit longer then i think, i wake up automatically, and go check on him. Have done that several times now.
Tina - how did you go at the doctors? I hope you have things all sorted out now.
I was at the shops yesterday, and a lady asked how old Aiden was (5weeks) and she remarked how cute he was.. of course. Aiden was wide awake at the time. She said "babies at this age only have eyes for bright lights and their mothers. I thought how true. Its probably one of the things i do like about b/f, and its that look i get, when he knows he going to get a feed. Maybe its a boy thing  but, he just looks so happy to see my boobies. I love doing the skirt milk think as well. Its cute.
I havent booked my 6week check yet. My cervic still seems to be quite low. I can feel it quite easily maybe about 1cm or so from the outside...iykwim? I want to DTD, but, am worried about it sitting right there. I really should book my appointment.
Anyway, must go have breaky, and get my day started.
Have a great day all!
-
Hi ladies!
Congratulations Megan :confetti: Thats awesome news!! You must be so excited to finally be planning a wedding! And now you even have your own little page boy :D :happyforyou:
Well I couldnt get in to see my doctor on Tuesday and he's surgery is closed today but things are slowly getting better on their own. I expressed a little the other night (not that much came out) and massaged out a couple of lumps that were starting to form. Im no where near as sore now so I think I'll just continue to massage and see how I go.
Sarah I cant believe that your infection is back! Thats terrible - A friend of mine had something similar recently where an internal stitch came to the surface and was causing her scar to ooze. She went to the docs and had to have the stitch pulled out. I hope it clears up soon for you xx
Wow Charly it sounds like you've had a hell of a time! I've always wanted 3 kids but after listening to your dramas 2 is sounding like a good number to me :D Hope your all feeling better soon xx
Well Mikayla has decided that she's not going to sleep today. She's been whinging pretty much all day and I'm putting that down to the fact that she hasnt poo'd since yesterday morning. The poor thing must have such a sore tummy.
Deb I've got some thickened formula which I bought before putting Mikayla onto lactose free and I'm thinking of giving it a go because this S26 stuff is really backing her up!! Hopefully the Infacol will keep the wind under control and the thickened formula will stop the vomiting and there wont be any need for the lactose free. The only thing is the last time I tried to give her thickened she couldnt suck it through the teat - but she's feeding alot better from the bottle now so it might not be an issue anymore.
Is anyone else having problems putting their babies down??? I find that every time I put Mikayla into her basinett she starts to gag and vomit. I've wedged up the mattress so that she's not lying flat but that hasnt helped at all! She's fine if she's lying in our bed or on the lounge with her head on a pillow but as soon as she's placed in that basinett she seems to get sick .
Anyway its time for another feed so I've gotta run but 'll check in later if I can.
Take care xx
P.S How cute is my new avatar with that little pink bundle :D
-
Tina glad that you are feeling better.
I was told to give them this stuff via a syringe? I am not sure how much you give, or anything more about it then that. So, will see on Friday.
Aiden goes down well, generally on his own, but, he does do the gag spew things at times. We stopped wrapping him, which helped abit. His mattress is propped with a coupld of towels, and his bassinate propped with the yellow pages. He still does do his spews thou. Sometimes, he will go a few days without spew, and then, a few feeds in a row and then, back to nothing. So, i really dont know what it is.
I love your little ticker picture as well. Have been meaning to mention that.
Maybe try some warm water, and rubbing her tummy. Also, when she is lying down, push her feet up, sorta like so she is crunched up knees to chest. do a few repeats of that. That can help abit as well i think. DH said to me the other day - "i cant beleive we are sitting here, on a saturday night, waiting for some to do a poo" Wow, how our lives have changed
-
Hi Everyone
Wow, new thread. I have been so busy with looking after Diana and work and stuff that I have only had time to skim through the posts.
Megan - congratulations on your engagement! How exciting. (Reminds me that I am engaged too - we got engaged shortly before I got pg with Diana, so haven't made any wedding plans yet - haven't even set a date.)
Debbie - I love your babysite. Aiden is gorgeous.
Tina - Where abouts in Sydney are you? There don't seem to be many people from our side of the world on these forums. Hope your breasts are getting back to normal. Re putting baby down - Diana has been throwing up a lot too, but she doesn't seem distressed, so I haven't worried too much about it. It might have something to do with baby's oesophagus (sp?) being un-developed, therefore unable to hold all the milk in without the help of gravity?? She seems to be doing it less the last couple of days so I am hoping that it is something she will grow out of.
Things are ticking well at our end. Diana had a shocker of a week last week. She was restless, and unsettled. I think she may have been having a growth spurt as she now weighs 3950g and is 54cm long (finally big enough for her baby bjorn carrier). She has been a lot better the last few days though - sleeping and feeding well and very alert when she is awake. So cute. We had a really fun evening tonight as she is starting to react to things around her - so I sang her silly songs. :p
Oh well, better go and give Diana a bath.
-
Teepee2 - how are you lovey?? I hope that those bbs are playing nice now!
Well, what a morning *sigh*.................
Was so happy that DD#2 fed at 10pm last night and then didn't wake up properly until 5.30am!! Although, she fussed and snorted from about 4am but every time I checked thinking I was about to feed, she was fast asleep!! (So I've been awake since 4am!!) I did try to stay in bed after the early feed but all I could hear was DD#2 crying and then DD#1 joining in .........................
I was at a loss to understand how DD#2 could get through the night without tears but couldn't last 3hours after the morning feed, even though milk was in complete abundance!! DH suggested I went to bed after feeding at 8.30am but I really hate sleeping the day away so here I am fighting grumpy-bumness!!
And DD#1 is so emotional atm, and I think I have figured out what the tears are all about. She is repeatedly seeing DD#2 get attention when she cries, even though we don't respond immediately, but the fact is we still respond to the crying baby. So I think DD#1 has put 2 & 2 together and figures that's how you get attention and then is getting confused when mummy and daddy correct her, as gently as we possibly can but very hard when it is doing mummy's head in!!
So might go have a shower and wash this grumpy bum of mine down the drain!! :D
Chat soon lovlies - hope you're all doing well!
Mwa!!
P.S. oh DD#2 did have an extremely cute moment though yesterday - she has become so smiley and it is so precious! Yesterday she started smiling these huge grins at the teddy hanging over her bassinet and her grin would get bigger when we tapped the teddy and made it swing - oh so amazingly cute!!!!
-
Hi,
Lewis does exactly the same, snorts and moans in his sleep so I wake up to see if he's awake only to find him fast asleep! Poor thing has lots of wind pains though, so i think that's why he moans so much. Not sure what to do about it really. I'm already using Infacol and giving him 20 mls of warm water before feeds but he still whinges alot. And does massive farts all day long!!
