Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
Severe morning sickness sometimes requiring hospitilization with an IV drip & causing weight loss. I had it with both my girls. Lost 10 kgs with my second even though I was only a size 8 - 10 to start. I've never met anyone else who's had it, so I just wanted to make sure I'm not the only one.
I went into early labour with my DS at 23 weeks (luckily they stopped it) and there was a girl in the room with me at hospital (had to share as maternity was full) and she was on a drip for severe morning sickness. Poor thing vomited constantly from when I arrrived to when I left - very nasty!
Yeah it's not easy. But what was harder is that some people just don't get it. One of my friends acted like I was putting it on. Yeah coz vomiting all day for months on end is so much fun!
Yes my sister had it when she was pregnant with her son last year, the whole nine months she was in and out of hospital on drips, and on painkillers for the pain, and heaps of medications daily. You aren't alone....
I had HG during both my pregnancies and my sister also had it. There are quite a few of us about and many more I suspect who have not been diagnosed.

So how long were you sick for? With my girls it was about 4 1/2 - 5 months. I'm not too bad this time around though. I'm 16 weeks now & still a bit off, but instead of running to the toilet 20 times a day its only once or twice every few days. I still can't go do my shopping without coming home for a sleep, & I feel like I'm gonna pass out about half way through, but I am 200% compared to the last 2 times.
I am so jelouse of the people that complain that they don't feel pg coz they have no symptoms, or the ones that feel off but they are over it by 12 or 13 weeks. Its so not fair!
Did you have anyone around you making you feel like you were just lazy & making excuses? I think that's the hardest part. I don't know how my friend couldn't see how sick I was, but she said to me it doesn't really matter how you feel, you've still gotta do what you gotta do.
Mind you my house was very messy coz I was so sick & she thought that was unacceptable. Not that she ever offered to help.
Do you think you'll go through it again & have more? I would love to have more, but I still need to be able to look after the ones I've got, & that's hard enough, so I think this'll be my last.
I knew I had concieved both my babies because I felt slightly nauseas and full on HG started by about 5 1/2 weeks and I felt instantly better when I gave birth. I thought I was really sick with my first pregnancy until I fell pregnant with my second. During this pregnancy I lost 13 kg in the first trimester and was rehydrated throughout my pregnancy 3 times. I also had a toddler to manage. I recieved a lot of help from family, they rostered themselves on to care for my toddler, I had someone clean my house and my husband basically took on the duties of the house. I couldn't eat or drink much, coudn't shower or dry my hair without total exhaustion, the thought of brushing my teeth made me dry reach. We will not be having any more children, last week my husband had a vasectomy so we won't be changing our mind on this. I have been through a grieving process about not having any more chidlren, I think this is about grieving the healthy pregnancies I did not have, more than anything else... I was fortunate to have positive birth experiencing (particuarly with my second as I had a home birth) so this has helped. I didn't necessarily experience people who didn't believe I had HG, but more that people really didn't understand how severe the symptoms are. I think they believe you feel a bit sick but get on with things i.e. they would ask how I was, I would tell them then in the next few minutes they would ask me what I was doing on the weekend.
Anyway, I hope things settle for you bjrose. Please keep us posted...
i was sick with my twins from the moment i found out i was pg to the day before i delivered. I was hospitalized on a dip and ended up on zofran - 3 tabs a day. All up i lost 20kg when i was pg!!!
with my last pg, I was also sick and very close to being hospitalised- but fortunately found a great actupuncturer who really helped ease my syptoms. I was throwing up 14-16 times a day before i went to him, and he reduced it by over half in one session. Before my baby died, I was only throwing up 3 or 4 times a week - thanks to his treatment.
your symtoms were exactly like mine - no energy, exhausted, dry retching on my own saliva- know it well!!! yet we still keep on wanting to go back!!
the best is when you actually manage to vomit out of your nose and mouth at the same time!!!!!

My MIL had severe m/s and had to be hospitalised a couple of times during her 4 PG's. She also had a light period every month. Not sure if it's related to the m/s or not.
One thing I remember her saying is that she is sure that the stomach acids destroyed her teeth so she was onto me when I was PG and vomiting to constantly swish water in my mouth JIC. Thankfully I had nowhere near as a bad a time as that.
I know I should be hoping for a healthy baby, but I really hope this is a boy & that thats the reason I'm not as sick. I really want a boy before I give up, but I don't think I'll have another one either way.
I totally understand the grieving for making the decision not to have any more. I hate that the reason I don't want any more is just coz I can't handle the sickness, & not because I feel that my family is complete.
DH has alot of people around him, my father included making little comments that he's not a man til he has a boy. Most of them are joking, but my dad has given him a hard time from day 1 & is not about to give up now. & I want a little man of my own.
DH & I talked about having a big family, like 8 kids, but even though we would both love to we both know I can't go through this again. My mum is surprised I'm doing it a third time.
I kinda feel like I'm not a full person or woman because of it. It sounds silly I know there are so many people out there who an't have kids, but I just can't get rid of that feeling. My best friend can't have kids naturally & doesn't know if IVF will work either as she has alot of damage to her uterus & as much as I would love to offer to go surrogate for her, I can't even do that. She would never let me even if I did. I think she'd rather go without babies of her own than let me go through that for her.
Why aren't we normal. Why should we go through this to love & look after our kids when there are people out there who have no problems at all & have kids to abandon, abuse & neglect them.
Thankyou all so much for letting me know I'm not alone. Especially for letting me know that other people stop having kids for this reason too.
Yay. It's a boy! I don't really want to stop having kids yet, but at least we are getting the little boy we wanted. It will make it easier as I won't always be longing for a boy. I'm so excited! I nearly cried when we were told. I'm still grinning from ear to ear 2 days later! It's going to be harder to be patient now.

I had this with my first PG and it was just horrible.
I lost 21 kgs all up I felt disgusting but I was always told I look good Pg must agree with me. What a load of crap. heh
It's taken me 3 and a half years to get up the courage to have another one. Was planning to start trying this time next yr but bubs had other ideas and is here now much to my surprise.
I'm a bit nervous about being so sick again, crapping myself to be honest. 5 weeks and so far I have felt a bit queasy but nothing too major.
Last time it was around 5-6 weeks I started feeling crap and by week 7 I was awful. *fingers crossed* I don't get it so bad this time.
Different sperm this time so maybe that will make a difference lol

Hi there, I had this with my first child being a girl, with my next to pregnancies i was fine, they were both boys..... My DH used to say that i was "thinking" myself sick, so then i would be sick, he said it was all in my head....
what a load of crap and such a typical male thing to say.
Lucky for us we know we aren't making it up and there are other women who have been through the same thing.

I had hg with both my pregnancies - both boys - I can honestly say I will not be having anymore children because of this. I love my babies and would have ten more but I would need to be put to sleep for the first 5 months!!!!!
I was worse with my second ( didn't think there could be a 'worse' but there was) and the sickness lasted longer. I was in and out of hospital so much - at one stage I lasted 6 hours at home before I went back in.
My df was so supportive, I fell in love with him all over again!!!
I could go on and on about this but I wont. But for the girls who experience this, I really feel for you.
Whenever I hear that a friend or family member has fallen preg, I almost cry at the thought that they might get hg.
But as sick as I was, being a mum is the best!
A family friend had it.
My heart goes out to you ladies, I have sickness atm but only vomit twice a day or so, feel sick all day so I can only imgaine how terrible it must be to be sick all the time.
