Breech at 38 weeks
Hi all
just wanted to know if anyone else is still breech this late in the game and if anyone has any suggesstions about turning breech babies that they have used and worked.
I cannot go for an ECV so any other suggesstions would be appreciated.
I really want to avoid a C/S so any help or advice would be great.
Cheers

Hi,
I can't give any suggestions for getting bub to turn but my Mum told me I was breach at 38 weeks, turned at 38 1/2 weeks and was born at 39 weeks. My sis had her 3rd bub breach until a couple of days before she was born.
Hopefully someone has some things for you to try to get bub to turn but whatever happens as long as you get a healthy bub at the end of the day its all that really matters.
Good luck

My first was breech at 38 wks... I did have a c/s with him, however having said that... to be honest I didn't know that there were ways to try to help bubs turn. I had an xray to measure pelvis size and was advised not to try natural due to my size... but... the following I did with my second to try to make sure he was right way around.
You can rock back and forth on all fours to try to encourage baby to turn. Also stand with your arms resting on kitchen bench (or similar) and rock your pelvis so it tilts in and out. If you have a gym ball you can sit on that so that your back is straight and it will tilt your pelvis. Other than that I haven't tried anything but I have heard of acupuncture helping some people. I hope that bubs turns for you very soon :)

The Spinning Babies website has some good positions to get your bub to turn.

You can try moxibustion or accupunture.
Also look at spinningbabies.com - Home
good luck with turning bubs

Thanks all for you help and suggestions.
I tried an ECV the other day and it failed, I have now tried 5 sessions of moxybustion, 2 sessions of acupuncture, inversion postions, ice, music and the pelvic rocking/tilt positions and bub is still in the same position...... so i have just accepted that she is just very comfy and does not want to move.
I am booked in for a C Section for next Thursday so heres hoping that she decides to turn before then and if not I will get to meet my beautiful little girl then anyway.
Cheers

mecil make sure you ask them to do an u/s just before you go to theatre.
Only takes them a few minutes to check, there would be nothing worse than finding out baby was head down after they've done a caesar.
Happens more than you'd think :(
Good luck with your bub's birth.

I have a friend who spent as much time as she could on all 4's. Her other kids thought she was so silly but bub turned within a day or two.
she crawled everywere, even to the loo. but it worked.
Good luck

This might seem a bit 'hippy' of me, but is there something emotional going on for you ATM? There have been cases of babies being breech until Mum deals with some heavy emotional stuff, then they turn :) Not saying you are at fault or anything, but if this sounds sort of relevant for you, you might benefit from talking to someone about it?
(Well, I said it was 'hippy' lol! Spiritual, anyway. But there just might be something in it. You never know.)

My boy was breach from 34 weeks or earlier. I had a scan and this is the only way they found out, the gyno could have got it wrong for a while for all I know! Anyway at 39 weeks 4 days I had a caesar as the little ratbag did not want to turn. I was not for turning the baby as I gathered if he was going to turn he would turn on his own free will. Guess he was super comfy in there. They did however do a quick scan the morning of surgery and yep sure enuf he wanted to come out running!!!
This one however is doing the right thing and is head down. If only he was my first child, then I would not be having this dilema of the worries of VBAC. Anyway I guess we will see what happens!
