Yes Mumasupha, I got an email from the course convenor saying that Griffith will definately be starting BMid in 2010 :cheer:
Yay! Wasn't looking forward to travelling to ipswich or north brisbane from the GC!
Yes me Neither! Where on the coast are you? I got into ACU this year but it was just going to be impossible to juggle a new bub and travelling up to bris 4 days a week for uni. I'm so glad Griffith is doing it. It'll be based at Logan campus, but still, it's a lot closer than Ipswich or Banyo as you say. They will also offer it part-time :cheer: which is good for me as I'm hoping to have another bub next year. it will be a huge :juggle: but so worth it.:)
HI. I'm on the northern end of the coast, although my daughter will be going to school on the southern end, but at least it's closer than Banyo or ipswich! Would be great if they had pracs available at John Flynn or GC! I guess thats probably wishful thinking though!
Is this course still going ahead?
Does anyone have any more info??
As far as I know it is still going ahead, haven't heard any more info about it though!
how exciting - would the mt gravatt campus be doing this?
and does anyone know if it would be post graduate or undergraduate?
It would be at the logan campus and would be undergrad, as far as I've been told.
hmmmmm  do u know if that is far from Forest Lake?
im hoping its closer than ACU would be - unfortunally i dont think i would be able to get into UQ :(
Hmmmm I'm not too sure as I'm down the Gold Coast. I would think it is closer than ACU. You wouldn't need to go over the Gateway bridge which would make a big difference. I ws looking at ACU and UP too before i knew Griffith was going ahead with it. Both were too far to travel to (realistically). Ideally would love to go to UQ but not practical in regards to travel and follow throughs.
Why don't you think you'd get into UQ?????
when i rung UQ i was told i needed something of Diploma level which i dont have and a science of some sort - so unfortunally i wouldnt get in!
Do u know what the pre-requisites would be for Griffith?
Im getting excited now - i was just starting to get down about it all cause i really didnt want to travel to ACU - but in the long run i will travel where ever i have to do be able to do BMid!
Have u done nursing or anything?
Ok, I am doing an Adult Tertiary Prep course through Open learning TAfe as I didn't do a science at school in 11 and 12 and didn't get an OP. I'm pretty sure that Griffith expects you to have done a science as well. Sorry! I have done the language and learning unit and have now started the biology unit of the ATP.
I haven't got a nursing background at all. Have worked with special needs babies in an orphanage but that's about it.
The other thing you could do to make sure you could get into Griffith is to do a science unit through Open Universities Australia.
Hope this helps!
hmmm im thinking i might have to do what ur doing - cause my OP wasnt the best!
How long is the ATP? Is it easy? and how much does it cost?
and thank u - ur being a great help!
The course has changed since I enrolled, and I think you have 6 months to do the units in. You have to do the Language and Learning Unit first. It took me quite a while to do that unit but because i spent too much time on the tutorials! The computer unit I did took me 4 months to do (again could have done it quicker but was focusing more on the language and leanring). I've only just started the bio unit , but planning to get it finished by August.

Check out the information here. Let me know if you have any more questions.
hehehe u should never of said that - i have HEAPS of questions! hahaha
If i do the ATP does that guarantee entry?
I was also going to become a Doula to help get in - and in the end if i dont get in at least im still helping other females with their birthing experience like i want to do!
Gotta go my little one is awake - i will be back tho - and thanks heaps for ur help!
Yeay, so exciting that it is going ahead!
Heres hoping that we ALL get in!!! and then we can be study budies!!! woot
