Laparoscopy Results Blocked tubes????

Hi guys - I'm posting in here as i'm hoping someone from this section can help (i really dont know where to post... I'm just so confused atm)

I had a Lap done last wednesday (19 nov) and had my gyno appt today to get the results... the first thing he said to me was "we had some trouble with you" (i start to quietly freak out)
He said we couldnt get the dye to go through your tube (note he keeps telling me tube not tubes) he said at first he thought he put it in the wrong place as it was seeping behind my tube but then when he done the curette he said the dye should have went through then..... He said he thinks my Tube is blocked but has booked me in for another lap and dye to do it all again
At this point my mind was going crazy and i was trying to fight back tears so i didnt ask to many question

Has anyone ever had this happen before???

Also he said my cervix is very tight and said after having a baby that it should be open (like a flower he said..... no idea what that means either)

He honestly thinks my tube(s) is blocked as dp and i have been trying for almost 3 years to concieve our 2nd with no success

Does it sound like he put it in the wrong place??? As the dye didnt even get to my tubes??? I'm just holding onto hope that he did and everything is ok

Also when i went to the loo for the next 4-5 days after my lap the dye was coming out then... is that normal???

One last question.... is it normal to have another lap done??? is there a way just to have the dye done???

So sorry for all the questions and rambling.... I'm just so confused... i have a massive headache from crying so much and i'm really just hoping someone can help me with these questions

I don't have any advice as I don't have my results yet but I just wanted to come in here and offer support. Maybe you should ring your GYN now that you have questions. I am sure he will understand that you were in shock at the time. You will probably get more peace of mind by asking him.

FWIW - I still had dye on my pad up until yesterday (6 days after my lap).

Hi Tia, I have not had a lap done before but was trying for #1 for over three years as well which was awfully painful.
I did have the dye test done and the procedure was called a Hysterosalpingo-contrast-sonography (HyCoSy) is a transvaginal ultrasound technique in which a solution of galactose and 1% palmitic acid (Levovist) - or a mixture of air and saline - is infused into the uterine cavity and observed to flow along the Fallopian tubes to assess tubal patency.
I had this done while I was awake and although was is some pain during the procedure I was fine afterwards.

Perhaps Google for more information. Has this procedure been spoken about to you?

i to have had the dye test done on both tubes and yep they were both blocked completly and i was awake as well just like nic i watched the hole thing.
since then i have 2 ectopic pg in the same tube but now they have taken it out all together i also had surgery last week for one of the ectopics and when i woke up the dr told me that he had unblocked my other tube but really not sure if this will help as he also says how damaged it still is so i really wonder why he even botherd as ill prob end up with another ectopic pg mmmmmmmmmmmmm:doh: and then he only gave me an 8% chance of getting pg on my own
the unblocked tube operation was called a TUBEOPLASTY

Amy - thanks so much hun :hug:... I'm do want to call my gyno and ask but damn im nervous... its like he told me i need another lap why cant i accept that (i know its just me being stupid but its how i feel atm iykwim)

Nic - about the HyCoSy is that the same sort of thing as a hsg??? I really have no idea about any of this stuff but i have been googling so much my head hurts... my gyno never mentioned anything but another LAP... which i dont really understand because a HSG just checks the tubes .. wouldnt that be easier for me???
do u have to see a FS to have a HyCoSy done???

Who does the tubeoplasty??? An FS..... was your an HyCoSy or HSG (if those 2 things are different)??

Should i go back to my Gyno and ask abt a HyCoSy or HSG??? Would he give me a referal for that or would he do it

oh darlin i have no idea what mine was called but i went to my normal fs and he sent me for the test it was just done at a normal x-ray place it did take about 45mins and it did hurt a little bit but nothing much and you actually watch them putting the dye into your tubes..well on both sides the dye did not go through at all it just pooled at the end of my tubes:doh: and sometimes they told me that this test is just enough to unblock the tube its self for some women ,but not me :wall:
so im not really sure of the differnce soz hun
but im thinking of you and try not to stress to much trust me hunny it wont help i no

Smithy - I have read that the HSG can be quiet painful..... maybe thats what u had??? i also read that they can try to unblock your tubes... did they do that to you (seriously dont answer if u dont want to or if its to personal etc)
I'm going to make another appt and see what he says abt a HSG... i just dont think i can face having another lap done just yet.. i am only now just feeling totally better..

Does anyone know if your tubes are blocked that the dye seeps out behind your tubes??? (the dye didnt even get to the tubes)....... to me that doesnt make sense but im not a doctor

Nikki, my gyno was going to send me for the HyCoSy. It was the dye done by ultrasound. And I think the dye they use is just coloured saline, so totally safe and it wont harm anything. It should just flush out, and it sounds like yours did. There is nothing worse than coming out of an appt with more questions and feeling lost and more confused than when you started... Get on the phone to your gyno and see if you can get some clearer answers.

Be strong hun.. it's your body and you have a right to know what's going on, what your options are and a clear explanation before having anymore invasive surgery.

Either call him or schedule another appointment.

I'm trying to find out what happens with the dye if it doesnt even get to your tubes..... wouldnt it just stay in the uterus??? I guess this is what is confusing me the most as the dye didnt stay in my uterus... it seeped out of my uterus abd behind my tubes :|

Rufi - yeah im just going to book another appt with my gyno... I need to know more answers..... its just driving me crazy... I'm going to tell him i dont want another lap and would rather just the dye tests done.... it makes more sense to me to just have that done and not the hole lap done again

Amy - lol i dont really like being the boss, but i truely just need to find out what the hell happened... why cant google atleast give me a straight answer on why the dye seeped out of my uterus... (i know u cant answer )

Nikki, i had the same thing happen during my lap, dye didn't go through one tube, my FS recommended a HSG, rather than another lap. It was a bit ouchy but better than having another lap! My cervix wouldn't open either (during the HSG) and the pain was painful but no worse than bad period pain for a few hours... nothing like the lap! My FS said that sometime the fallopian tubes and uterus can spasm suring surgery, right at the most inoportune times, and prevent the dye from getting to and through the tubes. Hopefully this is what happened to you :crossfingers:

I would ask for a HSG or HyCoSy, rather than another lap. I had my HSG done at an x-ray place and took about an hour. My FS wrote a referral. It was about $130 I think.

Thanks for that Leash - Yeah i am deffinitely going to ask for a HSG or a HyCoSy ... i dont want another lap.... and honestly dont see the point in it if it was only my tubes that were the problem and there are other ways to check

A GP cant refer a HSG can they??? Or can a lady from the womens clinic??? Or does it have to be either a FS or GYNO???? The only reason i ask is because my GYNO only comes to my town twice a week and is always busy .... I am going back to my gyno asap tho to find out alot more abt my lap
