Worried

Ok this is my first real post and i am really cross it has to be one about this but i am terrified.

Ok i have 2 DD's and have miscarried twice since my last daughter 4 years ago.

Now I have had an ultrasound yesterday, according to my dates i shud b 6 weeks 4 days but the ultrasound said 5 weeks 4 days.

Just before the U/S the said to empty my bladder, when i wiped there was pink stained mucous. Then internanl U/S said that cervix closed and long, and the sac and yolk sac are all exct to the date 5w4days.
Afterward there was more pink mucous.

At home there was more and a small amount of brown to it to. It is only present when i wipe, and i NEVER experienced any bleeding with my DD's and both miscarriages were missed. (no Bleeding)

So right now i am petrified, can anyone please offer me some help or ideas as to what this could be????

it's not unusual to measure different to your LMP dates - i measured 5 days small for ours. did you have a heartbeat on the scan at all? follow up with your care provider if the bleeding gets any heavier or you're in pain

No i didnt have a heartbeat yesterday and i was shattered, but they said not to worry coz it generally cant be seen til after 6 weeks. She said it all looked good cos the cervix was closed and long and my OB/Gyn said to just rest, so i am but oh my god i am soooo terrified

It could just be implantation bleeding - if you are having no pain and the U/s was fine, then I wouldn't be too worried just yet. You could have implanted late, meaning that the baby will be smaller for dates than what you expected and if you aren't 100% sure of when you ovulated and therefore conceived, that will put your dates out too - especially if you have a longer cycle. Can you get your Dr to do a check of the HCG and see if the levels are rising?

My last hcg test said all good, i may have O'd late as my cycle was 31 days last time sort of hard tho coz my last MC was 25.09.08. LMP was 25.10.08. we werent even trying this time as i was still recovering from miscarriage, th dr detected it as i had a real bad bladder infection. so i have no idea to ovulation n stuff coz i had given up. i had thought this baby was meant to be for it to happen so soon, and now i am just terrified there is no other word for it. and coz i had never bled before to this time i really dont know what to expect. im soory to do your heads in but i cant do mine in any more

get your doc to check your HCG again - if they do a sequence of them over a couple of days, it should confirm that they are climbing - also maybe ask if they can scan again in a week or so...

That's OK - there is always someone around to listen to your concerns :hug: so don't feel you can't come and have a vent or ask for advice. FWIW, I only ever had implantation bleeding with 2 or my 4 pg's, so it doesn't mean anything if you do or you don't get it (assuming that's what it is too). But take heart that your levels are good and that you do have a longer cycle, so things could be out of whack a little from that. Some women are just unfortunate enough to get bleeding during pg too - there is a thread about it on here with other women and their stories and how they got through it.

I know it doesn't matter what anyone says to you, you will still worry... trust me I've been there, and it was only a few weeks ago. I had 3 scans between wks 4-7 (and only saw a hb in the 7wk scan)because of light pink tinged discharge, I also had 5 blood tests in that time - and I was stressing! I had lost my 1st preg as it was ectopic back in April this yr so I was being monitored closely. My advice would be similar to Briggsy's Girl - ask to have your HCG monitored every couple of days - even if it's just for your own peace of mind to stay sane.

For me - it ended up that I had a small haematoma (blood clot) which had developed in my uterus during implantation (apparently very common), and this was the cause of my spotting. I am now about to hit 13 weeks and my scan on Tuesday this week showed the blood clot had disappeared, but I still check the loo paper when I pee - paranoia maybe, but I think it's normal to worry as we only want the best for ourselves and bub... I hope that all goes well for you :crossfingers:

Thankyou so much clarebare i am just so up in the air at the moment. and i am majorly paranoid too, that every small feeling i have is the beginning of bad news. It started so light that i had to look twice, and since yesterday arvo it has been a little more noticeable. im pretty sure i have no definitive pain, but mentally i am aware of every sensation in my pelvis right now.
Going to the drs may b an easy task for most people to do regularly fo bloods but we live a fair way out making it a bit difficult. The U/S person has booked me in again for the 24th Christmas eve, when by there dates i shud b 7W4D, for hopefully some good news and a HB.

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS MY LITTLE BABY BEAN TO GO BOOM BOOM BOOM AT ME ON THE SCREEN. PLEASE SANTA I HAVE BEEN A GOOD GIRL

udd - in regard to the pains - i was talking to Ob yesterday as i've had significant ouchies all through this pregnancy - i asked him if it was "normal" - and he explained that, even when not pregnant, the uterus contracts - when pregnant, it contracts more noticably (essentially braxton hicks contractions all the time) - and when you're aware that you're pregnant, you become much more aware of every sensation. it was something interesting for me, as i'd only ever heard of the uterus contracting during orgasm or late in pregnancy, but it made sense and explained all the on again off again ouchies i'd been having.

feel free to vent in here - so many of us have been through difficult starts and come out kiccking at the other end!

I really feel for you. I've had a couple of miscarriages, and a few scares with the other pregnancies. Honestly, the only thing that saved my sanity was becoming very fatalistic - saying to myself over and over that whatever was going to happen, I had absolutely no control over it, and that no amount of worrying was going to change the outcome. I drilled that into my head over and over again, and it honestly helped me get through, particularly with this last one where I bled from five weeks to fourteen weeks.

I don't know if there is any truth to this, but I've been told that either bleeding OR cramps isn't too much of a concern, it's when you have BOTH together that you should be worried... this may be an old wives' tale though - can anyone confirm or deny?

cramps are only a drama if they're prolonged or labour like in early pg (so either a continuous AF type pain that won't quit, or regular hard contraction type pains - according to Ob yesterday) - bleeding can be a source of concern in the absence of pain - i never felt pain until about 24 hours into heavy bleeding for each of my miscarriages

i am of the opinion think the worst and anything better is a bonus, under normal circumstances but this time i cant help but feel the worry. Now there is only a VERY light pink tinge to it and thats it. I feel ok BB's are still sore and i am really tired even after aving slept 12 hrs last night thanks to DH looking after the girls. My concern is after having a d n c only the cyle before perhaps ther is a little damage that is coming thru with expansion of the uterus and all the growing............what u guys think of this being a viable possibility?????????

It could even be just your body shedding anything that was left over after the D&C.

Its not looking good to me, im still in no pain today but it appears to have gotten a bit worse, and a bit brighter red. I went to the hospital and they just did bloods and said all was ok in that depatment, but given i had U/S on wednesday it was pointless doing another so soon as they doubted nothing would have changed. I just want to cry.

It isn't necessarily bad news - I bled like a period for ten weeks, sometimes bright blood, sometimes brown. While it's probably sensible to acknowledge that there might be something wrong, it's no guarantee that things aren't going well either! Hang in there.

It might be reassuring if you can have serial quantitative HCGs done - they can test the level of pregnancy hormone in your blood over a few days and see if it is rising as it should.
