How heavy is TO heavy bleeding??*WARNING TMI*

I know this is a bit TMI but i just had to ask how heavy is to heavy???

Hi im not taking a pill or anything but i can at times have heavy periods but this time its quite bad ever 1-1.5 hours its time to change and im using tampons the heavy/super type. I don't normally use them but this is just incredible also using pads for back ups/spillage. Over night just pads but last night i double up yes DOUBLED up on pads and had to run to toilet holding my self down there. It was like a tap turned on running. At night i cant even roll over with out gushing. It was same heavy yesterday arvo too. Period started on 11th VERY slowly but now is very heavy. how heavy is to heavy?

I don't know that there's a hard-and-fast rule about this.

If it feels wrong for you - I'd get checked out. Just in case.

I've had it that heavy before. It's uncomfortable isn't it? It's only happened once or twice (and once was about 6 months after my bub was born). But if it's unusual for you - see a doctor or nurse.

I've had that problem as well squidipa, and I was really worried so I went to the hopsital (friday night, no doc). So I told the nurse, and she said that unless I'm bleeding like that consistently for 4 weeks, it falls under the category of 'normal menstruation'. WTH??

I know how scary and annoying it is, just wanted to warn you for what might be a very unsympathetic reception :( If it means anything, mine generally stopped within 2 weeks :)

i have had periods last for 6-8 months thats what happens when i have the pill in needle form :(

How many periods have you had lately? I know you've been a bit up and down with them. It could just be heavy because you have a lot of lining to shed, or it could be something else. I know I've had times after my last two babies where my AF was very very heavy like you're describing, but the trade off for me was that I wasn't getting endo pains because I was bleeding where I was meant to be bleeding from kwim? Some women do suffer from menorrhagia (very heavy bleeding) for no reason, but often there is an underlying cause. If this continues with your next af, then I would be seeing a gyno about it to rule out a medical cause.

Is this your first period since your bub?

My first period after both of mine ws like you describe - minus the 'runs' though, but i would be dripping on the way to the toilet and then it was like i was peeing blood but it would only last a day or 2 and so i just stay in bed. its not fun though!
I was told by the dr that its common and is most likely to be the 'left overs' as such! I would go see a dr though if it goes longer than a day or 2 like that.

I'm not sure of your age :rolleyes: ... BUT when i turned 35 my periods that were a breeze suddenly turned to hell ... hug clots too (sorry for TMI) ... and my Doctor said it can be quite common for woman when they get past the 35 age mark ... anyway, after about 2 year of my periods being very heavy they got much better (hardly ever get clots) ...but i still can no longer stand using tampons which never bothered me before !!

(Also the GP told me i didn't eat enough red meat ???)

hi, i am 28 after birth of baby i had 2 months of spotting then two months of periods this being the second month, first was failry normal i would say. After birth i bled for 7 weeks.

i think the issue is i am not clotting the way i should be but its slowed down a bit today yay! but if it continues i will get it checked out. I have a tendency of loosing my lining intact im just glad that didn't happen this time:)
