I'm new to cloth and have started using BumGenius and BBH Magicalls. I am wondering if I should use a liner with them? Emily still has runny poo and I don't have a little squirt yet (am getting one end of this month) I'd like to make the clean up a bit easier. if I do use liners should I use a cloth type or disposable or flushable...please help!
I don't think liners are much help with runny poo but others will be able to tell you for sure. As far as using liners goes, I have just bought some Happy Babes flushable ones and I'm really loving them - so much softer than another brand I was using - cheaper too. :dance:
I also use the flushable liners and find the clean up much easier, I keep the roll handy for any runny poos and wipe up any excess to flush as well. I've just gotten my system down pat and am finding it no hassle at all.

KyeG- That's a good idea. I used to use the sposie to wipe excess and then put the wipes in with the sposie, but can't do that with cloth!
When they have that runny poo I never bother with anything, not even the little squirt. I just chuck in the dry pail and when I put them in the machine I do a pre rinse then wash :)
Can if your like me anbd use cloth wipes :) Just goes in with the nappy. Easy peasy!:
Liners didnt work with runny poo...only until she was about 10 months or so did liners become useful.
Get some micro fleece and cut it up yourself. wash it until its ratty then just biff it.
About $3 a metre or so and it doesnt fray so no need to hem it :)
Me neither, hae rarely used a liner, found them too much mucking around but daycare used them and liked them. Also with the flushable ones they can be washed a few times if they are just wet.:
As far as baby clean up, I use the cloth nappy to wipe bubs bot as I take it off and then use cloth wipes and then use the wipe to help it roll into the loo later. Although today DD was helping and we flushed our wipe :doh:

Little squirts - worth their weight in gold
without one
- for runny poo stage, using microfleece liners will REDUCE the mess on the inner of the nappy
- when poos are a bit more formed, even when pastey, the flushable liners come into their own, i find the Tots Bots and the bummis ones are nice and soft for baby
- i would suggest you wash the nappies once a day, do a pre-wash, long wash cycle and long rinse - to help avoid stains.
but get your little squirt as soon as you can manage it, makes things so easy.

rest of year, use an online site like fairy fabrics, nappiescovered, bubbaearth
just cut them up, no sewing required, they don't fray in the wash. just cut to suit your bub's nappies and experiment with the size/shape until you work out what suits your bub best.
