I don't own any PJ's and don't really want to buy any just to wear for a few days in the hospital let alone PJ's which are 3-4 sizes larger than I will be wearing in the future. So I was wondering what you wore in hospital after bubs was born? I was thinking to just wear trackies (or my dh's if I don't fit into mine) and perhaps get around in my warm fluffy robe.
I wore trackies and flowy tops :)
In hospital i wore shorts and a singlet with my light dressing gown (summer obviously), theres no reason why you can't wear trackies a t and a robe... whatever your comfy in.
Just remember you will bleed a bit so i'd suggest not wearing and favourites JIC... ;)
I stayed in my beautiful hospital gown for ages after I had Milly it was just easy at the time....then I just changed into regular clothes.
Ive just packed trackies/ gym type pants too :D
At night I wore PJs and during the day I wore my regular clothes and got dressed.
We live in north queensland so I don't know if it also to do with the weather but the maternity ward here has the temp turned up to keep the newborn babies at a good temp which means it can feel really warm in there. Track pants might be a bit on the warm side here (unless they were light fabrics), but we have winters that average 20*C so it might just be here ...
I wore a breastfeeding singlet, trackies & a jacket.
PJs specifically bought for the occasion :)
They cost about $15 from best & less. Flannel, button front, very elastic waist, perfect post-partum PJs.
just some slightly bigger tshirts and trackies,made sure had nice comfy waiste,and some slippers,it was Summer time but got really cold in the hospital so it was ok,i had to keep walking to the nursery so didnt want to always be in my pjs
I wore Pj's at night and normal clothes during the day. I found it helped me get into a routine getting up in Hospital, showering , getting dressed and eating a nice breakfast. I would shower in the morning when I got up and then just before I went to bed at night.
I don't normally wear Pj's at home. I just find that getting up in the night it's easier if I have them as they are comfortable. I treat myself for when I go into hopsital and have a nice Peter Alexander pair, they last for ages.
As I was BF I also wore a glamour mums top to sleep in until my milk came and then switched over to my booby bib when my milk came in. I would wear both of these like a top at night.
I have light fleece jacket that I wear when it's cold at night for when I get up to feed.
I wore mostly pj pants and a t shirt. i still fit into my normal clothes so thats what i wore.
i wore loose fitting tops and leggings. at night was trackies and a long sleeve top. all from best and less. And slippers or house socks on my feet.
I don't really wear pyjamas either, but my nan had bought me some op shop PJs a few weeks before so mum brought those in for me. The bottoms were too small (my nan keeps forgetting I'm not a size 12 anymore!) but the tops were so silky and flowy and cool... I think I ended up just wearing undies for bottoms, and my bathrobe over it all if I was leaving the room :)
I bought new pj pants and breastfeeeding singlets, and wore trackies, a singlet and jacket during the day. Having new pjs was just bliss, it helped pick me up when i was feeling a bit yuck. Also meant i could have the bag packed earlier cos i wasn't having to keep wearing the clothes.
I got up, had a shower and got dressed every day cos for me that helps me feel good.
I bought a really hilarious old nanna style nightie which buttoned at the front. It was super cheap at Target (any wonder when you see it, LOL!) but it was comfy and made breastfeeding and engorgement a lot easier to deal with. I only wore it at night though.
During the day I wore comfy trackies (the ones that have the waist band that folds over as I'd worn them while pregnant - kept my huge belly warm!), Bonds maternity singlets, a fleece jumper and slippers. I had my dressing gown which was great at night as it always seemed quite cool in our room and I was up and down a lot with DD and fed her in the lounge in the nursery a couple of times.

I mostly wore pjs for the time I was there. Specifically bought for the bleeding/leaking/messes (cheap!). And some dodgy old trackpants I had been too softhearted to throw away previously.
I wasn't huge on appearance. Lol!
pjs aftter i had him then just trackies and a jacket!!!
I went to Target and bought some cheap trackies and 2 flannelette shirts from best and less. Aside from that I wore a few of DF's old shirts.
It really brought new meaning to the word bogan, but I was really comfortable and didn't have to worry about getting blood on anything.
It was money well spent since I still wear the clothes now, even though they're about 3 sizes too big they're soo comfy :D
i got a really cheap pair of pjs - i wanted something with a button up front for night feeds & also something i didn't care if they got blood on them. during the day i wore trakkies & a hoodie.
And I forgot lots of black knickers in a bigger size to house the huge maternity pads! :rofl:

PJ's. What better excuse to be able to stay in your PJ's all nice & comfy all day while speding time with you new babe!

Soft trackies, bonds hoodies and tops I could easily express in.
I think I had PJ's but can't remember wearing them as as I was up and down all hours of the night taking EBM to NICU/SBCU, which were on the level below, I wanted to be comfy :)
Oh the best thing a friend gae me were these bonds slippers as well, I lived in them :D
Normal comfy clothes during the day and PJ's at night.
With DD it was a hospital gown the first night, then PJ pants & long sleeve tops that are easy to BF in for the next 2 days
With DS I wore my nightie once I got dressed after he was born & after I had a shower I got into trackies & a maternity singlet. I was home that night & just wore the maternity singlet & undies to bed
I just wore my tracksuit pants and had some flowy breastfeeding tops. i did have a nightie too for bedtime, but that's because DH bought me one as a special gift.
oh and i had a dressing gown brought in as DD was in SCN for a few days and the middle of the night feeds i didnt want to bother putting on clothes but didnt want to wander the halls in just my nightie lol.
Thanks for all your replies ladies, I didn't mention that it will be warm here when bubs arrives hence why I wont be wearing the pj's when I get home to get my moneys worth out of them. But it's pretty cold in the maternity ward at the hospital so I will be needing long sleeve tops and long pants but it seems that trackies and my robe will be totally ok. The big black knickers are actually one of the few things on my list that I still need to purchase but I wont be going to hospital without them ;)
Yep, I was a trackies girl too. I also had a few tops that made the boobies easily accessible....little did I realise that feeding with a top ON was a skill I would need to learn :D. Very soft and loose trackies because anything else was rubbing in the nether regions, which wasnt nice after a tear.
Nightie at night again for the above reason.
i had pj's last time to labour in this time im going to buy a hops gown.Theres a web site that sells personalised one with a BUTT lol so no butt hanging out wooo
I wore thin trackies and tshirts with mine. I can say that Selangor may feel cold when walking around viewing the rooms and stuff, but my rooms that I was in for both DS and DD1 were really warm, and sitting in bed in light trackies and tshirt (short sleeve) was enough. I slept in pj bottoms and a singlet top and was fine with just the sheet over me as well.
Oh, and DS was a summer baby and DD1 was a winter baby - wore the same clothes for both.
just wore baggy cotton harem pants or black trackies with a breastfeeding singlet and cardy over the top...comfort i say!!!
I bought some black jammies from target that had loose pants in a stretch cotton and a cardi style top that tied in the front in the same fabric. It also came with a singlet but I wore a bf singlet. It looked nice, was comfy and didn't show any stains ;)
I wore my black yoga pants and singlets with DD and with DS the same with a cardi on top. The first few days with DS I actually just wore a cardi on top rather than with a singlet so all I had to do was pull out my booby to feed him, lol! At night I wore button up pj's but I do wear pj's at home anyway. I would reccommend things that are easy to bf in if you plan to bf or express at all.

Yes I've thought about being able to easily access my (.)(.)'s for BF'ing maybe I will need to go shopping after all!
oh and thought to add a comfy mat bra. i found when my milk came in i really needed that bra to help with the ouchie engorgment. i had to send DH out to get a whole cup size bigger just for that week and a bit until it all settled down. but i guess this can be done at the time...if your dh doesnt mind a bit of bra shopping on his own lol!
oh and slippers! i brought my uggies lol! ala yummy mummy hahaha!
cas great thinking on the maternity bra front! dh actually found me the maternity bras that I have now! lol I was just thinking the other day that I might get some that are a size bigger not only in the cup but chest too (not sure if that is the term for it.... it is 1:30am)!
My mum bought me the most gorgeous breastfeeding pyjamas where the top can also be worn just as a nightie. I must say that I wore them most nights after going home as they were easy to BF while co-sleeping and I didn't get cold . I also actually still wear them as they are so nice and soft. They were from Dangerous Curves but I think I got them on eBay. ETA they are called the 2 way PJ.

If you're in any discomfort after birth or a cs, then satin is the best for getting in and out of bed and being able to move and turn comfortably.
With a May and Oct bub I was always hot in the wards. With my Jan bub I went in in a satin nighty and drove home a few hrs after he was born so the hospital a/c didn't bother me!
Even if you don't normally wear PJ's (me either) you can still have fun with a sexy satin nighty, if you get a baby doll style and fill it out post birth it becomes a flowy nighty when you're back to normal :D
