minnie - congrats on 11 fertalised, great start. to answer your question about thawing, i have had differing results from the 2 clinics i have used. first clinic i lost 4 in the thawing process, out of 10 embryos collected over 3 x stim cycles (hope that makes sense!). current clinic has been much better, think ive lost a couple but that has been bc i thawed 2-3 out at the same time and grew them to blast. so it could depend on your clinic lab, or just quality of embryos at the time. doesnt help with your decision making, i know... pity they cant do the pgd for you straight away. the stim i just did, i got 13 at epu, 11 fertalised, 7 biopsied, ended up with 2 normal blasts. so maybe a second stim wouldnt be out of the question? how many does your clinic let you batch? (mine say 6-7 biopsied, anything over that and they treat it like 2 x pgd rounds and charge extra).
-
Thanks Andie that's interesting. I spoke to my clinic & asked them if there was a limit to how many embryos were allowed to be tested per pgd cycle & she said no limit, that's pretty mean they make yours 6 or 7, especially with the odds of 60-70% abnormal !
-
minnie - yeah, i thought it was a bit rough too actually (having max. 6-7 to biopsy). any updates on your cycle?
elle & sunbeam - how are you both going?
hi bf & jbear, hope you're both doing well. :)
-
Andie - How are you feeling? Will you do a HPT or are you strong enough to hold out for a BT?
Elle - When are you getting started?
AFM- I had a horrible doubting day today but I had a big chat with Minnie this morning and that helped heaps  Its just so scary wondering if this will work out in the end and knowing I am so close to the end if it does not. I start Lucin again tomorrow, last pill this coming saturday, time has gone fast.
-
Hi ladies!
60-70% abnormal is just so high... I'm not sure about limits to embryo numbers for biopsy - I just know that I was only allowed to freeze and batch together with a new cycle with 3 or less embies frozen (special permission needs to be granted for any more I think - which I was prepared to do if I ended up with more embies from my last cycle). I'm guessing the ladies here are from all over Australia, so it makes sense that we would have different rules and regulations in our clinics/areas/states.
Thanks for asking after me, Andie - was going to check in on you, too! How are you feeling? Are you going to test soon? When is your BT? Hope you're feeling well and staying positive! I'm doing well - had stitches taken out of my hand which was a relief. It is healing nicely and feels great to have my hand somewhat back (still a bit sensitive and hard to bend a couple of fingers due to location of cut.. silly, silly me). My BT is on Thurs to see what my hormone levels are doing - fingers crossed everything is baseline and I get the green light to proceed with my next cycle. I'm looking forward to moving forward!
How is everyone else going? Hope all are well and happy!:)
-
Hi Sunbeam! Sorry about your day but I'm glad to hear you have some great support. Time sure is flying - good luck for the beginnings of your cycle. One step at a time, one day at a time... stay strong and POSITIVE!! Big hugs to you!
-
sunbeam - im feeling fine, no symptoms again though. and no, im definately not strong enough to hold out for bt. spent a lot of time on google yesterday trying to figure out when trigger should be out of system. i had 5000 pregnyl, and it looks like 10 days should cover it, but i dont want to test and get a positive, then have bt confirm negative/chem. that sucked last month. i am 13 days past trigger now, so i should be ok to test? tomorrow maybe... that will make it 7dp5dt. glad your chat with minnie made you feel better, you're right - it is scary to think about if this will all work. i really hope so.
elle - good to hear your hand is healing, goodluck for your bt on thursday. mine is scheduled for monday, but i will ring clinic and get it done on friday bc i wont be able to wait that long. :)

Sunbeam! I hope you feeling a bit better, I hate those moments. Great to hear that u had a goo chat which helped you. Sending you positive vibes & hugs.
Elle, Good luck thurs hope everything is as it should be for your next cycle.
Andie, hope your doing well, I used to hold out til the day before BT. Hope this one has made itself nice & comfy & you get your BFP.
Minnie, did u decide what you're doing? Sorry if I missed that.
Hi BF, hope your feeling nice & relaxed now.
AFM - keeping busy & trying not to over analyze everything! Have a lil weekend away planned which we are looking forward too. Much love to you all.
-
Ooooo Andie test test test I'm so excited!!!! :crossfingers::goodluck::crossfingers::goodluck::c rossfingers:
J.Bear - Good to see you and glad things are ticking along well for you.
-
hi everyone :)
andie: did you test ? :crossfingers: for you !
sunbeam:  glad i could help
elle: looks like you, sunbeam and i will be cycling around the same time, i'll be starting injections again in about 10 days i think
jbear: sorry if i missed it, when is your next scan ?
afm: the clinic rang me yesterday to sort my cycle and was planning it around a long cycle, i had to say ah no we are doing a short and the nurse was confused, anyway it got sorted and my pgd date will be the end of jan, which actually leaves the possible of doing a short or long cycle, im not sure what to do, if we go again now i get the whole thing over with and have a months rest before a possible transfer or we take a break now and do a long cycle that will based around the pgd date so they will be fresh embryos for testing, both have pros and cons, we will get more back if we do the cycle now but is it better to pay more and potentially have more to test because they don't have to survive a thaw but they will be going back when im still in pain from epu. At the moment we are doing the short because thats what i had in my head we were doing
hi brightfuture and joespratt if you are reading
-
minnie - tough choice, but i would probably do short too. save a bit of money, have a little rest before transfer in jan. its so hard to decide though when you dont know how many from the first batch will be suitable for biopsy. hoping you get some nice numbers to work with & a couple of potential embryos in jan. xx
hi everyone else. i have my bt scheduled tomorrow, not feeling confident as i dont have any symptoms again. not even sore boobs and im on 2 x crinone & 1 x 400mg pessary a day. usually i get sore boobs on 2 crinone a day. i did cave and poas and it came up positive but i know from last month (and my miscarriages) that it doesnt mean anything at this stage. sorry if i sound pessamistic, but im sure you all understand. ill let you know how i go tomorrow. ;)
-
Ohhh Andie quietly for you, good luck for the blood test, I'll be looking for your update tomorrow :)

IVF with PGD # 9
Andie I hope u get some good news tomorrow. I understand where ur coming from with the positive hpt but I hope this one sticks.
Minnie, my scan is not until 18 December ( ages away ) wont have a 12 week scan unfortunately. That's annoying when u have made a decision & someone throws a spanner in the works. I have only ever done fresh trf's so I can't really offer any advice there I'm sorry. Do what u feel is right. xo
-
Andie - I am so hoping for good news for you tomorrow. Let us know how you go - I'll be checking in... :crossfingers:
Minnie - I think we may be starting around the same time. Sorry I don't have more experience to help you out but I agree with J.Bear about doing what feels right. Sounds like great advice to me.
AFM - Taking progesterone for a few days now to bring an end to this cycle so I'm guessing I'll be starting injections again next weekend. I'm excited to get things happening!
Hi J.Bear & Sunbeam!:)
-
Andie - I fully understand your hesitation babe. If I don't get the porno boobs then I don't believe the HPT either. I still have everything crossed that it is good news and your symptoms are coming
Elle - We will be cycle buddies. I start FSH injections next sunday :D
J.Bear - How come you don't get a 12 weeks scan? Don't they understand we need to know how your bub is going!!!;)
Minnie - Decisions decisions decisions!!!! When do they ever stop????
AFM - Last BC pill tomorrow. Probably the last one I will ever take in my whole life, weird feeling!

sunbeam - they didn't think it was necessary to do second beta, but I asked for one to be done monday anyway... ; )

IVF with PGD # 9
Hey sunbeam, how r u? they convinced me 12 week scan is not needed cos I am having the amnio at 15 weeks. I am regretting not pushing to have it anyways (for peace of mind) but its a bit late now to try & get one.
Hope the rest of u are enjoying the weekend xo
-
Andie - I hope tomorrow's numbers are fantastic and that little bean is growing strong.
J.Bear - Yes I think it would have been nice to have both it must feel like ages since you last saw your little bub.
-
Congrats Andie on your BFP! Hope it all continues well for you xx
minniemouse thanks for thinking of me....still stalking you all, wishing everyone the best of luck!!!
AFM a bit in limbo at the moment. After the d&c was bleeding for 2.5 weeks which wasn't much fun and then seemed to get Af a week later albeit a short light one (to be expected I suppose after bleeding for so long). Don't see FS for another 2 weeks to see what path we will be taking from here. Still need to convince DP that we should go again. He has reservations as he thinks with his HD having 2 kids and him to look after will be too much for me to bear. But isn't that up to me to decide? He doesn't think that he will be able to handle having a newborn in the house either with his mod swings that we are trying to get under control with some new mess. But I don't understand how so much could have changed between now and when we did the FET in Sep? If everything had gone to plan I would be almost 14 weeks by now. A bit too late to be changing one's mind me thinks. But FX he will come around & we can start again in the new year.
Wishing everyone a great week ahead xx
-
joe - i hope you can talk your hubby around, goodluck for your upcoming appt.
afm - hcg is now 833 (17dpo), so there is definately something going on in there (i hope its just one thing going on in there... not two...). im relieved, but still a long way to go. scan will be around 10 dec, so again i will wait another 2 weeks for that. im nervous, but things look good on paper at the moment, so trying not to stress too much. question - when/if you have had a bfp before, does your clinic continue with progesterone support or get you to stop? the nurses have told me i dont need to take it anymore, but im a bit nervous about stopping?
how is everyone else going? xx
-
Andie - Whoo yay :leap: fantastic numbers. I really hope this is the start of a smooth, easy and happy 9 months for you. In answer to your question I'd be on prog till 12-15 weeks. Personally I'd stay on it if I was you, it will do you and bub no harm at all and can only help if your prog does happen to fall.
Joe - I'm sorry you are having a rough time with DH and I hope you are able to talk him round
-
thanks, sunbeam. ive continued to take the progesterone anyway, ive got some leftover. i feel the same in that it cant hurt and to be honest ive never been told to stop this early before. odd. ill call the FS today and chat to them too. hope your cycle is trucking along nicely for you. :)

IVF with PGD # 9
Sneaks in- Andie i weaned off pessaries at 14 weeks. I didn't just stop, I was on 1 per day and after 13 weeks went to 1 every 36 hours then one every 48 hours then I stopped! I was scared! Lol goodluck and grow bubba grow!
-
-
IVF with PGD # 9
Sneaking in- Andie my FS told me to stop taking them as soon as I ran out (2 days after positive BT) I freaked out as well but didn't have any spare so had to stop and 14 weeks on I have had not one single problem. Congrats BTW.
-
Andie - You stop at postive BT if its a fresh cycle, otherwise 12 weeks for frozen cycle. Even for my natural FET they said I would have to be on prog for the 12 weeks. I stopped mine (this one was a fresh) and so far so good. If your unsure get a prog test.

IVF with PGD # 9
thanks, mrs mac & vic. : )

hi everyone,
andie: when i got my positive earlier this year the clinic wanted me to stop progesterone straight away, i was nervous and i wanted to stay on it (which i did), in the end it work against me because once bub stopped growing and i stopped the progesterone it took my body over 4 weeks for my body to wean off it and for the miscarriage to happen. Im with sunbeam though, it can't hurt and so i would continue it if it makes you feel better
sunbeam and elle: not long now for you girls
joespratt: sorry to hear you are having problems with your DP, its hard to know what the right thing to do, you don't sound like you are ready to give up so i hope you can sort things out with him
j.bear: shame you missed out on seeing bub again, i wouldn't have been able to not have it hehe
afm: so after a lot of debating we have decided to go with the long cycle, there were lots of issues but i was really worried about having 2 lots of frosties as we have never had any before and i don't know how they are going to go, i start the pill today

IVF with PGD # 9
Hi Andie, so happy to see things are progressing nicely. I was told to finish what I had left which was 5 days worth. Was a bit nervous about stopping but no choice as there was nothing left.
Hi to everyone will do persies when on the lappy tomorrow.
-
IVF with PGD # 9
thanks, minnie & jbear. I will just make my way through what I have left. although I have a whole box of crinone & a weeks worth of pessaries..! can't hurt anyway.
minnie - glad you have a plan sorted and on your way already. xx
hi everyone else. : )
-
Hi girls
BT today showed my levels are baseline so I start my last ever stim on sunday!
Elle - Where are you up to are you cycling with me?
Andie - When is your scan? How are you feeling? Any symptoms yet?
Joe - Any luck talking DH round?
Hi Minnie and J.Bear
AFM - Off to my bestie up on the Sunshine coast tomorrow.
-
great news, sunbeam! i have everything crossed that you will get some lovely embryos to add to your stash. have a great time with your bestie today, sounds like fun. xx
my scan in on the 11 dec... seems like such a long way away. im feeling fine, only thing ive noticed is a bit of tenderness/soreness on the side of my boobs. peeing a bit more, but then im drinking a bit more. hopefully i will have some reassuring nausea soon. ;)
hi everyone else, hope you are all doing well.
-
Hi girls!
Andie - I'm so thrilled for you! Bring on the 11th!!
Sunbeam - Yay for getting started! And double yay for bestie time!!
Hi to everyone else - minnie, J.Bear, JoeSpratt - hope you are all doing well.
AFM - I don't quite know what to make of things at the moment. I ended up taking progesterone to end my last cycle and then to start IVF cycle. I have had a lot of very annoying phone conversations with nurses at the clinic I go to recently and it's all doing my head in. There seems to be communication issues and it is driving me insane. Under my FS's orders, I took the prog to end my last cycle and was told to come in and pick up new meds. When I called to arrange a nurse appt to come and pick everything up, I was told that an application has just been put through to the RTC (for me to continue with embies frozen) and they are not meeting up til the 18th, so probably no orders coming through til then. Um, why then have I just taken prog and been told to pick up meds for cycle beginning in the next couple of days?!? I won't go into the annoying phone calls that followed that... including a couple of "oh hi, so you are wanting to do a cycle are you?" (as if it's suddenly news to them). Grrr... Anyway, where I am at now is... I have been told I can proceed but the cut off date for biopsies being sent for PGD is the 18th, so the timing has to be just right. Based on all the timings from my last cycle, I should just be ok but it is a gamble. I will be hit with a PGD cancellation fee if I proceed with the cycle and don't make that deadline. Or, it could go beautifully and it could all happen just in time with a fresh transfer being possible the week(ish) before Christmas. In the meanwhile, I ended up having a last minute BT this morning to see if my levels are baseline, so if I do proceed, I can start injecting tomorrow (snap, sunbeam!). I basically have to make up my mind today about proceeding. If my levels aren't baseline, then I guess that will make the decision for me. Hmmm...
-
Well, the decision was made for me. My progesterone isn't baseline so this one is not going to happen for me. My FS is on hols til end of Jan so I have a wait ahead of me now. I'm so disappointed.
