All of the eggs fertilised abnormally ie. they all had 3 pronuclei, doc recommended that kim not have any children...thats it for us folks!! All the very best to everyone and thank you so much for your support, i hope you all get your BFP really soon xxx

Hi everyone

I use to be a regular poster on this board, especially when going through IVF cycle # 1 and 2 but before heading into # 3 I got myself a job and have found it really hard to get into work and keep up with posts etc!!!!

Anyway I read through some posts and decided I would love to come back if you will have me!

I just had my OPU yesterday for IVF # 5.
I wont go into my long detailed history but here is a short version.........

We tried for 7 years 7 months before getting our first BFP through cycle # 6 of ovulation induction mixed with IUI. I m/c at 5 weeks. we did 3 more for a total of 8.

I decided to give up TTC altogether and lo and behold I ended up with a natural BFP in Jan 05 another m/c at 5 weeks and there the pattern started. Feb, March and May 05 the same thing BFP at 4 weeks m/c at 5 weeks.

I decided to go see a doctor as it appeared my problem getting pregnant was no longer a problem!

I went to MIVF this time and I was told I needed to do IVF to stay pregnant so we decided to go for it!
IVF # 1 I only got three eggs but it worked...... but again was short lived and I m/c at 5 weeks. The second IVF didnt work at all even though we got 6 eggs and 2 embies.
The third IVF worked too from 8 eggs we got 2 embies and a BFP but I m/c again at 5 weeks and had totally stumped the doctor! We decided to try again and we only got 3 eggs but again it worked and this time my HCG went up and up but it was very irregular and at the 6 week scan we found the bub had died days earlier and I ended up having a D & C...... which didnt work and 2 weeks later I actually passed the tissue which was extremely painful

So here we are again we had our OPU yesterday and only got 4 eggs! I have a time for transfer so we at least got one embryo which is good! I am also getting booster shots of pregnyl and am going on heparin twice a day to see if that helps.

We hope and pray that this works. I am struggling to decide if I could go through this again. We are also considering donor eggs...... I already have a donor if that is the way we go! We dont know if that would help so its somthing we have to really think about as we really dont know the reason why I keep miscarrying! I dont want to make this time miscarriage # 10

On the subject of donors.......... does anyone know anything about embryo donation. I know someone who wants to donate their embryos but they want to know more about it.
Questions like....

Has anyone has done it or received it? Is it anonymous or not in australia. And what kind of checks they do on the receiving couple and how long is the waiting list. AND finally how many embryos do a couple get & how many cycles with the embryos if it doesnt work
Can you pick someone to receive them? etc

I know it sounds strange when I could be the one receiving these embies but I am related to them and it would be just too awkward to use them and they would not want that anyway!

Any one can point me in the right direction would be most grateful!

Cazz - nice to see you back, although wish it were for better reasons, of course :) As far as donors go - I am assuming you are talking about not just an egg or sperm but a sperm donor that fertilises a donated egg? Well, Im not sure about the details of how it all goes - but I am sure that it is not anonymous in NSW, although Im pretty sure it may be different in other states. Im pretty sure, but dont quote me, that the receiving couple need to find the donors themself...

Of course, Im not 10% sure of much of that and unsure of the answers to the other questions.... except for

Hi Girls

Its amazing what a little research can do, i have been busily looking into ICSI and 3 pronuclei embryo's and seems they are related!! So it may not have been Kim's eggs's at all! The details are on my blog, but basically they can be due to excessive disruption of the oolemma when the needle penetrates the egg.

Regardless of why it happened, Kim and I did not consent to ICSI and if we had not have asked to speak to the scientist after the EPU, we would never have known...

She came into recovery and the first thing she said was "Hi, my name is ..... and I am your scientist, I have just finished stripping your eggs for ICSI and there are two mature eggs and one we arent sure of so we are going to inject it anyway"...

I said, but we didnt ask for ICSI...Why do we need ICSI??? She said, "oh, well, your doctor ordered it" [LIE] and i said "but why, we don't need it"...and she said "probably because of your poor fertilisation rate before" [LIE] and i said "but these aren't my eggs they are kims, she is my donor and if i wanted ICSI i wouldnt have bothered using a donor"...she just said she would look into it.

They keep saying that it could only be a good thing but of course they would say that to cover their buts. If i wanted ICSI i would have asked for ICSI and Doc DID NOT order it, i asked him and he was totally unaware...but apparently "the board" of the fertility clinic have "decided" to perform ICSI on all cycles using donor sperm "for free" due to 1. a lack of donor sperm and 2. them having to lower their standards for donors and accepting donors with lower counts and less than optimal quality...because of the change in legislation regarding anonymity.

I mean if i were to consider ICSI, i would have used it on my own eggs first...but for personal reasons my choice is NOT to use ICSI...mainly due to my belief in "Natural Selection" and the fact that i don't have Male Factor Infertility.... Still If i chose it for poor fertilisation rates, i would have used my own eggs first if at all...but the fact remains they are using ICSI for their own benefit not mine...

I have made a complaint but am seriously considering taking legal action as they did not have written or verbal consent and it goes against any of the Minimum Standards for use of ICSI and i quote said Minimum Standards...

"ICSI is to be a clinical decision made in advance and it is not appropriate for the matter to be raised with the patients for the first time in the emergency situation, especially by laboratory staff on the day of oocyte retrieval. Emergency ICSI is to be allowed only if this possibility has been foreshadowed and discussed at the time of clinical examination and counselling, so that the patients are able to give effective consent to the procedure."

I am thinking about changing FS and looking into Tubal Flushing with Lipadol and using IUI with Clomid and Donor Sperm from the USA which is of a very high standard. So girls i haven't given up, I am just getting started...

Wow - Megan and kim you are really doing the next positive step i think you are on the right track and i really dont know anything about ICSI or IUI! I would be as mad as you both must be at the moment, and myself having trouble in the past with clinic communication i understand how you must be feeling. Sometimes it amazes me that these prople are playing with our lives.

Megan and Kim - I'm so sorry to hear that things didn't work out this cycle :hugs: but it's great that you're not giving up altogether. I think it's pretty disgraceful that ICSI was done without your consent - it seems like a fine ethical line to start treading, especially when we're talking about creating human beings.

Cazz - with respect to the embryo donation, DH and I were told that once we'd used as many embryos as we wanted to, we were able to choose to either discard our excess embryos, donate anonymously or to donate with our details being available if the receiving couple wanted to access them.

:clap: Good for you Megan and Kim... I am so glad you are taking a stand against the ICSI decision... sometimes these guys forget they are playing with peoples emotions and lives here.... People who work in this industry sometimes become 'hardened' to what they are dealing with, every now and then they need to take a step back and give themselves a reality check... yay Last day of the pill for me today, just when i thought this cycle was getting alittle stagnant and thought i was never going to move onto the next step (although its only been a mth!)

I hope everyone else is doing well and hoping the Oct is the month for us all and November, December, Jan, Feb, March........................................ got to cover all our bases.

I'm glad you're being proactive about this. A lot of the time, we are treated like we don't have a brain in our heads, and decisions are made for us where a more natural approach may have been the better solution. You go get em, girl!

Well I start my gonal injections tomorrow and am relly nervous about it. We will see how we go!

I had my ET yesterday. FRom 4 eggs we had 2 fertilise and one turn into an embryo so we had it transferred!

I am now getting use to the heparin injections and tomorrow will take my first pregnyl shot!

Thought I'd update where I'm at.

Went to Gyn. last week...disappointed with his manner but at least he seems to be doing some tests with me (rather than the last couple who have said "I'm fine!")...it's been about 33 months of TTC so I'm not feeling like everything is so fine...

Anyway...just waiting for AF to arrive...thought I might be pregnant a few days ago...had lots of early signs including spotting, cramping. metallic taste, high temps, headaches...but now my temperature is dropping pretty rapidly so it's not looking good...it's a cruel game, hey?

Once AF arrives, I have about 10 tests to do over the next month...8 blood tests and a few ultrasounds...fun, fun, fun!!! But hopefully it will give us some more information...

The Dr. said the next thing after the testing will be medication (probably Clomid) and then we'll see what happens...

Well went to the nurse today and I chickened out and she had to do the first injection for me. DH will have to do the rest as I just cannot do it!

I am seeing Dr Gronow and while he is a little vague with all the details the nurses are great!! And I must say I do not know where I would be without this web site to keep me up to date with it all. Yayyyy for belly belly!

Oh well off to the gym for a 45min torture spin class!

zap, good idea getting DH to do the jabbing! I don't think I will be able to do it either! I should start mine next week sometime. I imagine the 45 minute spin class is much worse than the injection though! lol

Lou, IKWYM about feeliing like this cycle wasn't getting anywhere! Things seem to be on the move now though! How is synarel treating you?

Well, I've been on synarel for a week now and feeling pretty good. I had heard a few horror stories about it and thankfully I've been ok. DH is relieved I think after my mood swings when I started the pill! I've got my BT this morning and then I guess I find out the next step when I get my results this afternon. I think I would be starting my injections early next week sometime.

Ahhhhh! So didn't want her around...especially this month.

My SIL is due in 1 week. It's been hard for the family as everyone has felt pretty torn between being excited for them and also being very aware of what our situation is...We've been trying for nearly three years whilst they started only a year ago and whammo!!!

I was hoping that a pregnancy would have helped everyone totally enjoy the new arrival...(not that I would have announced it to my SIL just yet, that would have been bad form)!!!

Oh well!

Like you say Zap, hopefully the tests will give us some answers...

I just want to say thankyou to everyone for sharing your stories...as much as I don't want anyone to experience fertility problems, it's nice to know that you're not on your own.

Leis - i am so excited for your trip its been ages since ive been home and visited every one am planning to go next year as mum came three times this year and its my turn, wanting dh to come to but getting time off work and having the house empty is a little hard.

Had a job interview today i always get so nervous which is crasy as i love my job and know i can do it really well (childcare) but have gone for a 2nd in charge position at the same centre. will find out next week if yes. and if it is yes then i have to have another interview with HS coordinator . she is also lovely but really knows her stuff and that makes me feel even more nervous!

anyway ... bleeding alittle since stoping the pill but have a scan on monday to know whether to start jabbing on Tuesday or not. I hope i can as Gyn is going away and if my dates are all on time she can squeese in a tf b4 she goe. Sounds really odd!!

Just recieved a letter from monash storage for our 9 snow bubs there but dont know wether to transpher them to Melbourne clinic has anyone transphered snow bubs b4 in here would be greatfull to know how it went as i dont want to loose them!!!

Hi everyone

Sorry I have had a headache for the last few days so I haven't felt like sitting at the pc at night. I had my down reg scan this morning and all is looking good so I start jabbing tomorrow. Other than that not much news here, my headaches have been shocking, I am still a bit dodgy tonight but I went to see the chiropractor tonight for an adjustment so hopefully will feel better soon.


Rachael - I am getting DH to do my jabs as well, we have been having much discussion on where exactly in the rear to do it, even though they have explained it twice LOL I am sure we will sort it out.

Lou and Megan - sounds like you guys are still not far behind me, glad to hear things are going well

Lou - yep I did have bleeding for a few days. When we discussed the jabs they suggested the stomach if I do my own or the bottom if DH does it for me. I think that would be easier for him too without me watching him, out of sight out of mind I think.

Ps nah not TMI, I don't mind talking about stuff like that in here, we are all in the same boat I figure :)

Lou, I finished the pill on Saturday and have had no bleeding at all. I keep feeling like AF will arrive at any minute and it hasn't happened yet.
I had my Bt test today after a week on synarel and everything is going well so they have told me to start injections on Friday. It's moving really quickly now so I'm getting nervous.
Then I have another BT and scan next Friday to decide when EPU will be.
Jane I know the feeling re the headache. I have had one all week and today was awful. I ended up leaving work a couple of hours early because I just couldn't cope. The computer and stuffiness of the office (they can't get the a/c sorted out!) wasn't agreeing with me. I've had a bit of a sleep and it has eased. My nurse said the headaches should calm down once I start injections. I hope so.

Oh and Lou, good luck with the job, hope you get good news next week!! :)

More bad news from the specialist today - its just slowly slipping further and further... not much I can do.. is one of those things that is taking its time to really sink in I think...

WELL, there better be a serious number of more graduates this month - I complained last month and we ended up with 4 leaving, Ali, Ally & Allie and also Jade... so I think if we can manage that each month for a while we should empty the rest of you ladies outta here in no time...

Oh Keen, I'm so sorry you're having to go through all of this right now. I really hope that all is not lost and there is a way you can have your much wanted bub in the near future.
I agree, a good number of graduates this month is what the Dr ordered. I think last month, it certainly helped if your name was Ally though!! lol
There are so many of us on the go right now that there ought to be some good news in this thread over the next month!

I got off the pc last night after chatting with a georgious friend who has been on chemo for the last goodness knows how long and she is on the mend YAY i am so so so so happy for her she is a very special person to me. Well ive told her about you guys and i hope she comes to say hi as ahe asked her doc what the chances would be with the eggs she has in storage and he said good. im so eggcited !!(pardon the pun) for her. Like i said she is a very special person who i really dont see enough of.

Well of to work but just had to share that news oh and the TMI that i am now having a FULL AF (I am punching these keys with so much anger at the mo!

Hope everyone else is doing well - sorry for the lack of personals but i've been very slack in posting latley and it's made it hard for me to keep up - I've had so many things on my plate lately. Nothing happening here just going to keep trying and hoping for a miricle.Our next specialist appointment isn't until Decemeber then we'll start looking at what our other options are.

Thank you all so much for your support during this really hard time.

I've been thinking alot about my options now and would like to see what you all think. When i had the lap and dye at 21, everything came back normal. Since then i haven't tried to conceive naturally for obvious reasons.

Has anyone heard of Tubal Flushing?? If my tubes turn out ok, and since i ovulate, but maybe only one in four of my eggs actually fertilise, maybe IUI with Clomid will give me a better chance so that if there are 2 follicles there maybe one of them will be "a good one".

Does anyone know of a good gynae in brisbane that i could go to for the procedure (HSG with Lipidiol Flushing)..
