I wear Napoleon Light Diffusing Makeup (liquid) in Look 2! I love it!! Then I put the Camera Finish over the top!
how is Napoleon for pricing. i wear Max Factor Pan Stick at the mo, but always love trying something new...
Sonya, I go to the Max Factor Warehouse Sale here in Melb & buy enough pan sticks to last a life time! (About 2 yrs ago the pansticks were $1 each!) Hee hee I kinda stick to what I know...? But am interested to hear in napoleon now too!
I think I paid approx $140 for my liquid foundation and powder. So they were around $70 each.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK, I'll stick to the Max Factor Sale then!!!!!
hehe where I am napoleon is $55 for the stick :) I think they have all the pricing on their website anyway. I need more so I hope the prices haven't gone up! lol
F...........K!!!!! was what i said to those prices. umm dont think so. might have to hit rellies up for Napoleon gift vouchers for xmas. do they do that? i thought $20 on ebay was enough for max factor.. but i guess it must be good.
LOL Sonya... it is expensive but I LOVE IT!! I don't usually spend too much money on myself so that I guess is my splurge!! I am sure they would do gift vouchers but don't quote me as I have never asked. It does last for ages though!!
Yep I'll stick to my $1 panstick at the sales!!! I think I have about 8 in the cupboard!!! LOL...
Also when I am in bali they have all the big brand names for WAY cheaper than here, I might look for Napoleon!!!! hee hee!
where is this warehouse trace??? im intigued!
I am always on the look out for the "perfect" foundation. I am yet to find it.
Well the red earth one about 7 years ago was perfect but they stopped making it.
I just bought an $8 one from my chemist and it is flawless! I love it. I was wearing it in our professional photos on masons website. See how smooth it is?
I use Revlon Colour Stay and MAC Studio Fix Fluid applied with a brush.
I currently use Estee Lauder, since I was a teenager, but only because I haven't been bothered to look at others... might have to check a few of these out ;)
I don't wear it. I own some mascara & lipgloss that I can't find LOL.
I always use Revlon colour stay too now - very easy to apply and it really does stay on. Really good pricing on revlon stuff too. I did use nutrimetics for a while but my face doesn't agree with it for some reason now.
I use Clinique because I once had a patch of eczema on my face and it was the only one that I tried that seemed to let it heal. It also is the only brand that has a shade that matches my skin tone. I don't like a foundation to add colour or a fake tan look... I prefer it to match the actual skin but not to get a washed out appearance that is too pale. Being a fine art graduate I am very aware of colours and subtle shades and most foundations are too orangey. I can't stand "tide marks" on jaw lines which many women get when they choose a shade too dark for their skin tone.
I'd like to choose a more ethical/cheaper brand. Clinique is about $60 a bottle but it lasts me almost a year as a SAHM who doesn't wear it every day. Also i like it's moisturising properties and the fact that it has no fragrance. I think added fragrance in beauty products causes a lot of health issues and isn't good for the skin.
I tried a Miessence (same brand as InLiven) foundation but it didn't suit my skin tone... the range was too limited. I wish they would expand because I like that brand.
I am a M.A.C girl - but I was at Napolean on Friday and got a very glam lip gloss and have decided next time I need foundation I will try Napolean... It's a bit cheaper than M.A.C and I can't get M.A.C here so I need to have it sent from Brissy...
A good makeup makes you feel special I think...
I went on a new foundation hunt last Friday night and after a few places I ended up at Napolean and was all set to buy Napoleon Light Diffusing and camera finish but when I was ready to seperate from my money they had none in stock sooooooo I will get it next time. Ended up with Lancome "colour ideal" very happy with it but will get Napoleon next time...lol just looked where you are from Danielle they must love that combo
Bec
Danni,
It's only once or twice a year Sale & it's in Glen or Mount (I always get them confused) Waverley!!!
LOL Bec... that is hilarious! They must love that combo down here!! At least they are consistent though
I like the Covergirl Smoothers tinted moisturiser, medium-dark, SPF15+; I put it on every day and it is never greasy. Every other (expensive) foundation or similar product I tried was too greasy on my skin. This is the only thing I have found that is great to put on each morning and looks natural while giving a slight tanned look - and the best part is it is very cheap from Priceline! :D
I wear Laura Mercier - oil free - $90 for 50 ml and worth every penny!
I always get comments on my skin when i wear this (which is not that often) and its the only foundation i've ever tried which i put on and actually makes my skin look fantastic but like i'm not wearing anything. I dust a light covering of translucent powder over the top and thats it.
The price isn't bad too when a bottle like that would last me a year, and that is based on wearing it twice a week or so.
Lux - heard Laura Mercier is fantastic......never tried it though.
I use Mirenesse...aussie based co. About $40 for 50ml.......
I purchase a lot of things online....i would love to try another brand, but scared of what shade to choose....i love the shades in mirenesse.
I don't wear it.
Instead, i wear a tinted moisturiser and it looks just like foundation but its more moisturising... i use Nivea visage tinted moisturising care
Mmmmm...I might check out Napoleon too...
I'm a Revlon girl mostly...use most of their makeup...and I'm a daily wearer so I have to be careful that I can afford my habit!
Maybe I'll go and do a little splurge before baby turns up...
I use the Napoleon stick too and pay about $55.00 as well. It does last a while and if you buy the applicator brush it lasts even longer. The brush is expensive too at about $75, but I've had mine for about 18 months and I'll have it for ages. You're supposed to 'shampoo' the bristles every few days but I probably clean mine once a month. (Norty Norty!) A stick of Napoleon applied with the brush lasts me about 5 months and I use it every day. You can get it on ebay. I got it for about $47 incl postage once.
i don't wear it. i used to wear it and would look worse with it than without it as my skin would just go all dry and peely. Sometimes i put on mascara if i am out on the town but thats it,
Hi Girls!
I wear Estee Lauder - Have done for the last 15yrs!!
My GF that I lived with was a consultant when I first moved out of home, and it was always in the bathroom!
I went through a stage of trying new ones (tried EVERYTHING), but found that I was too spoilt from the beginning, and so I stayed loyal to Estee Lauder!
My SIL has worked for Loreal, Australis, Napoleon & Garnier, and I tried all of those, but wasn't happy.
I was really happy with MAC and Chanel, but Mac is hard to get, and Chanel is too much $$$!!!
Estee Lauder costs me around $65 and lasts around 4-5months - and I wear it everyday, so I figure it really works out to be not that expensive.
Its also the only one that doesn't wear off by the end of the day.
I have never worn it at all, but recently, on the advice of the girl that did my wedding make up, I bought a tinted moisteriser.....Stila Sheer Colour........I love it.....it is luminous and light and doesn't feel like a mask, IYKWIM, but covers up the nooks and crannies that are rapidly appearing..........it lasts all day and is a perfect match for my skin tone.........
I have the Napolean stick too, but I only wear it when I want a heavier coverage. Can I recommend the Luminizer Palette too, it is a compact with about 5 or 6 diferent shades in it. You can use it for blush, eyeshadow, hightlighter and lipstick. I got mine in Feb 2006, I use it every day and I still have plenty left. I know I should buy more but hey, it still has heaps.
I am currently using the L'oreal Infallible foundation, It provides a great coverage and it last's all day, which is what I love.
MiEssence have a new range of foundations... going to give them another try... love that they have sample sachets so that you can try before you buy a whole bottle.
I would love to wear napoleon but cant afford it. I remember getting my little sister a napoleon foundation brush and it cost $70!!!!!! (no foundation just the brush!!!!!)
I love Revlon colourstay but have jsut found the covergirl trueblend mousse type foundation. Very light and feels so nice on my skin.
I do wear a powder over the top to seal my makeup and that is a mineral powder by Physicians formula.
I also wear a lighter shade of foundation in Winter as the rest of my skin is paler thatn I do in Summer when I have a bit of a tan (even if it is from a bottle!!!)
Yep, I have at least 2 shades of the same brand (Clinique) on the go at any one time... one for summer, one for winter. I also wear paler foundation at night... for some reason it looks better.
Nutrimetics here. Just got the Cover Rich and it is quite good at covering my "imperfections" without having to spend ages with the concealer.
*ducks*
Chanel Mat Lumiere and Diorskin Extreme Fit. Expensive (I usually buy off eBay or scout around online to find the best deals, we don't have a Myer/DJ's or individual stores here), but seriously worth every. red. cent.
I find it really hard to track down a foundation that has good coverage without becoming cakey (I have a big scar on my cheek that I'm self-conscious of, and my skin-tone is quite uneven), and my skin is that odd *white* tone that most foundations are far too orange or pink for. Dior has an amazing range of shades for Cullen-esques like me so I figure it's well worth spending the extra cash to get something that looks really, really good rather than saving a few bucks and getting something pretty average.
I'm a SAHM so I don't get to crack them out very often, for day-to-day wear I use L'Oreal Infallible (mixed with an Avon foundation to stop the cakeyness, especially during summer, and get the colour just perfect) and finish with L'Oreal True Match powder (which I also use with the more expensive foundations, it's really nice).
everytime i find a foundation i love, they discontinue it!! grr
first it was a covergirl compact in ivory, they changed the formula so now its all oily.
then it was rimmel stay matte and say matte powder both ivory and then they changed the formula and its oilyier.
now im using revlon colorstay liquid in ivory, i hate having to put powder on but this one goes on so nice, high coverage so i dont need powder, and not oily! its sooo hard to find foundation light enough, so many brands ive tried eg maybelline, rimmel all say ivory as the lightest but its still to dark/orange for me. i use the revlon everyday so a bottle that costs $30 onl lasts 3-4 weeks but its sooo nice! for awhile ice accessories had them on special for $20 a bottle (old packaging) and i mustve bought them out!
Hard to find a brand that makes the foundation light enough: Try Clinique... I had the same problem. Clinique can be expensive but a little goes a long way (often the case with a good quality foundation).
I usually wear Revlon new complexion, its nice & light & the colour suits me well. However I've just purchased Mac studio fix for my wedding & its a stunning foundation.
Napolean does a range that you can get in Target. Can't remember what the range is called, but the foundation tubes are around $45. I really like this foundation.
I use the Napolean Auto-Pilot Primer too, which you can't get at Target, but sells for about $70 at Myers / DJs underneath.
I really, really want to get the Napolean Auto Pilot pore filler too but its rather expensive for a tiny tube and I really dont wear make-up that much to justify it.
Primer makes all the difference doesnt it? The mac one is fantastic but I've also found the revlon primer to be great as well
