Surely I can't be the first to post in here ;) DS2 (Wade) was born 13/4 at 12:56pm; Easy, intervention free, until 2 stitches afterwards, birth. Ds2 breastfed well in delivery room but has struggled today and last night although he's gotten better tonight.

Hi leckert, DD2 arrived 10/4 at 5:12am. I would love to say it was easy but I would be kidding myself. Labour was only 6 hours start to finish but very intense and a few stitches required and a little gas at the end. Emily (DD2) has only just these last two nights started to settle. She wanted to feed hourly for the first four days, my bb's were so engorged and today they are settling too, thankfully.
Hopefully your bubba gets the hang of the feeding quickly.

Hi girls! My little girl was born the 27th of April at 9:15am by elective c-section due to alot of complications from my natural birth with my first baby (she is now 3). How are we all feeling? I have been soooo tired as my little one has been using my booby as a dummy. Waking every hour of a night time just to settle with a few sucks :( I have started with the self settling and it's going well so far although it's only been 2 days but I feel she isn't needing me as much only when she is due for a feed.

Hi Becky, all is going ok here. I hear you on the tiredness . I have managed Ro get through mastitis, heamorroids and bow a cold in the last 5 weeks sine DD2 Emily arrived. She is settling well though, thank god for the dummy or she would be sucking constantly too. DD1 wouldn't take a dummy and self settled so DD2 is a different kettle of fish - interesting how they are different.
I hoe your bubba gives you a rest and continues to settle. It took DD2 a good 2-3 weeks to settle better and she is getting better at it each day.

Oh no Crowe you poor thing having to tackle all that and a newborn too :( Glad you getting better. How jealous am I of you being able to give Emily a dummy. Unfortunately I can't give Ellie one as I have only taken the dummy off my 3 year old little girl a couple of months back and it was very hard for her and us so I didn't want to bring one into the house otherwise it might upset her again. Would be wonderful though. How many sleeps is Emily having during the day and how often does she wake of a night time? Hope you had a lovely Mother's Day too :)

Emily has naps mainly during the day and usually only one good sleep of more than an hour at lunch time. She was waking twice a night early on (feeding 3-4 hourly) at the moment she goes 7-8 hours after her 8pm feed so that's great. My boobs normally wake me up sooner though.. How is Ellie going? And your 3 year old? Our Sarah gave us hurry curry for the first few weeks and is just now getting better with some introduced structure to her day.

Oh my god that is amazing that she sleeps so well I envy you lol. Ellie is going well she has 2-3 2hr sleeps during the day and wakes every 2-3 hrs of a night for a feed :( How did you get Emily to sleep for so long or are you just lucky to have her do it on her own. My 3 year old is going well she loves her little sister to bits but too much sometimes, we have to tell her that she isn't a doll and you have to be careful, she thinks she's a big girl and can do everything with her. Her behaviour has gotten a bit worse since Ellie has arrived so hopefully this will settle. What did you do to introduce structure to Sarah's day?

Hi Becky, I'm not sure why Emily sleeps so well, just lucky I guess. She does cluster feed every two hours from around 3pm each day and doesn't sleep as much as Ellie during the day??? With Sarah she had to be dressed, teeth and hair done in the morning before tv goes on, that way we are ready to go if need be like to daycare. She has to have quiet time on my bed with a book for half hour minimum every day after lunch and lights and all off at 7:30pm.
I also make a point of doing an activity with her morning and afternoon like drawing and reading. That's about it, it seems to work at the moment anyway.

You are very lucky Emily sleeps so well, I am hoping Ellie sleeps better any night now lol :) Think I need to get some sort of routine happening with Ava (3 year old) aswell. It is such a big change for them too I guess that's why they play up a bit in the beginning. Ava is so used to getting all the attention but not anymore. What a great idea I might have to find a bit of time out of the day just for her and I. Thanks for the tips.

Lily was born 26 April at 840 am by elective c/s as all the scans showed she was likely to be in the 90th percentile if we went to term (EDD 9/5). She weighed in at 3.335 kgs but was still a fairly complicated c/s

I'm bfing and comping with formula as my milk has taken a while to come in but hope we are starting to get there.

Hi emmajt! Welcome and congrats on the arrival of your little girl Lily! I also had an elective ceaser due to complications with my natural birth with my first daughter. What complications did you have? Are you ok? Hope your not too sore. I had really bad bruising for 2 weeks and just starting to feel a bit better now thank god. How are you finding the breast feeding and bottle? I am giving Ellie a bottle of a night time before bed to get her used to it as it took me forever to get my first daughter onto the bottle. I breastfed my daughter for 8 months and am planning to breast feed for 6 months with Ellie. I am finding it too be a bit draining at the moment though, think I am just tired. Hope your getting enough sleep and Lily is being good for you :)

Wow - took me about 3 goes to read this thread - I'm so tired and brain dead after a couple of horror nights with Lily. I honestly don't think they were that bad, just waaaaaaay worse than I've been used to. Poor baby has a horrible nappy rash which just looks so painful and I think that is really taking her away from being her usual placid self. The 6 or 7 pooey nappies a day are not helping her.

She's pretty good moving between bb and bottle - definitely prefers the bb though. Getting lots of return visits from the formula though - as more of my milk comes in she still wants to gobble the bottle and then doesn't need it so much so it all comes back. The battle to slow her down is fun.

With my c section, we did it because Lily was showing up on all the scans as being bigger than the 90th percentile and was also sitting really high. The actual procedure took more than an hour and a half and I lost over a litre of blood. Turns out my uterus was really deep in my cervix and really close to my bladder so there were some worries about my bladder. Sentences I never want to hear from my OB again - "now take her uterus out" ... He put it back, but still ... He told me afterwards that if we'd been doing an emergency ceasar Lily would probably not have survived, and he doesn't know if I'll be able to have another. My 6 week check up should be a really fun appointment - I'm writing loads of questions as I think of them. Not sure what we will do with the other frozen embie we have, but I'm treasuring every second I have with my girl.

You poor thing having to go through that. How scary to hear them say "take her uterus out" eek :( Lucky you did go for an elective c-section though you must be feeling pretty happy that your little princess is here nice and safe. My fingers are crossed for you for your 6 week check up too. Poor Lily having nappy rash, my friends little girl always had it and had a few bad nights there too, and they actually worked out it was the baby wipes that did it to her, even the fragrant free ones so she had to use wet face washes instead. Make sure you cake the cream on her. I have found if I don't put cream on my little one for even a day she gets a rash :(

How are all your little ones with your husbands/partners? I have found that she cries most of the time when he has her which makes it hard on me as I'm having to cope with two kids on my own half the time. Husband gets a bit upset that she does this and the only thing I can think of is she can smell my breast milk and feels comforted when I am cuddling her. My first daughter did the same thing when she was only a few weeks old.

Emmajt welcome to you and Lily. Sounds like Lily's entrance to the world was quite eventful, hopefully she starts to settle soon. The nappy rash is annoying, have you tried sudocrem? I think it's great stuff. Hopefully your 6 week checkup goes well.
Becky29 do you use a cloth nappy or something similar when breast feeding? I do and it has my smell and breast milk on it after a feed, you may be able to throw it over hubby's shoulder when he nurses your little one that way she will still feel close to you??? Just a thought.
AFM I am taking DD1 to GP at 2pm for 4 years needles (fun,not) and to try and sort out a recurring impetigo issue. I also have our 6 week check up on wednesday. Emily went from 6pm to 1:30am then 6am between feeds last night so I feel like a new woman, fingers crossed it's not a one off.

Hey Crowe you lucky girl getting a good nights sleep well done Emily! Keep it up for Mummy! Yes I use a facewasher when breastfeeding and what a great idea, I am going to have to try that one tonight. All I want is to have a shower without hearing Ellie crying in the background. Oh no I hate taking the kids to docs for needles. How did Sarah go? Ava is due for her 4 year needles February next year and I am not looking forward to it that's for sure. Hope all goes well with your week check up :)

Hey Becky29, the needles went great Sarah was very brave. I hear you on the crying thing when your trying to have a shower!!! You just want to have a nice relaxing shower but if your like me you can't relax when they are bellowing in the background.
Had a good night with the sleeping again lastnight, hopefully you guys are stringing some hours together too.

Glad to hear Sarah went well Crowe, she really is a brave girl. Hope Ava is just as brave. Yep I can't relax either when they are crying in the background. Sometimes having a shower feels like the only time you get to yourself but it isn't when they decide to scream the whole time your in there. Oh well one day we might get some peace lol. Good girl Emily for sleeping well for Mummy last night. Ellie still waking every 2 hours and I am really tired, not sure when she will get better, hopefully very soon :)
