I automatically think of girl :) - two of my friends both named there respective daughters Mackenzie, so i could be biased :D - I LOVE that name but it was vetoed by DH :(
Originally I would have said boy, before finding BB, but then there are a couple of little girls named Mackenzie on here so I am heading more for girl these days... sorry not much help am I!
I automatically think girl :)
Definitely girl for me.
Boy for me, I dont know anyone by this name IRL, and for me it conjures up nicknames like Mac and Macca which are boy names for me :)
I think girl I like it:D
i think girl
I think of a girl.
I think girl!
I automatically think girl but thats because there is a radio announcer on the local wire who has a daughter named Mackenzie Paige and he talks about her heaps during his shows.
Thanks... I was assuming most people would jump to girl, but Manhattan, it is great to know some think BOY.
I love it as a boys name... Mack... I always have, I think is is a strong sounding masculine name, But now is is so female orientated, I am concerned that if I chose to use is that way my poor son would be though of as a girl when people read his name, or calling out Mackenzie in a playground, I would get 10 girls looking round, and then my poor little boy... And knowing how many people love is as a girls name worries me too...
Dunno, we are really struggling with naming this little one...
Girl... only know girls with this name.
Boy for me and I don't know anyone with the name other than one that has it as a middle name, oddly enogh a girl LOL!
i think of a GIRL but these days anything goes and i wouldnt be suprised or shocked if someone had a boy and used this name. Names are just soooo hard
I always used to think of it as a boys name, but in the last few years I know of 2 baby girls that have been born & named MacKenzie so now I'm a bit swayed
No help, sorry sweetie xxx ;)
Definately a girl.
Automatically think Girl
Would it be so bad to use it for a boy? I think it sounds so masculine...
Oh I just dont know :wall::
Definately a girl.
Have you thought about any other "Mac" names? McKinley... Macauley... Maclean... ummm.... I'm sure there's more - have a look through the phone book maybe?
I think it's not so nice to have a name that is mistaken for the wrong gender, especially for boys. I have an uncle with a "girls" name, and he gets mail addressed to Mrs. So-and-So all the time. Must have been brutal in highschool.
But my perspective on MacKenzie is also North American, and it could very well be that the name would be well accepted for a boy in Australia.
All the best with your name hunt - I know it's hard!
I think of a girl. I know someone who named their son Mackinley and call him Mack for short.
Girl.
Definitely think of it as a girls name - now I've seen it so much!
Good luck with finding a name for your little prince, I bet your having so much difficulties with finding a name
Girl.
i think girl hunn xx
Personally I have never heard of this being used as a boys name so I automatically think girl.
Girl with the nickname Kenzie hehe. But also boy, but mostlly girl now.
definately a girl name
my first thought was 'whats the middle name?' lol so, in other words... i have no idea, and id be hoping for a clue as to whether it was a boy or girl!
yeah I think Girl also, with the nickname Kenzie....it's actually a name DH put on his list for girls names he likes. I actually think it looks girly too....sorry.
But FWIW, I love the name Mack, it would be no1 on our list if my sister didn't have her heart set on Max for if they have a boy.
I love Mack, but I dont like using "nicknames" for names... and I really cant find another mack name that I Love...
Oh well, it is as I assumed, just too feminised... Shame... think I am going to have to move on... :(
Hun you go with what you and DP want
It isnt an overly common name one way or the other. As a teacher I havent come across any Mackenzies boys or girls.
It is kind of like the name Ashley Could be girl or boy. If your son feels its not masculine enough then he can call himself Macca (which lets face it in high school thats what kids do- shorten names.
If you really love it and your DH does too then you name your little boy Mackenzie. :)
Girl here! First I heard of it being used as a first name was when my sister used for her daughter, who is now 9.
Definately a girl, I hadn't even thought it could go for a boy but guess from other posts it can.
i say girl, DP says boy.
sorry to fence sit but I have heard of both LOL!!
boy for mine
