OK, I have a boring packet of sausages in the freezer and I am all out of inspiration. Does anyone have any tasty ideas for things I can make out of my boring sausages and the regular groceries in the fridge and pantry?

You could do Curried sausages, or sausages with onion gravy/bacon gravy/tomato and onion gravy? Or you could squeeze all the meat out, mince it together again, make patties and roll in crumbs for crumbed rissoles?
I was going to suggest curried sausages too.
sausage casserole.
curried sausages suggest allready
I'm thinking about throwing some cooked sausages in my soup tonight, to make it a bit more hearty (and meaty). I also sometimes make a salad with it, some pasta, baby spinach, cooked sausage and other bits and pieces...maybe cheese and sweet chilli sauce and tomato and cooked garlicy mushrooms..
I remember mum used to boil the sausages and mix them with a jar of sweet and sour sauce and then serve it with pasta, I used to love that as a kid.
how do you make curried sausages???? my fdc lady used to make this when i was a kid and i LOVED it - would love to make for DS.
If you pr!ck them and put them in a baking dish with a bottle of red wine, garlic and some herbs leave them over night and then cook them as you would they come out BEAUTIFULLY serve them with a creamy mash and some onion gravy DELISH!
375 grams pasta - cook it
cook sausages
fry up some onion, capsicum, zuchini - all thinly sliced until tender. Chuck in mushies if you have them.
Throw in basil, and a jar of pasta sauce and heat it all through, simmer about 5 mins.
Mix pasta and the mix in a big bowl, add handful or two of grated cheese, put in a baking dish in moderate oven 25 mins. O and throw a handful of grated cheese over the top too.
Curried Sausages.
I brown sausages (chopped into small bits)
brown onion
oxo cube
add salt and pepper
curry powder (keens i like)
a cup or so of water depending on quantities
vegies what ever you want
simmer for 15 mins and then mix in some corn flour in small amount of water to thicken sauce, and a little bit of cream.
serve on rice or mash potato
I found that after my onions are cooked, if I add the curry powder then, and cook it, so to speak, its brings out the flavour of the c/s . I also use stock instead of water
Mmmmmm Rouge that sounds easy and yum!
Lulu, I love a sausage pasta bake but my MIL will be here tomorrow night and she doesn't  so that is why I am after some new inspirations.
Oh no I am going to be the odd one out here, but I don't really like curried sausages
I sometimes make this and all of the stuff should be in your pantry or fridge hopefully :
Easy sausage Pie
2 tsp oil
1 onion finely chopped or grated
6 thin sausages
1 carrot grated
2 zucchini grated
1 cup grated tasty cheese
1/2 cup plain flour
1 1/2 cups milk
3 eggs
Preheat over to 160 degrees, grease a 4cm deep 17.5cm x 24.5cm baking dish
Heat oil in a frypan over medium heat, add onion, cook stirring often until soft, remove to a bowl and add sausages. cook sausages
Once cooked - thinly slice the sausages.
Arrange sausages, onion, carrot zucchini and cheese over base of dish
Whisk flour and milk in a bowl until smooth, add eggs season with salt and pepper whisk to combine.
Pour over sausage mix, bake for 50-60 minutes or until set.
Hope this helps.
I often make a stroganoff with mine as they are cheaper & we always have them in the freezer. I just fry up the sausages ( or grill), then add in fresh mushrooms & cook with some bbq sauce, worcestershire sauce & mixed herbs for flavour. Then add a tin of tomoato soup, heat up & stir in as much sour cream as you like. We then serve it with some nice pasta....yum.
Otherwise sweet & sour sausages with creamy mash or steamed rice.
You can't go wrong with bangers and mash!
This is a favourite here:
Make a tomato sauce with one tin of chopped tomatoes, one crushed clove of garlic and some thyme. Mix in four pre-cooked sausages and some dry-fried courgette strips - just peel the courgette over and over again until you get to the seeds to get loads of thin strips.
I usually add some penne pasta to this, but it would work well on a bed of mash potato. It's really simple but very tasty. You can serve with additional veggies or salad.
yep i was going to suggest curried sausages too
Curried Sausages recipe - Best Recipes
i'd substitute apple and veggies for whatever veggies you have in the fridge - potato, mushrooms, broc, spinach, carrots...anything. always yummy the next day too.
TOss them through cous cous with baked pumkin & cherry tomatoes, green peas, onion and roasted garlic, olive oil and lemon juice and spinach. We usually do the pumlkin, garlic and toms together in the oven with a generous amount of olive oil in a pyrex oblong dish. As the toms collapse they release juice this mixes with the flavours from the other veg in the olive oil and is beautiful stirred though with the couscous.
Thanks for all the ideas ladies :D
I ended up making a sausage risotto with the left over vegies and a tin of tomatoes, it worked really well. I will be saving some of these ideas though - DH loves the sound of sausages soaked in wine :)
As a kid we often has sausages stuffed with creamed corn and served with mash and vege.
I often buy chicken, garlic snags and make these into wraps using Chappata wraps. Cook snags. Meanwhile, sautee some onions until soft. Put into warmed wraps with some baby spinach and tzaziki - yummo
Salad ... i made your YUMMY sausage pie tonight :D ... I put 1 x large zucchini and 1 x medium carrot, i didn't have salt but i don't think it needed it with the cheese in it as it tasted nice enough ;) ... I was wondering if the recipe you wrote is correct for example Should it have more flour as it took 1hour & 20mins in my oven at temp 170 and still wasn't quite set & my oven is usually a bit hot then the reg oven ... Wondering if maybe i should have paper towel soaked the juice out of the zucchini first ?? ... Would so like to know as i would love to make again
Thanks heaps Salad (and DP said " Thanks " too) :D
hey smiles no worries blokes do seem to love that recipe.
i just checked that I typed it correctly and it seems to be ok, I would agree with you and definantly squeeze out the excess juice in the zuchini I usually just put into colander or pasta/rice strainer and then press out the extra liquid if that makes sense.
At least that gives you another excuse to make another one.
I usually make a quick tomato chutney to go with it and its awesome if you want that recipe too let me know.
 Thanks a million Salad ... yeh, silly me thought of it after i threw in the zucchini  ... Will drain for sure next time ;)
YES please would love the Tom Chutney recipe, oh that would be brilliant ... and i reckon i might pop a couple of crisp lettuce leaves to the side next time too :D
Cheers & thanks again Salad xoxox
No worries at all I am glad you liked it.
Here is the recipe for the chutney:
Tomato Chutney
1 tsp brown mustard seeds
1 brown onion diced
4 tomatoes chopped
1 garlic glove crushed
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tblsp cider vinegar (i just use normal white vinegar because that is all I have and it still tastes great)
Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat, add mustard seeds, cook for 1 minute or untl seeds pop
Add onion cook stirring for 3 minutes or until soft
Add tomotaoes garlic sugar and vinegar, cook stirring until sugar has dissolved. Increase heat to high. Brng to the boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes or until mixture thckens- stirring occasionally.
It is really easy and yummy and I serve it with heaps of other dishes as it goes with anything sometimes I just make this and put it over just plain old sausages just to jazz then up a bit. Blokes love this one too. My DH takes leftover for his lunch at work and all the guys want to know what it is and want to taste it lol.
Sausage and White Bean Casserole
Cook your sausages, slice. Fry up a sliced onion, crushed garlic, sausages (mushrooms if you like) Add 1 x can of tomatoes and 1 x can of cannellini beans, and a bit of smoked paprika. Simmer for 10-15 minutes. Serve over brown rice.
This was far and away my favourite dish as a meat eater. And is very high fibre. (As is the rest of my life!)
Also, +1 to sausage in soup, esp minestrone or similar.
Mmmmmmm..... just tried the sausage pie recipe tonight, it went down a treat with DH, DD and FIL. Thanks :D
Edit - I used garlic and herb sausages - yummo!
Salad ... OMG, the sausage pie ' leftovers ' from last night was even yummier again (can't believe was even more delish ;)) !!
... Thanks for the Tom Chutney will try for sure next time, sounds really really nice
Smiles - I wouldnt know what leftovers tasted like lol DH eats it all.
Let me know when you try the chutney....
... Salad, i sure will :D
You have gotta make it one day to eat it the next (tell ya DH hands off ;)) I just heated in microwave on very low (was too eager to eat it to heat in the oven, LOL)
Thanks Lulu ... has some boring sausages staring at me tonight & i remembered this thread so i did your jar of pasta sauce + onion + capsicum + pasta + snags ... and presto was soooo YUM (and soooo easy) ... hadn't made this kind of dish in years :D
