LMAO @ Aidyn today, he sees his toy on the floor just out of reach, and he desperately wants to get it, and struggles, trying to push himself towards it, but he ends up going backwards a metre instead!! :lol:

Sorry to hear about Felix's weight loss Katanya... hope things will be on the improve soon, and the paediatrician is a big help.
The only other thing I can think of is for his solids to maybe try things that are high in natural fats (like avocado) or natural sugars?

We had a small prang in our car this afternoon. The car in front of us was merging onto a main road and took off but then slammed on the brakes and we went into the back!!!! Only scratches on the other car, but ours looks pretty bad. Thank CHRIST we were all completely ok, considering little Aidyn was in the back. He seems completely fine, didnt even get a shock like we did. I only just got rid of the edgy/shocked feeling a little while ago.

Yeah we can ramble in this thread too Ambah :) Urgh at the car accident glad to hear everyone is okay though and it didn't stress Aidyn out.

Nothing huge happening this end. I haven't even got Lachlan weighed in a while so dunno what is happening there either LMAO. As I said in another post he is still hating vegies just spits them straight out but is scoffing down anything with fruit in it and his weetbix. Goodbye to Farex forever ;) Been giving him 2 days of weetbix then a day of Petit Miam yoghurt cereal just to break it up a bit.

Ambah: you poor thing having a bungle, doesn't matter how small it is it would be scarey especially with a baby in the car> I have a had a few close calls and I always have awful visions of Felix flying through the air ..morbid I know..it just scares me! Glad you are both okay.

The idea about avocado is actually a great one as I was thinking of trying that next (we are doing pumpkin right now and while it's not being gobbled, but then he doesn't gobble anything yet, it's going in) at least I can relax about the avo being natural and it's got all those wonderful natural oils in them. I will try next..

Ok, I'm gonna try and remember everything I have to post here b/c I'm still replying to the Nov threads...

Thanks for the support Ambah. And you know, I don't mind if you use Adara's name if you have a girl next time! I love it too (obviously) and there's only been 9 in Victoria ever so we could have a few more around the place! Has the teething eased up for him at all? We had a few of those nights too as she was teething since she was 3mths old. Poor little bubbas :( How scary the accident must have been, I have been terrified of having an accident with her in the car since I had her... Like you Katanya, I've been imagining all these terrible things that could happen. You just never know when someone could do something stupid. Glad Aidyn wasn't upset by it.

Wow I can't believe you're going through the same thing with Felix, Katanya. It's pretty scary to see them going the wrong way on the scales. With Adara, it's b/c my milk supply dropped by so much not long after I concieved. She was feeding every hour for a while there and waking up all through the night for feeds. Before I knew that she was losing weight I assumed that she was just going through a growth spurt but then later I noticed she was dehydrated and not her usual happy self as much. She didn't take to solids at all until she was literally starving and then started to gobble them up out of hunger (like Felix she's a booby only baby and won't even have EBM either!). IKWYM about them only telling you to put on formula if you have any probs though, I've heard that from a few ppl recently too. But even my very pro-BF MCHN wanted me to add it to all her food and give her 1 bottle a day just to get her through until my milk supply evens out, hopefully after the 1st trimester. I'm with you, I want to keep BF as long as it's the best thing for her. Looks like I don't really have a choice anyway though! How's Felix doing lately?

Things have started to look up for us now. I managed to sneak 60mls of formula into some sweet Italian baby biscuits for her breakfast and since she started that and is having 3 good meals a day she's been a lot happier and only waking up once during the night for a feed! \:D/ I had an appt yesterday to have her weighed and thankfully she'd put in 10grams :smt041 I'm thrilled! Nappies still aren't as wet as they should be but I'm hoping that will improve as my milk starts to come back. Got another appt in 2wks and I'm sure she'll be doing even better by then.

More good news - her 1st bottom tooth appeared on Friday, surprisingly easily. And I had my 1st u/s yesterday, saw the baby kicking away! Good to know there really is something going on in there! Heart rate suggested I'm having another girl which surprised me b/c I was sure this one was a boy. I prepared DH for it b/c this was his last chance to have a DS after 2 DDs, I can understand why he'd be a little upset by it. I'd like to have one of each but I'm just as thrilled to have to little DDs running around, esp as they'll be so close in age. We won't know for sure for a while yet though.

Sorry it's such a long post! I'll have to try to come back here more often!

Christy and Matilda came to visit us in our new house today. It was a nice relaxing day, and the babies had a great playtime for hours. It looked like they were teaching/encouraging eachother to crawl and do other outrageous new things! LOL
Aidyn was sitting so well today, with a straight back, and he had periods of up to 20mins without toppling once! He also made it onto his hands and knees quite a few times, yelling with frustration - he obviously knows what he wants to do!! Looks like he will be crawling very soon... time to make sure the place is babyproof!! Maybe I should ask for some security gates and cupboard locks etc for Chrissy too...

Just killing time now waiting for the dishwasher to finish so I can sterilise & make up tomorrow mornings bottle. I'm dead tired & would love to go to bed, but theres nothing worse in the morning than stumbling and fumbling around with nothing prepared!!(been there done that!)

Well Mel, it does sound like Felix's and Adara's issue are slightly different and I think what you are doing is right by her. I have agonised long and hard about this issue and because we have very wet nappies, very active boy and generally content and happy, sleeping pretty well etc..I am not going to worry..I didn't weigh him this week as I didn't see the point but next week we will and take it from there. I think half my agonising is that I feel that my previously chubby bub is skinny with toothpicks for legs, and I would love him to have a more rounded baby look, but the reality is this is probably just him! Long and lean!

He actually half chewed on some avocado today and swallowed it..very exciting..he eats banana and rice cereal in the morning and avocado in arvo

It is great news about Adara's tooth and not getting any symptoms...that is WONDERFUL!!

Sounds like you will be heading towards that Ambah..I visited a friend who's baby crawled at around 6 mths and she was encouraging him to crawl, and I said..no thank-you he can do it in his own time!

Well guess who is 8mths old today and to celebrate decided he would commando crawl. I put him on the floor this morning and he commando crawled to his nearest toy. So to make sure it wasn't just a freak of nature i took the toy off him and put it further away sure enough he commando crawled to it again. Looks like my baby is now on the move. NOOOOOO

All is well at my end. We had our QLD BB BBQ today, however as it was pouring with rain we arranged to have it at my place instead. LOL I didnt meet anyone new though... have already known Bec & Jules for years, and Christy for a while too of course! Luckily my house was still relatively clean, otherwise I probably would have been too embarrased to offer!!
I think (hope!) everyone had a good time!! :)

Glad your christmas party went well Ambah, I unfortunately had to work and the little girl I look after isn't that great at party's for very long..but perhaps one day I can come up meet you guys for a pram push!

Yeah the avos are going in well, but they make his poo stinky..sigh it's goodbye to those more pleasent BF'd poos that smell sweeter..not sure how much weight it will put on but he's happy and VERY bouncy so that's is important.

Felix is managing to sit up quite well too, I have been surrounding him with pillows everywhere, as before I didn't do it and he had a few crashes which really hurt him...poor little guy..

it has been so raining this weekend..it's great for the dam and the trees but not for drying my cloth nappies! as long as I get some space in between!

Urrgh... today is not going to be a good day...

Woke up with the feeling of razor blades in my throat (DP said I sound all husky like a tranny, LMFAO) and I'm really, really tired.
So I try to nap with Aidyn this morning, only the bloody cat wakes me up THREE times to be let out, then back in, then he breaks something in the kitchen, so I lost my nap :(
Aidyn is pretty cranky too, so maybe he has what I have??
Plus a couple of other drama's which I wont bother going in to...
Oh yeah, plus I just went outside and walkes straight into a spiders web!! *shudders*

Ambah: I hope you feel better soon, nothing worse than being sick and having to sleep when you can with your baby and then not being able to!

We are having a lazy day today too, must be the rainy weather..my nappies aren't drying..lucky I have so many I can wait..but still my favourite fitted ones are out there!

Well Kameron needed me for something this afternoon and I left Lachlan who was at my feet. By time I got back (couple of mins) he was behind the lounge suite playing with the bar stool that i had put there. So definitely on the go !!! HEAVEN HELP ME.

Felix gets cranky now if he's left on his back he like me to set him up amoungst his pillows so he can play with things and see everything..he's a real sticky beak just like me Lachie says..

He actually OPENED his mouth for avocado this afternoon..it is a real step forward as we've been doing this solids thing for 3 weeks now and he's juts getting the idea to chew, not choke..he also drank heaps (well a few mouthfuls of water) I have every kind of cup and what does he do..drinks it straight from the cup without spout thingies...of course this is what you get from a baby that hates bottles..I just hope my next baby like them as I have so many unused bottles, sipper cups, cups with handles etc..*sigh* so much money wasted..

one little step forward (or crawl for some :) ) each day huh?

Thats great that Felix is taking to the solids now Katanya!! and LOL about the drinking cup!! Luckily Aidyn will drink water from a bottle, but he always gets ferociously excited whenever we drink something in front of him, so he would probably enjoy drinking from a cup more (just like mummy & daddy!) but I wont let him for now - its just too messy!! ;)

We got Aidyns 6 month injections done today (a month later, cause his last ones were done at 5, instead of 4 months) and he was SUCH a BRAVE BOY!!! He only let out a little yell when the needle went in, and that was it!! No crying or screaming, and I've just popped him straight into bed, so hopefully he will be asleep soon :)

Other than that his teethies are still giving him a fair bit of grief...
Plus he has taken to screeching as loudly and high pitched as he can, just for fun it looks like too!! #-o

Ok... I take it all back... he has been screaming for the last 40 mins at least... :(

Ok, well a huge blob of bonejela just did the trick!! (3rd time in an hour... oops!! 8-[ )

Poor Aidyn! Hope he feels better, maybe it's the combo of the teething and injections!

It's funny Ambah, Felix loves our water glasses too, but I like my water really cold and he doesn't! I give him the boiled water in an avent bottle with handles and no lid, he really like the "control factor!"

I have to go and weigh him today..d-day as if he still hasn't gained (or lost egad!) it will be time to visit the paedrictian..I just want a BFing friendly one as the last thing I want is to be told to suppliment him as I really don't think it's my milk supply anyhow..hopefully he's put on heaps and it wont be an issue!

well i am back..it's only 5 mins down the road and we had mixed news..

he has put on 80 grams in 2 weeks which is okay for a baby his age, but the clinic nurse was a little concerned about the fact his ribs are sticking out...
he weighs 7.26 kilos now and it puts him in the bottom percentile for his age for boys..she refered us to the paedrictrician as he is showing all the right signs of being content, getting enough etc..but doesn't seem to be gaining weight! i said i was happy to see a paedrictrician as long as he was breastfeeding friendly and would check for other things..I am not stressed, because at the end of the day it could just be his metobolism but i think it's time to check just to make sure something else isn't causing his food not to absorb.

the thing is i may have to accept if Felix has a small formula suppliment it isn't going to take away from his BFing, he'll still have all the benifits as well...just getting him to drink the stuff will be the tricky bit! anyhow that would be the least of my worries!

Well Aidyn woke up with a fever this morning, but I was expecting it anyway as it happened the last 2 times as well. He has had panadol twice and his temp seems to be staying cool for now.
He is not the only grizzly one today, I woke up with a bad cold/mild flu, but had been feeling it come on for days. Codral has made me feel much better, but I just dont have much energy to play with Aidyn, especially on days like today where he is being difficult and cranky.. #-o
DP will be home in an hour to help out though, yippee!!

Hopefully the paed will be able to give you some answers as well. Even if you do have to supplement with formula you are right that he will not be losing any of the benefits of the BM though, he will just be having the best of both worlds!

Poor little Aidyn and poor you Ambah, it ceratinly isn't what you want to deal with when you are sick yourself..I hope you both ahve a speedy recovery..Felix seems to ahve caught a cold too..only a runny nose at this point though..hope it doesn't get any worse.

I was just re-reading what I wrote before, I hope those of you who use formula or have had to suppliment in the past don't misread my reluctance to give it to Felix as a judgement on the issue in general. It's just that Felix and I have always had such a fantastic BFing relationship (and still do) and I would be devasted to feel that was threatened now when he is nearly 7 mths old. Of course I am being a bit ridculous and militant about it refusing formula suppliments as a option, when Felix's health could be risked.
The other reason I am so reluctant is I still feel my milk supply is strong, and he seems so satisfied by it, and has heaps of wet nappies etc that it confuses me that he's not gaining enough, and his ribs are sticking out and it makes me wonder if this is not masking a larger issue..yes the visit to the paedrictian will be good even it is just to reassure me that Felix is fine and that he is just a skinny bum! Sorry to rant but it's one of those issues I have to be clear in my mind how I feel about it..

Kameron was always very skinny when he was breast fed Katanya. I did introduce a couple of tablespoons of farex at 4mths but would mix it with breast milk as well. We went fully onto formula at 6mths though and he stacked on the weight. I hope you find out some more info with the Paed.

Sorry I don't have much time to come here much anymore, I'm busy packing for the move and Xmas shopping still in any 'spare time' I have.

Well done to Lachlan, Kathryn! How exciting! Isn't it funny how sometimes all of a sudden they realise they can do so many new things? Although you have to baby proof and watch them, I think they're a lot easier once they're mobile b/c they don't get so frustrated or bored.

Katanya, that's so funny about Felix only drinking from a cup b/c Adara's exactly the same! Tried so many ways to get her to drink water and the only way she will is chilled and in a 'big girl' cup. Hope you can get some answers at the paed. When were you able to get an appt?

Give poor little Aidyn *HUGS* for me, Ambah! You really gotta feel bad for them in so much pain! Hope you're feeling better soon too.

Adara's been waking up around 3 times a night again lately but she was pretty sick for a while. She's getting better now so I'm hoping the nights will too soon! What a rocky road it's been lately! When will I have my happy little good sleeper back?!

I found a way to give Adara some formula! After waking up every 30-60mins with her the other night, I was steaming some apples and pears for her breakfast when I thought about making a bottle with the steaming water as it tastes like the fruit. And it worked! That day she had 50mls and yesterday she had 100mls YAY! I'd be happy if I could give her 1 or 2 bottles a day as well as BF untill my milk works itself out again.

Other than that, her tooth has really been freaking me out as she dives in for my BB to feed! LMAO. She's never bitten me since her tooth came but she's just so enthusiastic about BFing it's kinda scary now!
