tell me about your 3.5yr old

just wondering if you can tell me about your 3.5yr old!!

DD(3.4yrs) has turned from a very placid child to ..... ummm well a diffeclt one lol!
not i know its to be expected and tbh compared to others is probably still quiet easy. there are a few things i was wondering if they were completely normal behaviour. mostly shes great! awesome little girl with a great imagination

she has quiet an imagination, lots of imaginary friends (usually from ABCkids shows) currently its nottop from wavaloo, to the point that they sleep next to her, she takes them to the toilet, wipes bottom and all- i dont have an issue with this, but wonderto what point am i encouraging her too much with it (we just go along with it etc..)

she sings to tv ads, knows most of the words- so do i have a singer on my hands or is it normal??

she has regressed in things such as chewing on toys because DD2 (1yr) does it and its driving me bonkers, and im not sure how to stop it, apart from obviously telling her tp stop.

she plays up for her dad something shocking, after bath is bad, shes rude, cheeky, silly etc. DH finds it very frustrating as do i, i now deal with her after bath as she doenst do it to me, what can he do to change it, he talks ot her about her day etc.. but she just goes silly.

then theres the 'i want' grrrrr all i hear is 'i want' i make her ask properly but it can turn in to a tantrum.

now i know this is probably allll petty stuff but im just curious!

oh and she goes to kinder 2x2 hour sessions, shes very social and talkative!

she sounds like Darcy's twin!
We have imaginary friends - usually pets (which is odd seeing as she has a pathological fear of all living creatures), lots of singing to the oddest things, very demanding of my time, but when her father is around she's a phsychopath! Always in your face, talking loudly, needing you to do something....argh!
And since Nate started eating...all of a sudden she's forgotten how to feed herself.

lol dont even get me started on the "i wants" and the "get me's"!!!
DD1 (3.7) has never been a placid kid, always very loud and in your face but it just seems to be getting worse and worse.
omg when we tell her no, she turns around and shouts "charlotte says yes!" she's such a turd!
Her and DF have a love/ hate relationship, literally one minute they love each other, the next they hate each other.
She's also very anal, things need to be done exactly the same every time, which drives me absolutely batty!

oh wow, makes me feel so much better....I think that so many times a day.

DS is almost 3 and a lot of things are similar. He doesn't have imaginary friends but is very strong willed and him and DH fight all of the time. Everything has to be done by mummy. We share the care duties so it is pretty frustrating for me to be working from home to hear him screaming 'no - mummy!'. He can also be very rude but mostly to people other than me. We live with my parents and he will actually grunt at them! Argh! I keep telling myself if we are calm and nice it will eventually rub off on him.

Nina has an imaginary friend named Peta. Peta is always with her and is her best friend apparently.
Nina is ALWAYS singing. She picks up words from songs really easily. They encourage singing at her dancing class as well, so yay for us, we get to hear it 24/7.
She's just started telling fibs, like, 'I didn't do it, Emily did it' :rolleyes: Even though we saw her do it. She knows what she's doing, and is trying to test us. Lets just say until 2 months ago, she had never been sent to her room for being naughty. Now it's almost a daily occurence!!!
I think it might be the age for it, as my friends DD who is the same age is going through it as well.

Mmm hmmm. My 3.5 year old is HIGH maintenance at the moment. :lol: I should go and play with him now actually, he's beating up his brother with a balloon. Can't wait to deal with aftermath when it pops in their faces...:rolleyes:

Thank goodness I'm not the only with the fibs! It really is driving us insane.

Olive: my 3.5yo DS sounds very similar to yours! Yes, after bath time is baaaad. Worst time of the day. The best thing though is that DS started kinder creche (locally known as "co-op") four full days a week. He is a different child there! And he loves it! At the end of each day at around 5.45pm when i go to collect him I stand back out of his view and observe. He is generally the quieter child following instructions while other kids are being noisey and silly! :dance: I am so relieved that he is actually capable of modifying his behaviour! I suspect that at home my DS has found his niche as the loud joker. As you know his older brother is quiet, shy sensitive type and my DD is probably too old for him to compare himself to. I have heard that kids in larger families find their own niche and this can reinforce certain behaviours. Maybe at co-op my DS is surrounded by lots of loud ones and he has found that he gets more attention if he is quiet? :think: I'm not saying one set of behaviours is necessarily better than the other... I'm just glad to see that my 3.5yo can adapt... I was thinking he was going to grow up being loud and silly everyhwere he goes!

Julia is 3 1/2. Her favorite things to do are craft and drawing at the moment. She loves to sing and dance too would do it all day if she could! She makes up songs LOL and dance competitions. She doesnt have imaginary friends, but play imaginery games with her toys and Tara (1 1/2).

She is always so picky with food, and always says no I want something else. She stands up for herself when there is something she doesnt like. Havent got any fibs yet.

She is very social and loves making friends everytime we are at the park and plays well with the kids we know. She went to daycare when she was 9 months to age 2 but wont go now til kinder.

Phew - so it is not just us! Miss almost 4 has become very stubborn and determined recently. She is constantly making 'I want....' and 'I need...' statements in a high and whiny voice. She is also a master negotiator, trying to discuss directions/instructions that she is not so keen on. Anyone else have separation anxiety issues??? We're all ok as long as I am around, makes kinder and work a wee bit awkward tho.
On the plus side she is really fun, loves dancing, singing and very caring towards other kids (except her sister that is). She has a wicked sense of humour and is very imaginitive too - we have lots of friends, Itty, Bitty, Curler are the current faves. She is great with arty stuff too.
I only hope she hangs onto that stubborn sense of self in her teens so she has self confidence and can keep out of trouble.

Oh thank god its not just me :lol:

Jack has gone from being a lovley child who I enjoyed spending time with to a right royal devil incarnate, and I have turned from a loving mum to a screaming banchee int he last few months (yes I have a new baby so I knew it would happen)

but I am trying to stay calm as I have realised my screaming has got out of control of late...so we implemented the naughty chair the last 2 days and OMG its working well so far, I almost had my lovely I want to spend time with him Jack back :)

we also have the fibs, things like close the fridge I did when he is standing there with it wide open :lol:

anyway good to know I am not alone

Olive she sounds perfectly normal and the change in her behavior sounds like tiredness to me. My 3.5yr old gets silly, grumpy and more demanding when she gets tired...usually in the evenings.

When she starts getting like that i generally tell her she is getting tired and she agrees with me....this makes it easy to put her to bed :p

Umm Olive, is your daughter my daughter? LOL

What you have described, is EXACTLY what my daughter is like. She is 3y4m (born Oct 26, 2006).... So I am hoping it's normal ;)

Gaby is all "I want I want I want", ESPECIALLY when we're at my parents house, because she knows that Poppa is weak when it comes to her, and always gives in.. lol (this usually ends with Gaby getting told off, and Poppa getting told off)..

She has an amazing imagination, is always on the phone to various people, is always going to the supermarket, or the petrol station, or the beach, or the 'baby doctor' (midwife)... and often SHE is my doctor, and gives me a thorough examination, complete with listening to the babies h/b & giving me an u/s.. LOL. Her teachers at preschool always have stories to tell, about her imaginary play experiences... she has a best friend at preschool - Lily, and they are always off on these crazy adventures.. I was lucky enough to see some photos one of the teachers took, right the way through one of these imaginary play experiences. very cool.

Gaby can sing along to all the ads on TV - and she is a huge fan of Taylor Swift, and knows a lot of her songs, just as well as I do (it's so cute).. she also sings along to songs on TV - esp Dora the Explorer songs, or songs on Winnie the Pooh... she just has to see something 2 or 3 times & it is embedded in her memory!

She is talking from the moment she wakes up, to the moment she goes to sleep - sometimes I wish she had an 'off' button :shakehead:, but at the same time it is so cute, and I am so proud of how well her language development is coming along!

She is getting VERY head strong... and NO is another favourite word. A headstrong 3yo & a tired, pregnant mama aren't really a good combination, as far as a peaceful household goes.. lol

Ash can be quite stubborn now. Really stubborn.
We used to have huge play ups after bath and with bed, she would get so silly but has settled now.
She often likes to pretend she is a baby to copy Emily so sucks on toys, crawls around.
Makes up pretend people and pretend words.
I hate the "I want" too or :mummy get me my water." hmmm no how about we ask nicely then she clamps her mouth shut and sits grumpily.
