Continuing on from HERE.
I am kind of a lurker in this thread, but have been here since the start. I haven't had any big losses, but have just been achieving slowly and steadily. More of my clothes are now fitting me again, and through walking with ZF i am feeling more healthy. Well, I now have a new number at the start of my weight! Yay!
Well done HotI!
Coming back later for more personals :)
I only just joined here this morning and I already stuffed up :-( - DD is home sick and I ended up getting macca's on the way home. It really wasn't worth it at all - pushed me well and truly over my calories for the day - so tempted to throw the rest of the day away on junk but am going to stay strong.
Heres hoping tomorrow is a better day!
Good on you Ash! That's where i tend to trip over, so reading that was very inspirational!
Well I was feeling good this morning & have eaten well - but haven't had time to track calories in CK as I had hoped... but I'm so ****ed off. My hip/sacroiliac joint is playing up. I had SPD/pelvic instability during my PG last year (finished up on crutches) and recovered really well after birth.... until this year when I stupidly tried to move something heavy and set it off. And it doesn't seem to want to settle down ever since... i've stopped trying to go jogging, I tried a exercise bike session (30 mins) last week and that was too much. So was settling for 2 x 15 min walks per day... but only managed 15 mins walk today and the hip is just not right. Grrrrrrrr. So now i just have to eat like a saint and go back to the osteo again. And I'm really more of a "eat the chocolate & run 8km" kinda person  (apart from the fact I'm not remotely fit enough to run 8km anymore). So anyway... gotta keep focussed on my food. Am doing my groceries online tonight cos I was too sore to hobble round coles - better get to it.
Btw, what do ppl do for snacks? that's where I struggle.
HotI hun your doing a wonderful job, our walks are getting quicker and i enjoy your company sooo much.. you on for Wed before library?
Will try and catch up on personals soon, am uploading pics from the weekend to FB and trying to do a few other things at the same time.
How is everyone going motivation wise? I am LOVING walking with HotI and we aim to get quicker and quicker, she's looking FABULOUS by the way :)
I'm ok here, would like to fit in a bit more if i could, like the bike on the days i'm not walking but with DP on crutches i'm just finding it hard to get a routine and stick with it, he asks me to do things and i loose track of time and i soooo wish he was back at work :p
BUT on the plus as a bit of a joke i got on the scales tonight (after dinner and crap food and softrdrink while damping) and am down around 93.5  I was so so excited.
Only 13 more kg to go to get to my goal.
I also wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone for sticking it out with this thread, for being so supportive of each other, when i started it months ago i never thought we would still be going this long.
So a massive :grouphug: to you all.. keep up the great work ladies i am so so proud of you all :)
Hooray for a new thread!! How exciting :)
ZF- that is great news to hear! You are still doing really really well! I know if i was home with DF i would have put on as much weight as you have gained, it is so incredibly hard! Keep it up, i am so pleased you started this thread, i have joined so many others like it and never gotten anywhere and have dropped out silently, but not this one ;)
Belfie- ouch hun! Wow, that sounds like an injury and a half! I hope you get it sorted soon! For snacks, i am into almonds at the moment, the fat free, low sugar yoghurts or a diet coke/coffee. I'd like to think i was the eat the chocolate and run 8ks type, but i am actually just the 'eat the chocolate' type! LOL...
Welcome Ash! Its fantastic that you decided to join us! The more the merrier :) I love your attitude, about no giving in and having a better day tomorrow! Please don't feel like you have stuffed up! It takes a long time to change the eating habits you have had your whole life. Next time you go to stop at maccas think of us here and how good its going to feel to be able to tell us you thought about it but kept on going, or if you do decide to stop, try and just order one thing instead of a whole meal. This was my strategy, i had a BAD macca's problem! I would seriously go to the gym for an hour and half, and then stop at maccas on the way home! It was that bad...Its a really hard habit to break!
HotI, that is so awesome that about your progress. Slow and steady wins the race hey? I keep telling myself that, i think so long as its persistent small losses i am more likely to keep it off :)
AFM- still sick :( Had an annoying day at work, but managed to eat reasonably well. 2 pieces of DF's home made bread for breaky with vegemite, a nectarine for morning tea, a cream of broccoli soup with a small dinner role for lunch and then bowl of DF's homemade teriyaki chicken for dinner. I haven't logged it, but i am guessing between 1000-1200 calories? Oh yeah, plus another slice of bread when DF's next loaf came out of the oven! Too hard to resist! I was desperate for some sugar before bed, as i had gotten into the habit of eating some easter chocolate, but i made a vow not to eat it any more and don't have any in the house. Last night i was so desperate for something sweet that i actually ate some of the chocolate sprinkles i had in the cupboard! How silly... It didn't help, in case you were planning on trying it :) LOL.
Did anyone see the commando's diet for the black team on the biggest loser? Have you thought about trying it? It was basically fruit + cottage cheese for breaky, half a yoghurt + 3 almonds for morning tea, a tuna salad with a small amount of cucumber and tomato with 6 cups (!) of lettuce and a 90g piece of chicken breast with beans and 4 (?) cups of bok choy. It sounds alright to me, i could come up with some similar variations and stick to the main idea. I don't think i want to go that extreme though, but i like how simple it is! My problem with other 'diets' is how complicated it all seems and how many different ingredients you need to get, so this kind of appeals to me.
blerk, the gym today was such a chore. I couldn't sleep last night and DS started the day at 5.30. He's such a morning bird.
I did 20 mins each on the rower, treadmill and crosstrainer. I got sweaty but I didn't work as hard as I should. What do you do to pick yourself up and make yourself work when your heart's not in it?
Also, work-out music? What are you all listening to at the moment? I feel like I need to re-vamp my workout playlist.
ETA - the shin thing on the treadmill. I know we're all different so it may not work for other people but I find that if my shins are hurting a quick fix is to use the incline. Just 0.5% or 1% seems to take the pressure off my shins without making running a great deal harder.
Good question. I used to find I sometimes just had "off" days where my get up & go had got up & gone. I used to just try to push through them and work at the level that my body seemed happy with. I reckon it can be either that you are just tired or haven't fueled up well enough prior to the workout.
Playlists... I love The Bongo Song by Safri Duo, We No Speak Americano (great beat) by Yolanda Be Cool, quite a few by Eminem including Lose Yourself (particularly if you want an angry work-out lol - good for simulated hill climbs, strong beat but working working!), plus there's a few by Pink - her latest is great (Raise your Glass) and finally a classic - Thunderstruck by AC/DC is aVERY good cycling track!
Well my hip seems to have settled down again thank goodness. Went to go for a 10 min walk last night and realised I'd forgotten I'd already done a 20 min walk earlier in the day down to the playground... yay! So that's a good sign as I'm really keen to do my 30 mins walking (gawd it sounds pathetic - but hey, baby steps!). I've been eating well even though a tiny part of my brain is freaking out thinking can I REALLY eat like this for 6 months? Oh my!
Appletree - hahaha re the eat the chocolate type! Thanks for the snack ideas. I cut up a heap of carrot & celery sticks & had it with a proper serving size of beetroot tzatziki dip, gosh it was small lol. You are doing so well at this, I was just admiring your ticker!
Onyx, if I'm not into it I try to do a class so I HAVE to work, if there isn't one on then I grab a magazine or book and stick to the treadmill for the full time at a walking pace on a very slight incline and I know I'm not pushing myself but if I stay on for 50 mins I burn at least 500 calls for what seems like very little effort. I think it's important to give yourself permission to have days where you dont push yourself, I know there have been some days where I have just been completely wreaked from ds being up the night before, or emotionally drained from fighting with df and I just can't give it 100%, but if I still made it to the gym I am happy enough. These are also typically my bad food days X)...
As for playlists, belfie I think we have similar tastes, except for eminem, I loathe him!! I have a 100% hits album that df got for me and I just stick it on shuffle, some if the music is ****e, but it mainly has a great beat to work to. Anything black eyed peas or rhianna usually gets me working a bit harder!
Afm- I am so stressed out by work I could barely sleep last night, even though I took a cold and flu night tablet which should have zonked me completely. Today is my Friday thank fully. Also, any tips on what I can do today? We are having a team lunch at yum cha to farewell someone going on mat leave, what should I eat? How can I politely decline the majority of things. I am so tempted to say bugger it and just eat what I want, but I also had a big lunch yesterday as a colleague wanted to show me a nice Japanese place nearby and they had no sushi left and I ended up having an absolutely delicious chilli beef don.
Belfie- thanks hun, I keep admiring my ticker too ;) I needed to redefine my goals before I could move forward so I made myself a new ticker so I could be reminded of where I am going and where I have come from. Your snacks sound yummy! I love beetroot dip, I haven't tried beetroot tatziki dip though!
92.3kg - got on the scales clothed and i'm down to 92.3
Am about to head off for my walk with HotI, see if we can't push ourselves :)
Will try and catch up on personals tonight, still unpacking and had a dental appt yesterday, seems everyone is doing really well :)
Gawd I"m such a dag, I forgot to subscribe to the new thread so I'm thinking all week that everybody is MIA!!! Der!
ONYX _ I have downloaded off Itunes an album called "Crave Volume 5". It's mixed by DJ Havana Brown (major girl crush happening here! bahah). I have seen her before as the warm up act at Britney & also either PussyCat Dolls or Beyonce (yes, I KNOW, you don't have to tell me, I'm a TOTAL groupie) & she is fantastic. She mixes great songs & she puts a really fantastic beat on it. Anyhoo, I downloaded her latest album & there are some really awesome beats in there that get me really going when I'm jogging or on the cross-trainer. I find that Black Eyed Peas has some good beats but also Glee Volume 4 has some great songs. I just downloaded their latest album but it's a lot slower. I can COMPLETELY sympathise with you about having zero motivation this week. I feel like I have pushed myself to the brink, but in actual fact, I haven't really upped anything. If anything, I have slacked off. Already I feel sick about my weigh day tomorrow because I know I haven't lost weight & it's making me really depressed. It's completely irrational, but i have had 2 weeks of big losses & I can feel in my body that this week the scales just won't be my friend. It's like I have become obsessed. This is the CLOSEST I have ever been to my goal weight & I can smell the finish line, but it's like it always going to remain out of reach? Does this make any sense? lol. But, I must admit, I got my mojo back after promising myself 1 piece of clothing each week if I have a loss. So maybe you need to give yourself a weekly reward?
ZF _ Wooooot wooooooooooooo Smoking hot mumma is in da house!!! Rock on my friend!! That is awesome. Your walks sound like a lot of fun too!!! I'm super impressed, especially after being camping! That is awesome.
APPLETREE _ Black Eyed Peas does it for me too!!! Also, Flo Rida really gets me working hard too. Eminem is sooooooooo damn hot! How can you not like him??? I'll happily keep him all to myself then. I love his song with Rihanna. I too am a fan of your new ticker.
BELFIE _ Wow, your hip sounds really painful! I really hope that it cuts you a break really soon. I also like carrot & celery sticks as a snack - but I like dipping them in salsa. You're LO has the most cutest chubby cheeks in your ticker pic! Bless!
HOTI _ Plugging away at weight loss slowly is the best way of ensuring that it stays off! So well done to you too!
ASH _ You know, changing your mindset of 'ok, I have buggered up one meal, lets just screw up the whole day' to 'ok, I have buggered up one meal, lets eat sensibly for the remainder' is such a milestone! It really is. I'm a huge Maccas fan myself  but now I have trained myself to NOT order the fries. I just get a drink and a burger & I'm satisfied. Just lately though, I have been grossed out by the entire lot. I don't know why. I took the kids there on Saturday & didn't touch a thing. Bizarre for me!
AFM _ Well I'm being Debbie Downer again. Apartment hunting has REALLY got the better of me. I am eating really well & still doing all my exercise but I'm just not feeling the love of it, you know? This week has definitely been a chore. Motivation is at zero & my feet are soooooooooo tired & achey. I have been promising myself a foot massage to loosen them up for weeks now. But between Chinese class 3 times per week, Zumba one day per week & then viewing apartments, it's leaving very little time for anything else. We are off to Seoul on Friday night for the magical visa stamp, so I'm really, really, really hoping that I leave some stress behind & just try to refocus. Even Alan has noticed that I'm not chirpy & he is never bl00dy home to notice! :pmsl:
Belfie - what have you tried to fix up you hip? I had the same thing (possibly) quite badly a few years back and it interfered with my running really badly - in the end I went to Bowen Therapy which is a natural therapy and after 10 sessions I was fixed - haven't noticed it again since and he told me I didn't have to go back again unless I needed to (which I really liked coz I hate feeling like they are trying to suck me in for the rest of my life!). My Nanna actually started seeing them afterwards for her arthritis and she swears by them too! Just thought I would mention it coz it was a lifesaver for me! I really hope that it starts easing off.
Go ZF go!!!
Jayne- you dork! I was wondering what happened to you! Hahaha... I can only imagine how ****ty apartment hunting must be, it was a complete nightmare for us recently and that was here! It must be a million times harder for you. Try and get a break when you can! I love your incentive scheme, it's fantastic! Not sure what I should reward myself with, I am trying to save money, for some reason now we have two incomes instead of one we have half as much money! Df being home all the time is turning out to be lethal, he is doing daily grocery shopping! Yikes...
I'm off to the gym in the morning, anyone want to throw me a challenge? I need to fit some weights in and should have an hour and a half total to work out. On sat I will rechallenge my 1k run time to see if I can beat my last time :)
I ended up just going with it at lunch time today, probably consumed over 1000 calories, but it was so worth it! I made up for it though as I had to work late (lunch took 2 hours out of my day so couldn't get everything done), didn't get home till after 9pm and just had a muesli bar on the train and then some yoghurt for dinner, so it's possible I was still under 1500 cals for the day. Holding no hope for a significant loss in the morning though as it was also pouring rain most of this week so didn't get my normal 3k walks each day either!
We are also going to be celebrating tomorrow as DD had her 4 year old hip check this week (she had hip dysplasia as a baby and was in plaster for ages, then a brace till she was one), and at her 3 yr old check they told us she would probably need surgery between 4 and 5 years old and to go back into plaster. Well, they were wrong! Her hips developed sufficiently on their own, and though they still aren't perfect, she doesn't need surgery!! Hooray!!! It's such a relief! Going to do something special to celebrate, but not sure what yet!
APPLETREE - What fantastic news about DD's hips! You must be so relieved. To celebrate I would do something physical that she needs to use her hips for - like a jungle gym, or ballet lessons even! Something to prove that her hips are fine just the way they are! Followed by icecream of course!!!! yay you for having a big lunch, but still keeping under your calorie count. Bugger bout the exercise though! I'm seeing some new apartments tomorrow - so wish me luck.
Off to bed for me. I was ready for sleep about 3pm today. hahaha
Appletree - that's wonderful news! So happy for you!
Ash - I tag-teamed a phsyio & osteo all of last year which seemed to work ok... buuuut I've never tried bowen therapy  what a great suggestion thank you. I will definitely give it a go, i've got nothing to lose (well ok just a bit of money & time) but hey if it fixes it... i'd be thrilled.
Jayne - thanks re my LO... she's a chubber alright - 97th percentile!!! I wonder if that's my diet making all that high-cal EBM lol! I like your status by the way, it always gives me a giggle. I should update mine to "hello fitness, can we be friends again?".
Well I managed 2 walks today... and the second one I felt so good I went a bit longer - 23 mins instead of 15. And now my left achilles is really sore :wall::wall::wall: for pete's sake I'm not even going that far or doing that much! Ah well, up & at 'em, tomorrow is another day. Ate... okish considering I had my goodbye lunch from work. I picked a salad but it wasn't all that healthy (yummy tho!). Am still finding myself getting caught by those pesky old habits...
It's funny I reckon when you really start trying to lose weight, I always feel so excited about my newfound steely resolve... but then I look in the mirror and realise the weight hasn't actually gone yet! Lol it's like I think it'll happen overnight - so silly really. Still I haven't fallen off the wagon yet despite my work redundancy being confirmed and DH getting sicker again. And on the bright side, his back is improving and he might actually be able to lift somethign or do something/anything vaguely useful again - I live in hope!
Appletree! WHOOT!!!!!!! DD went through the same thing, plaster and all, so I'm SO happy for you!!!! To get that wonderful news must be such a heavy weight lifted off your shoulders. Fantastic news!
Jayne - Hope a gorgeous apartment pops up for you soon.
Belfie - Well done on the walks, but sucks about your achhilles. Does this happen often, could it be your shoes?
ZF - Well done on the loss!
Hi to everyone else!
Not much to report from me Just walking each day, taking the dogs who are loving it! DD is starting to get a bit ansty in the pram, so I'm hoping it's a phase, because it's really my only form of trying to get fit right now and if she comes out of the pram, then we'll be reduced to a stroll. I took her and my niece to the park yesterday, maybe half a k from SIL's house and it took nearly 15 minutes! So I'll end up doing my normal 4 k walk in about, I don't know..........six hours?
HI Ladies,
Sorry for such a flying visit............ I'm starting to run late for Chinese Class. But I had to report that I have lost 1kg this week! I'm absolutely gobsmacked! Totally gobsmacked. But so, so, so, so happy as well!
I'll BBL for persies.
xx
Jayne!!!
1.7 to go! Well done!
woo hoo that's awesome!!! Congrats!!:clap: :leap::leap: (see that's the new slimmer fitter you running around there )
Jayne, that is incredible!!! Such brilliant news, you are so incredibly close now!
Some not so brilliant news from me today, I took my engagement ring off at the gym this morning whilst I was on the rower and put it on top of my towel, I obviously didn't pick it back up because now it's gone. No one has handed it in and it's nowhere around on the floor :( I am so ****ed off with myself for doing that!
OH MY GOD APPLETREE! I am having heart palpitations for you. I am sooooooooooo sorry this has happened. It's a horrible horrible horrible feeling knowing you have lost something so important. I lost Jessica's birth certificate at a swimming centre once, because I needed them to enrol her & I felt physcially sick! Thankfully they did turn up, after about a week, but they were a little water-damaged. At least I got them back I suppose. I really, really, really hope that somebody with half a heart has picked it up.
If not, is there any way you can claim it back on insurance or something?
Oh & have you told your man?? eeeek!!! **Scared face right here**
TO ALL THE GIRLS _ I'm sooooooooooo incredibly blessed to have all your support. Not just with the weight loss, but with the whole 'thing' just lately. I have really struggled in so many areas of my life the past month, but finally I see the cloud lifting. Today, we got an apartment! Thank the effing lord. Sorry  for the swearing. Yes, it's a mega-expensive one, but you know what? I am done with caring about it. I have looked at around 15 apartments & this is the only one that fitted OUR bill. I have had plenty of rows with Alan over the cost, but I just don't care now. Nothing like a bit of a shower 'show' & some activities on the bathroom vanity to make him see things from my perspective. :pmsl: Actions always speak louder than words with my man. So we negotiated hard & we have secured the apartment, now we are just trying to see if they will throw in gym memberships as well. Tomorrow night we are off to Seoul & I plan on just relaxing! Leaving all the negative thoughts behind & focussing on next week when we (hopefully), move into a new apartment!
xx
Appletree - I am sooo sorry that you lost it!! I hope it turns up somewhere unexpected - it's horrible to think someone might have found it and not handed it in!! Are you ok? I can't imagine what you mind is doing to you - but remember it isnt your fault, its just an accident
Jayne - Congratulations on the loss and on getting an apartment!! How exciting - I love that feeling that finally everything is coming together again - enjoy it!!
I have been on the verge of feeling like I am doing a good thing with my eating all week but I havent actually had a perfect day yet - sigh! I am finding it harder than I thought to give up my glass of wine on the couch with DP after DD has gone to bed - I have realised this week how much I need that 20 minutes to unwind and it just isnt the same without a glass of wine in my hand lol. I am not even going to bother weighing myself this weekend - I know I havent lost anything and I dont want to get down on myself. Instead I am going to give myself a good talking to and get myself on the wagon properly for next week - not just half on letting my feet drag lol
Do you all have plans to follow in your weight loss? Food and exercise wise? I have been trying to calorie count but keep finding that I forget to enter things and then dont remember to later - when I was entering everything though it kept telling me I wasnt having enough calories - which just confuses me
I find it very hard to exercise at the moment with DD at school and me at uni full time - I might make a deal to pop DDs bike in the back of the car next week and take her to the park a few afternoons and have a run around with her ;)
Thanks guys, I am still optimistic that it will turn up, I will have a good look tomorrow too!
That is great news on the apartment Jayne! Is it the one in the ex-pat building? Hope you get your gym membership! How fantastic about getting to go to Seoul! You are so lucky! Hope it is amazing, I would love to travel more, but we just haven't been able to manage it while the kids are little.
PRMG, that sucks that you have been down the plaster route too, isn't it just awful?? Has your DD been given the all clear yet?
Ash- I would just have the glass of wine to be honest!! You need to wind down, build the wine into your daily calories, it's worth it ;) I don't have a plan as such, I just try to get myself into more of a routine which includes daily excercising of some sort, and regular foods that I know are going to keep me under my cals. For example, days when I work I more often than not get a 1.5k walk each way to the station which is around 300 cals burned, then for food I will stick to toast/cereal for breakfast, lunch I buy a salad, sushi, wrap or soup, usually have a few coffees/diet cokes through the day and then I know I don't have to worry too much about what's for dinner as I usually have around 600 calories left. On the days where I don't work I try to do a 1 1/2 hour gym session and burn between 500-800calories. I stick to the same breakfasts, intend to have a light lunch (this is where it all goes wrong when df is around!) and then whatever the family is having for dinner. Still trying to work this part out though!
Having a quick side vent sorry, but work is just making me feel sick to my stomach every time I think about it. I don't know what to do, I dread going there and am so stressed out. My stomach has this great big hard lump in it :( I used to really enjoy what I do, and I was looking forward to going back, but it is not at all what I was expecting. I am thinking of maybe taking a natural supplement for anxiety and seeing if it helps at all. Df is complaining that I am angry all the time, and I've only just started back, it's going to be a million times worse when I am full time!
Oh no Appletree!! That's dreadful. DH left his wedding band at the gym once but it was handed in. He left a nice watch too and that was never handed in :(
Can you put a notice up? Maybe if someone picked it up they will hand it in if they realise how special it is. Maybe ask the cleaner to check the dust-bag of their vacuum if it was near the time they come.
Can you look for a new job or is there not much work in your field.
Jayne, WTG!! You're so close. Congratulations on finding a new apartment. I hope they include the gym. I hope you enjoy Seoul.
Ash, you don't have to give up your wine, just find a way to include it in your diet. I don't really have a plan. I try to get to the gym 5 days a week and work out for at least an hour and I try to avoid junk food most days. Sometimes I think I should be counting calories but that seldom lasts. I'm not good at maths.
belfie, I hope your achilles stops bothering you. I'm the same with wanting quick results too. I'm often surprised when I look in the mirror and realise that I don't look as good IRL as I do in my imagination. I should just avoid the mirror more lol.
PRMG, well done on coordinating the dog and the pram. My dog is small but when I tried to take my Dad's medium dog for a walk with a pram once it almost turned into a disaster.
Thanks ladies, it sounds horrible getting support to have a glass of wine lol- I was thinking last night maybe I should make it my reward for a good food day? And only have it if I have enough calories left for the day. I'm hoping to get some exercise done today - maybe try the couch25k again - I completed it about 6 months ago and was so proud of myself!!! Lol
Appletree - it sounds like it's time you start looking around at what other work is available  is it working in general or your specific job? There is nothing worse than that anxious, dreading feeling - I think supplements would be a good idea but not if you can't change your situation. Could you start them and look for something else?
appletree - I'm so sorry about your engagement ring! I hope it does turn up soon. Can you put a sign up at the gym, maybe someone will hand it in? I hope work settles for you too. It's horrible when you don't enjoy going to work, especially when we can spend so much of our time there. DD's hips are stable and fine, we got the all clear in May last year, but she has to have check-ups either annually or bi-annually. Her first check-up is this May so we'll know for sure just how she's progressing. The plaster is awful, I don't think I'll ever forget the smell.
Jayne - So glad you found a new apartment! Now think of the workout you're going to get, lifting all those boxes! And to possibly have a gym membership as well! Is that common practice in China when you rent an apartment?
Ash - It's really hard to get a "perfect" eating day, I think. For me, I really try to limit what I buy. I never have cash on me during the week, so even if I go out, I can't buy things. If it's not in the house, I can't eat it. I was calorie counting, found th best way to do it was whenever I sat down to eat something, I'd turn on the laptop then and there to enter it in. Good luck hun.
Onyx - It's taken two years to get my dogs sorted with the pram! Our c o cker spaniel walks beautifully, never an issue, but our beagle, well she is a beagle after all. We've been through about four collars (she pulls backwards and slips out of them) and two harnesses (same thing, worked out how to pull her leg through and slips out), but our latest harness it wonderful. If she pulls, it makes her sit down. So I go now with a bag of treats and we do our 4k walk. I think they probably know that if they don't behave, then its a long time between walks!
AFM - I've had an ordinary couple of days. Didn't get a walk in Wednesday, and then yesterday was on and off heavy rain, so I didn't risk it. Going to try and get one in today, but might be pushing time. But have to go grocery shopping, so pushing the trolley is a small bonus, I guess. My DD is 2 on Sunday, can't believe it, and I'm making cakes galore! I just have to keep chanting to myself "don't give in to temptation....."
Just a quick one. Decided to join in. I lost some weight last year doing the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet online trial. It has started to creep back on though. Will be following it again, I find lowering carb and increasing protein works very well with me. Just need to get my daily portion sheet printed out. I found tracking what I was eating helped a lot, it is funny many days I would look at it and still realised I had some food portions left! I think I swing between over eating somedays and then under eating others. Our budget is tighter these days, so that will make it interesting as carbs are cheap and boy do the kids love them.
Have about 20kg to lose. Should weigh myself today, but I am a bit frightened. Think I am having a fatty week. Some weeks I think I look great and others, well, I think I look horrid.
Welcome Astrid :D there is nothing worse than a fatty week! Great work losing weight before - what is the main gist if the CSIRO diet? I should really look around and chose something to follow because I always feel so much more in control if I have a plan - at the moment my plan is to use common sense  which is failing me far too often. I have about the same amount to lose so it be great to have you here!
Thanks for the tips pakrak! I like the idea of not having cash on me - when I lost weight after having DD I had got myself so in the habit of just eating at home and I think that really helped a lot.
I had a reasonably good day today - until DP arrived home with kfc  my first reaction was that I would let them eat their junk and make myself a sandwich (because the roast beef and salad sandwich I had for lunch was Devine!) but then I gave in *sigh*.
I am keen to do a Juice detox this weekend - I brought a book on it and I really want to try it. Has anyone in here done anything like that before?
I hope everyone has an awesome weekend ahead of them!!!!!
I'm so excited - at my weigh-in on Mon, I'd only lost .1kg. Then I had to do a #2... and there was another .2kg
Then yesterday hopped on the scales to see how I'm going and I was another .4kg down... and now this morning I'm another .2kg down! So at present I'm .8kg down on my monday weight. I'm just hoping it will last till Mon!!
Astrid - I haven't tried a juice detox sorry. I had the same thing happen with Red Rooster the other day. DH wanted it for lunch and I said nope nope, but ended up getting the equivalent for dinner for everyone after all (cos we ate the leftovers that SHOULD have been dinner for lunch!). Arrgh :wall: oh well next time. As for weighing yourself, well given you're going to lose weight - weigh yourself to find out the baseline & to know you'll just get lighter from that - you can do it.
PRM - you were right about my shoes. I have great shoes, properly fitted etc... but I walked in my good walking sandals... and yup, achilles doesn't like that. Which I should know, cos i've got orthotics in my runners .
As for my hips, had a great session with my osteo and we had a good chat about how I can manage my pelvic instability and still walk. She wanted me to pull back from 30 mins a day (grr) but IS happy if I try a leetle bit of jogging. Plus I can try doing two 10 min walks and see how it holds up. Oh and stretch, stretch, stretch of course. Plus my carrot & celery stick sitting in the fridge saved me from snacking on junk yesterday morning and I'm feeling VERY motivated. I haven't had time to keep tracking my food in CK, but I think I've got a better understanding of what I need to eat & my calories per day - plus I'm checking labels and thinking about calories which seems to be helping. Bring on the healthy weekend!
How exciting Belfie!!! I hope that it lasts until Monday too - it's great that you can still exercise too
I am going to weight myself tomorrow as my starting point and start properly for that week. No more excuses!! DP is going away tomorrow until Friday  for work so I am going to use this to distract myself - I'm going to make a plan for the week with food and exercise goals on it - I know one I kick myself into gear with this that I will get really determined to stick to it - I just need to be harsh on myself the first few weeks and not allow any mistakes so that I end up in the right mind frame.
Weigh-in tomorrow, I'm excited! Hope it's ok. Who else is due to weigh-in?
eep, I've nerfed the thread!
Well I've lost 1kg from last week's first weigh-in! (that's right, one whole kilogram, not just .1 hahahah).
Woo hoo I'm so excited. Both DH & MIL reckon they can see the difference. I reckon they're probably just being nice lol. I'm now 1.9kg down... 9.1kg to go!
How is everyone else going?
I had a really bad weekend with food. We went away so we ate a lot of junk food and last night I had a CBF cooking moment so we got Oportos for dinner.
I think I'll make a chicken noodle soup for dinner tonight and there should be enough leftovers for 2 lunches.
Off to the gym for pump in an hour or. I will try to work extra hard to make up for the naughty weekend.
Belfie, WTG on your loss. That's awesome.
Astrid, welcome to our little group :)
Ash, good luck with your weigh in. I'm off weighing for a while. I'm going to concentrate on building muscle and getting fitter and then I'll worry about the kilos later. It gets depressing when I work hard for not much result on the scales.
Good Morning Ladies,
BELFIE _ WTG on the weight loss! 1kg is an awesome effort!!! You should be really happy with yourself!
ONYX _ Go pump some iron woman!!! Will be thinking of you. lol. The chicken noodle soup sounds yummy! Why is it that we always stuff up on weekends? I do the same! Hence my weigh day being Thursday.
ASH _ This is exactly how I started my weight loss journey - by planning all my meals whilst DH was working away. One week will give you a really good kick-start & hopefully inspire you to continue & keep going at it when he is home & avoiding being sabotaged by him! Good luck! What have you got on your meal plans? I LURVE meal plans!
ASTRID _ Welcome & good luck!!! My SIL did the CSIRO diet & she really enjoyed all the meals on it. Can't wait to cheer you on!
PAKRAKMG _ Hey, with your pooches, have you tried a halti on your beagle? I know lots of people see it being used for a snappy dog, but in fact, they don't limit their open/close mouth ability at all. I found with our Border that he only pulled on the lead when the kids were too far in front. The dog trainer told me it was his herding instinct that he didn't have his 'sheep' as close as he would like them & he would pull soooooo bad & it would really drive me insane, but the Halti helped so much with it. Now MIL walks him just on a check chain thing cos he has no kids to keep in line, lol, but I found he walked like a real sh&t when I was walking him over Christmas. Made me realise i have LOTS of work to do with him when we move back. He is getting very spoiled! lol.
ASH _ Did you decide to start the c25 thingy again? Can't wait to hear about it!!
ME _ Well, Seoul was a very pleasant surprise. Not at all like I imagined it to be. We barely got to see any of it though, we got to the hotel at midnight Friday night, went on a tour all Saturday afternoon & got back at 6pm, so the kids were shattered & it wasn't a good move to try take them out again & then we had to leave for the airport at 11am on Sunday, so it only left enough time to have breakfast in the morning, gather our things & check-out. Definitely somewhere I would like to go back to though. I am a bit of a sucker for Guess handbags & they had them at the airport. 2 handbags & a cranky husband later  I was a very happy girl indeed! lol. I ate so much food over the weekend, still not as much as I would have in my previous days, but I still definitely overdid it. I'm not even going to upset myself further by weighing myself, I don't think I'll even weigh this week, but I have gone straight back to my healthy eating & I have done 5km on the cross-trainer this morning. I'm going to try for the next 4 days to do morning & night workouts to try & redeem myself. As for everything else, we returned to Qingdao to find our new landlord has changed her mind on making some amendments to the apartment, so I'm extremely p&ssed off & Alan & I have had a major blow-up over it. The things we asked her to change are really, really cheap things & I'm saying to Alan lets just do it ourselves, but he won't just out of principal & says he wants me to go out looking again. I'm sooooooooooooooooooo over it, it's just not funny. Very unhappy girl right now.
Quickie as I am in bed on my iPhone sorry!
Belfie, that is awesome!! Well done on your amazing achievement! You are almost 1/5 of the way there!
Jayne- I think some more bathroom action may be required here ;) or else put your foot down and say if he wants to find something else then he can go out and find it himself!
Astrid, welcome to our little group :)
Afm, had a gain this week. We had a big celebratory weekend where I really over indulged so I knew it was coming! Hopefully things will settle down soon and I will get back on track!
Did someone ask about juice detox's? A friend if mine did one not long ago, she said she lost 7kgs and only 2kgs came back so she was pretty happy. I didn't get to ask exactly what it was though, could you explain more? I thought it must be something like the lemon detox diet?
*wave* to everyone else!!
Belfie- congratulations on your loss  how exciting!!
Onyx - thanks for the support! I am always tempted to just not weigh myself but I don't think that works for me very well - just gives me a good excuse to ignore that I'm not working hard enough. Now that I'm thinking about it though - when I was running a lot I had to stop weighing myself because I was always disappointed even though I was so proud of my fitness lol - are you following a fitness plan or something?
Jayne - I was going to start the c25k thing but haven't yet - so busy with uni and dd that it's too easy to make excuses! I'm going to focus on my food for a couple of weeks to get the right and then increase the exercise - I feel like if I take on too much change then I will drop the ball
Appletree - the fast I was looking into is from a book that I got a few weeks ago - basically you make a different juice for each meal - it have all the veggies in it and supplements for the other things you miss in your diet from not eating. I've heard of the lemon detox diet but I can't imagine that it's any benefit to your body - it's basically lemon juice and maple syrup none stop for 7 days.
I have looked into it some more and have decided to do a food detox instead - it goes for either a weekend, a week, or a fortnight - so I'm going to start with the weekend one and see how it goes. Then I might try the juice one if I think it's ok ;)
I had my perfect day today - nothing bad to eat at all - in fact my lunch was just Devine lol cant wait for it again tomorrow! Danced around to my old 90s pop cd with dd for an hour too lol - really worked up a sweat!
So bring on tomorrow! I just need to exercise my will power muscle for a couple more days before I will feel like I'm in control again!
Jayne - We didn't try that lead with our beagle, but it was going to be the next thing we tried. We're happy with the lead that's on her now, she can't escape from it which is fantastic. Hope you don't have to do too much work with your dog when you get back, maybe he might just click back into it. Must be hard, I miss my dogs when they go to the kennels for a short space of time!
Congrats on all the losses this week ladies! I haven't been for a walk since last week, slack slack. I was going so well too! Got guests for lunch today, so maybe after lunch, but I'm going tomorrow for sure. DD has her MCHN appointment so I'm walking to the clinic :)
APPLETREE _ After recent events I have shut down the bathroom 'service department'. That should do the trick!!!! bahahaha. In fact, I have shut down any type of service that requires one to be in their respective birthday suit. bahahaha. I have accepted the offer on the apartment & I'm hoping that Alan's company accepts it. If they don't, I have another apartment lined up. (I'm a very resourceful girl!). It's only a 2 bedroom one but it's an executive apartment complex that comes complete with a gym, playground AND a swimming pool. PLUS a cleaner twice per week. Amazing, amazing, amazing apartments - but we can only afford a 2 bedroom one there. So the girls would have to share. Being that they are in school fulltime I really doubt it would be an issue. Only an issue when we have family come to stay - which is in like 4 weeks time. lol. It's a bit further from all my current visiting places. Like the international supermarket, zumba, chinese class & shopping mall, but it's right across the road from the school. So 6 of 1 thing, half a dozen of another kinda scenario.
Sorry girls for a selfish post, but if I don't get on the cross-trainer now, then I won't at all.
xx
Wow Jayne, I like the sound of the second place, it sounds wonderful! What do you do with all the extra free time whilst the girls are at school and the cleaner does all the rest of the work? Sounds like my dream come true!
