Eat more vegetables.
(very simple and they displace all the other bad stuff)
Let me start.
I love water. Have no problem drinking it 99 per cent of the time but, every now and then I feel like something different...Something a little bit sweet. So, I get a large glass, put about 10 frozen blueberries in and top with soda water. You can mush them up a bit if you like but I find they flavour the water anyway. Every now and then you get a little burst of sweetness from a whole berry :)
When you feel like you might fall off the wagon, exercise! Even just a quick walk makes me feel healthier and tends to make me want to reach for an apple instead of chocolate.
Dance while you do your housework ;)
I don't get a chance to get out of the house & exercise & walking doesn't do much, coz all kids have to come & that leads to dawdling...
So I turn up my music while I clean & dance & sing. I also started Zumba (2 days ago:lol:), but every time I'm bored, i'll go put it on & have a go. I'm not too worried about losing weight, i think stress has fixed that for me, but I'm sick of my baby belly!
Being now single & knowing I can get attention is pretty good motivation too :p
I try to do simple things like cutting down sugar in tea and coffee, drinking a glass of water when I feel like snacking (sometimes it's actually thirst not hunger that im feeling. And eating my meals more slowly so I actually stop when I'm full!
It's been a while since i lost a bit of weight, but I remember what I did:
Cut out almost all fats, cut out almost all sugars, drink water and WALK! Simple and effective :)
Oh and I never weighed myself!
Change of attitude :)
I'm losing weight and all I've really done is change my attitude, as a result I'm not craving junk food. Heck I've had a family sized block of chocolate in the fridge for the last week and it is still unopened.
Use smaller plates and bowls. It means you can't fill it up so much, so it is less calories and psycologically you see your plate is full so when you finish your (smaller) meal, you feel full beacuse you ate everything!
A bad moment doesn't have to be a bad day or week, Just get straight back on the wagon.

I have this stuck to my fridge.
I find it hinges on the exercise. If I spend 2 hours in the gym I'm less likely to waste my hard work by making poor food choices.
Omg, that is the funniest thing I have ever seen! I actually snorted :) will be printing it for my fridge...
Have plan/guide. I find it helps if I know what I am meant to be doing, just than just going "oh I want to lose weight" and then making it up as I go.
Ah, Onyx, you got me a gigglin' again :D That's too funny!
I would run around the lounge room and chant "I want to look good in bathers, I want to look good in bathers." LOL! It worked though because I was able to get into a good rhythm with the chant. That and allowing myself one night "off" each week, where I didn't gorge, but could have a little something.
Sit down to eat. Even if it's just a cracker. Making yourself sit down to eat makes you realise what you're eating, quite often it's easy to forget snacking if you're racing round the kitchen preparing something or on the run between errands etc.
attending the gym.
apparently, in addition to paying the membership fees, you actually have to *attend* ...
who'd've thunk it?
Apparently once you attend the gym you actually need to do something called exercise. They say that if you look pretty when you're finished you didn't do it right :o
In our house we always pronounce it Homer style (to rhyme with dime).
Follow the ELF diet.
Eat Less Food.
I was hoping the Elf diet might involve Orlando Bloom.
Well at the moment, I am all nerves because of this guy I am talking to - and the thought of our first meeting is enough to make me behave food wise!
:bump:
I've only been on the journey for 2 months... my secret weapon is green tea. When I want my coffee (with sugar) and biscuits in the afternoon, I have a cup of green tea instead. It speeds up your metabolism and helps curb the cravings. Also being prepared.
ooh yes, green tea. Just can't have a biscuit with the stuff ;)
im doing this great new way of eating and its working SO well for me at the moment. it started as a really mild detox as im breastfeeding and i havnt stopped. basically im not eating ANYTHING with an E number, chemical, anything that i dont recognise as a whole food. i can normally justify the odd bit of cake/ice cream/drink etc cause its only little and inside my daily allowance etc, but with this im limited to what i can actually allow myself. so im not sneaking chocolate cake etc. and i feel GREAT!!! amazing how much all that crap affects our bodies. its not like im saying no to the food i like, but to the numbers, preservatives etc in the food, its a different mind set!!
I have a bar of quality dark choc that i can have a square of, but i hid it at the very back of the garage under the house, its pretty spooky down there and i have to REALLY want it to go and get it, most the time the fear of spiders, snakes and the creapy people that live under my house win and the chocolate stays untouched!!! :)
And, i dont weigh or measure anymore. i have my 'gauge shorts' i would wear them when taking DD1 to her dance class on tuesday and a few weeks ago i couldnt do the button up!!!! now i can fit half my hand in the top!! so somethings working ;)
To eat food my Grandma would recognise, when i cook and eat proper food that used to be alive and growing, almost regardless of what it is, i feel better and lose weight.
I can't exercise as much as I'd like to so I just get back to basics. If I can't exercise then I need to eat less and not drink alcohol. I don't restrict the types of food that I have, just the amount. I had a yummy breakfast this morning with hollandaise so for dinner I had a very small serve of shepherds pie.
Having gestational diabetes during my last pregnancy was fantastic for me. Immediately after having DD2 I was 10kg lighter. So if I want to lose a few kilos I go back to what I was eating when I had GD though not quite as strict.
