Just a guy wanting to say thanks to everyone!

Hi there,
I'm a guy and its taken me a long time to work out all your short handed letters and meanings but here goes, Me and my wife had been trying for 2 years to have children and unable, we went to the doctors and they said just keep trying and see how you go, we had already had 2 miscarriages over the 2 years, we thought it was time to try and find out what was wrong with us, so we went to melbourne ivf in January and we both got tested, found out that i was 99% abnormal swimmers and i was devastated! I am 30 and my wife is 28, if we didnt go and pressure the docs for a referral we could of wasted another year. Anyway we started getting everything together in January and we were advised by melbourne ivf to do icsi, we have just finished our first cycle and just finished (today) the 2 week wait, wow it felt like a month!! anyway just got the results and my wife and I are PREGNANT!!!! Dont hold off, its better to know something is wrong then put more stress on the relationship because of frustration and constantly thinking when is it going to be my turn. I know im a guy but you ladies are very tough (especially after watching what my wife has been thru, the emotional roller coaster and the constant questions and medication.
I wish everyone the best of luck and wanted to say thanks because good or bad experience in ivf the last couple of months has been a lot easier with every ones posts on here for the 100's of questions i have wanted answer to!!

Congratulations! I'm glad you trusted your instincts and pushed for the referrals. It's amazing that the Drs are so lax with referring younger couples and then as soon as you turn 30 they say you should have done something earlier...

So today was the 6 week scan, so lets just say I was that nervous and excited about today that I hardly slept last night. Today was amazing, I saw our child as a 4 cell embryo and today I saw its heart beat, waa such a humbling experience and the best thing I have ever seen. We r so excited and enjoying all the wierd symptoms and excited about the future. Just wanted to say a massive thankyou for all your kind words. Hopefully I can update u all with more great news in the future.

What a lovely couple of posts from you! Congratulations on your pregnancy and on a wonderful scan experience. It's amazing seeing them as a little bundle of cells and then in such a small space of time they already have a perfect little heart beating away. I have two natural babies, and my middle babe is our ICSI/PGD princess. One day I will explain to her what the picture is that looks like a bundle of little bubbles ;)

On monday we had our 9 week scan with Dr Neil Israelsohn at the epworth freemasons, So at the 6 week scan i got to see the heart beating which absolutely blew me away, but it got better, on monday we got to see our little bundle move, it was moving its little arms like it was waving at us. Bought a tear to our eyes, it had a measurement of 2.6cms which the doc said was perfect. After 2 previous early miscarriages this is further along as we have ever been, things have been very different this time though. My wife has had what they call morning sickness, which i have renamed all day sickness and the amount of time she is sleeping is unbelievable. Go to work, come home, eat, sleep. Which the doc says is great. She is still on the pessaries just as a precaution for another week or 2. I'm counting down the days until she is 12 weeks so we can share our secret with our family. The last 2 nights i have averaged 3 hours sleep, i find myself day dreaming about all the different ways we could tell family and friends. haha.. so stupid! I cant wait to tell my dad. I see my dad most days as we both work in the city, and im busting to tell him hes going to be a poppy! haha! So thats about all the news for the moment, im hoping that in 2 weeks 5 days i can share a picture of a healthy 12 week scan on here. Until then best of luck to everyone and just dont give up, our little miracle is happening right now, yours might just be around the corner!

Its getting to the final count down to 12 weeks now, so bloody nervous and excited at the same time! Bring on monday! How do people that have babies naturally manage to wait to 12 weeks to have the first scan, we had the first at 6 week, then 9 weeks and then 12 week (next monday) and im desperate to see him/her again... My wife is now off the pessaries as of 10 weeks which is nice, 1 less tablet or daily procedure she needs to do. lol... Still throwing up and still really sleepy. The Ob gave her some tablets to take away some of the nauseous feeling which seems to have helped quite a lot. I cant say thanks enough for the kind wishes and thoughts i have received from so many people on here really does mean a lot. I normally keep things bottled in but just wanted to try share a positive (so far) experience on here for a lot of people that are struggling. I cant imagine how hard some people have done it and are doing it on here. We are all here wanting the same thing.

Monday was the big day for us, i was so nervous and excited, and tried to stay calm in case something was wrong and i had to be the rock for my wife, well i can now say... Everything is perfect, our little baby is growing very quickly and is 5.9cms and looked amazing! I still cant believe the process of 6 week to 9 week to 12 week scan and how quickly they grow. We had all the tests and blood works done and we have a perfect healthy little one on the way. My wife is being monitored because of her high blood pressure (genetics) in case of Pre-eclampsia later in the pregnancy. When i saw the scan it was like a weight off our shoulders and the calmness that has now come over my wife was amazing. So we went and told family and friends over the past 2 days and the joy that we got to see in our families eyes was something that you cant put into words. When i told my dad (who has a very hard skin) he had tears in his eyes and gave me the biggest cuddle. All i could think is i hope i get to have that same bond and connection with our child that i have with my dad. I have tried to upload a photo but cant work out why it wont let me.. hummfff... The only thing that has been interesting over the past 2 days is some of our friends they asked us how long were you trying for and we said well a little while and they are good friends so my wife opened up to them that we needed assistance with ivf and they didn't quite get it, looking at us like why would you need ivf you are both healthy, active people. But you know what, i couldn't give a stuff! haha! We finally got this far and everything looks great! Our friends may not of understood but the lovely people on this site do understand and having an outlet like this site has made it so much easier for when you feel like you dont know where to turn without being judged or feeling alone!
So i'm thinking of everyone out there and whatever stage of your journey your at... Dont Give Up!

Hi everyone,
Its been some time since i have posted anything but here's whats been happening, My wife and I are now coming to the final stage, we are now 34 weeks along and are so excited its not funny. We have had a few hick ups along the way but touch wood we get thru the last little bit. My wife has pre-eclampsia stemming from hereditary high blood pressure so is taking blood pressure tablets to try keep everything in check, along with aspirin and whole range of other things. She is STILL throwing up everyday and have tried every conceivable way to limit it but with no success. But she still remains so positive and just deals with it on a daily basis ,we remember the ups and downs and constant not knowing of when is it ever going to be our turn thru ivf. We don't forget this everyday, and we don't take it for granted. We have no idea what we are having but don't care either way, we are told that even though my wife has pre-eclampsia and very limited to amount she can do each day the baby is very healthy and in the 70th percentile for size. Which our ob is very happy with, he is talking about maybe inducing labour at 37 weeks so mum and bub aren't in stress. (We find out Wednesday roughly what his plan is). We are so excited its not funny, and its my bday at the end of jan so could be having the best Birthday present ever soon. Hopefully next time i post we will have a bouncing baby causing havoc.

ITS A GIRL!!!! It has been very testing the last couple of weeks but finally home with our girl. It all started on the 25th jan, my wife went in for a scan to see how everything was traveling, we found out my wifes placenta had started to fail and we were now looking at a baby in the 25th percentile. She had dropped from the 80th at 28 weeks to 60th percenile at 34 weeks and then to the 25th percentile when the last scan was done. She was admitted to hospital and the ob was trying to get as much time as possible into the bub. On the 31st of jan my wife was induced as the baby was starting to be in stress. Saturday night we had our little girl which was 1 of the happiest times in my life apart from the fact I was watching our baby girl fight for air as she had wet lungs. She was rushed away to special care nursery with my wife still not seeing her. After 5 days in special care we got to hold our little girl born at 5 pound 1 at 36 weeks. We have now been able to take our little girl home and its the most amazing feeling. So happy to have our little Anneliese Jade at home.

Thank you very much! This forum was a great support for us. And especially me with so many questions but no answers. Then you realise your not alone and if I could shed some light on our little story that might help someone else that never thinks it will be their turn for happiness that great things can happen with persistence and sticking strong with your partner.

Hey everyone, so we are now nearly 6 months into our life with our little girl, it is definitely the best thing ever. Cant even begin to say how exhausting it can be sometimes but all it takes is a smile she gives you when I walk in the front door and you forget how tired you are. Just love her to bits.
My wife wants to do another ivf icsi cycle very soon, if I said I wasn't nervous that would be an understatement. Its really hard to except sometimes that I cant give my wife a natural way to have a child. Sometimes I wish I could just order a stalk or find that 1% of me that worked correctly so she didn't have to go through the ivf cycle. So when the next roller coaster ride begins I will let u know how we go. Good luck to all.
