Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Good idea tubbles! All our babies have arrived :)
Are your babies having many awake periods? My boy seems to only be awake to feed during the day. Then have an awake period at bedtime, then again at 3/4am. Super annoying!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Yeah, more awake periods now. Probably 2 "long" periods a day
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
1 and a half weeks and changed so much already. Doesn't seem like a freshie any more :( I want him to slow down! Time is going too fast. This is meant to be my last so I want to savour it!!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I've been the opposite the last couple days. A bit over the constant feeding already.
Totally ready for DP to go back to work now too. Come on Tuesday.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Lol! My DP has just started his leave. How come you can't wait for him to go back? What's going on? Sometimes they seem to make life harder being around, trying to help but not really knowing what to do ;)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Would we like to list everyone's birth dates?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
He has been super with DS1. I've really needed that help. But too much time in each others face has never been good for us. And now that I'm feeling pretty good I'm ready to go back to being the main caregiver. We do things differently and I try to micromanage and that annoys him and then he gets on my nerves lol it's a vicious cycle.
Yes to a list. Heath was born on the 21st. Are we adding any other details?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I don't know, is there anything else that you'd like to list?
Lol, DP and I seem to fight about parenting. I'm (mostly) patient and flexible, while he is the calm in the storm (the non yeller lol). I feel like I'm managing three 3-5yos as DS1 (especially) annoys DP with his three year old antics. DP then gets quickly annoyed and just makes him do stuff which aggravates the situation. I try to give him suggestions, he tells me that I yell too much so not to get on my high horse... Lol. Fun times ;)

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
DS2 has his day the wrong way around today. Slept all day, now waking every hour :(
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Sounds really similar to our disagreements tubbles. We just think it should be done differently to how each other does it. I want to be gentle, he says tough love so we don't raise pansies. Cue argument. And with ds1 going through his 2yo struggles, it's all a bit exaggerated at the moment.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Hello! Finally found the thread (thanks Peace).
I'm going ok... Got a slight infection in my uterus a few days ago so on ABs. It was bloody agony! Just so happened that DP went away last Thursday and isn't back til this Thursday. Seems to be one thing after another as last night DS seems to have picked up a cough out of no where. He's also desperately wanting to be in my bed which is making co-sleeping really hard!! Thank goodness DD slept in her bassinet for 2x2 hour stints!
We finally decided on the name Ellie - only took us 1.5 weeks to decide!!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Love Ellie. It was a name on the list for DD.
DS2 is still sleeping all day and waking lots overnight.
Sounds similar to our things with DS1 (who is 3.5). DP doesn't have the patience to negotiate with DS1, and then it escalates quickly, as he forcibly tries to get him to do something or argues over something silly. I just say now, "are you ready to be the adult now?" With DD we are on the same page, but DS1 can be quite particular about stuff, and he feels if we keep "giving in" then he'll always be particular, while I'm of the opinion of "picking your battles" - does it really matter that he said no to water and has now asked for it? Does it matter he wants a particular cup, or shirt on? All age appropriate I believe, anyway.
Went to the beach today. Ended up spending the whole day there. I'm used to having winter babies so this whole newborn at the beach thing was a bit weird. No hats that fitted him, no rashies in his size, etc... Ended up just chillin' under the gazebo with him. Would've loved to have gone for a swim, but dr Google said no :(
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Tubbles and Peace my DP is exactly the same with my DS too! Pick your battles is my daily mantra, but DP struggles with silly things that I am just left wondering WHY argue!!! I thought it was just because he's stubborn! But good to know it happens to others!!
Chilling at the beach sounds lovely. It's actually quite fresh and windy here today... A nice change from the warmer weather and giving my hayfever a slight break.
Took DS to a place called Inflatable world today! It was pretty awesome. Ellie woke once. I love early newborn days!!!

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Haha, they sleep so much! I just spent most the time staring at him :p

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I wonder how FF is going.
Can't believe DS2 is going to be 2weeks old tomorrow. It seems like he has been here forever and only for a blink of an eye all at the same time.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Yes I hope FF is ok, and getting plenty of support.
I walked back to my room to find DS holding DD... She was holding her fine, but I don't think I can leave him with her!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Hi ladies, sorry I went MIA, life has been a struggle but I'm getting there. This is my second week home without hubby home, not been as bad as I thought.
DD is going ok. Slow weight gain but Mchn is happy. She hates her cot so we co sleep. She's a hard to feed and settle bubba, really testing me and living on very little sleep. She is 4 weeks old tomorrow :)
Her dob is 9/9/15
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
FF glad to hear from you. When does your hubby get back?
Glad your DD is going ok. Big hugs on having the tough to settle babe... Never easy. I'm sure you'll find your way soon.

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
FairyFloss had a girl :cheer: - 9th September
Peace had a boy :bluecheer:- 21st September
Tubbles had a boy :bluecheer: - 23rd September
EssTee had a girl :cheer: - 23rd September
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Oh dear, FF! Hard to settle babies make it so hard to function when you have other kids who need your energy too. I hope you find something that works and gets you both lots of rest x
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Thinking I need to head to an LC. Wish they had them at hospital. Would've been awesome to be told about ties when they are born before they develop their habitual latch.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
4 week check today. My bubba is 4.2kg, 54cm long. Slow and steady! Things still not right with me. I have enhanced mchn coming tomorrow.
How is everyone else settling in??
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Tubbles have you seen the LC yet? I think that its really annoying that it's so common that babies aren't diagnosed with ties. You would think given the issues it can cause and how common the condition is, that any medical person involved with the start of babies life (midwife, OB etc) would be trained to recognize it.
FF I'm glad bubs is growing so well! I hope that you get some more help or answers when you see the enhanced mchn.
My uterus infection has finally nearly cleared up. It really freakin hurt for a while.
We've had a few rough nights with DS and DD... They take it in turns to wake up and neither will settle without me... DS has chunked out since milk has come in... He still only gets 2-3 feeds a day but my goodness... He's chubby!!!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Crap, think I missed your thing about an infected uterus, EssTee, how'd they figure that out?
What is an enhanced MCHN?
DS2 has only put 30g on from his birth weight. Feels lame, but I guess it's really 330g in over two weeks...
No LC yet, there doesn't seem to be any in this area :( seeing a gp that has knowledge of ties tomorrow.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
It's ok i can't remember if I mentioned it. I had some pain that got bad really quick. Went from what I though was trapped wind to bad cramps. My MW came and felt my tummy and said she suspected a bit of an infection brewing and gave me a script for ABs and told me to expect some festy clots!
I haven't weighed DD since she was a week old.. She'd put on 500g [emoji15]. I'm not surprised.. She's very greedy!!!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Enhanced mchn offer more in depth help and advice, access to more health and support services.
DD only had gained 65g in 3 weeks and was on weekly weigh in. But finally put on a good amount the last 2 weeks. Now 500gm over birth weight. Hard to think she's 5 weeks tomorrow. Dreaded 6 week inmunisations are looming
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I don't know what to do with immunisations. I usually do a delayed schedule, but wonder if it will stuff up my FTB payments....
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I'd skip them all together if I could, but I know Id get mummy guilts if something was to happen to my girl. Wish I could get the needles for her and pass the vaccine on somehow. Hubby usually does it but I'll be doing it alone this time.
She has a bad cough at the moment and sounds like she gasps for air. Bit scary :(
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Oh no! Have you seen a dr? I'd be scared too.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
She's now on prednisone for 3 days as she has croup
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Oh no! Poor subsequent children, they seem to pick up all sorts from the older kids and from having to just fit in to the lives we have to continue. Would be so lovely if we could really do the "spending 30 days around the bed" type thing.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
How many of you feel "done"? I thought I would feel complete after having my third. I always wanted 3... But now I'm feeling like having another, like there is a little girl out there for me too, in the universe, but my logical brain tells me 3 is plenty - 4 would just push us past what we can manage.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I was 1000000% certain I was done, but my body craves 1 more. Would love a son, my body is a girl maker predomantly though lol
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Oh no FF I really hope that your Bub recovers quickly. Must be scary. DS has a cold and cough at the moment so I'm really hoping that DD doesn't get it... Had a few horrid nights!!
In my head, I've always said I wanted two... I was brought up to think two was a good number... But I'm definitely not done. I have to convince DP we aren't done... And then I have to get ready for the onslaught of "you're crazy" and "but you already have a pigeon pair" etc etc...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
We already had a pigeon pair too, EssTee. I always wanted 3 though. My mum thought 2 was enough, and tried to distill that in to me, but maybe that is why I wanted 3, haha. DP only wanted 2, said maybe a third if we had two girls (when pregnant with DS1), but he wouldn't want more as we'd need a people mover, lol.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Oh! Forgot to mention, went to the GP, he said the ties weren't worth snipping as they were pretty flexible, so it'd be highly unlikely it'd improve our breast feeding journey. So now on the look out for an LC. Waiting until after our local ABA meeting on Tuesday though.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I have not been getting my alerts since I think the tapatalk app updated. Sorry ladies!
Ess tee there is an inflatable world near me ;) I wonder if we are nearby. Are you tandem feeding? How's that's going?
Sorry to hear you've had an infection that must have been uncomfortable :( as if the recovery isn't yucky enough!
Tubbles a bubthat big from birth couldn't gain as quickly as smaller bubs do surely? He'd be huge!! Hope you are able to find some help with your suspected tie issues soon.
FF I'm sorry to hear your little ones had croup!! Poor little mite how scary for you too. DS1 had that twice when he was 1, and just turned 2 and even at that age it was horrible. How's she doing now?
Our new bubs nearly 4wks old! I haven't had him weighed since he was 2 weeks old. And I won't until we take him for his 6wk needles probably. We are onto them at exactly 6 weeks because whooping cough has been making a big comeback in our area.
I adore him. He's just a really normal Bub. He loves cuddles and boobies, being held, pooing and farting loudly, sleeping in our bed, and interrupting dinner every single time. But I'm loving it. And seeing my two kids together?!? No one prepared me for how much I was going to love that. I swear I spend all day taking photos of them together!
More children... Funny you have all thought about it this week I have too. We were so sure when we were pregnant with this little guy that we were done. But now neither of us are sure. I'm definitely done for now but in a few years who knows. I'm getting a mirena and if we still don't want more babies in 5 years, DP will get desexed.

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Not sure if they gain weight faster or slower. My daughter was a textbook breast feeder and gained about 250-300g a week. DS2 gained less than that, mostly due to undiagnosed ties. DS2 seems somewhere in the middle. Would be interested to know how big he is now though, I should contact the MCHN for our appointment - lol. We played phone tag a bit and then I gave up, but would be interested now... Just don't want the whole appointment with them though. The MCHNs in our area are renown for how "bad" they are, especially with breastfeeding and "natural parenting" style parents. They are so out of date with their info, and I'm sure have no idea about breastfeeding past the initial stage, some of the advice I got with DD - eek! So glad I was happy to do my own research, and confident in myself, even though I was a first time mum.

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
My princess is doing much better now.
Time needs to slow down, she's 6 weeks on Wednesday!
