Deb, it's so frustrating when they have long sleeps in the day but not at night isn't it?! Thanks for the offer of lending an ear if I need it. Might have to take you up on it one day.... Same offer is there for you too.

No worries. I know how hard it is to get to the computer atm so it's easier if you can just call.
I will have my mobile attached to me all day (waiting to hear from Fi) so, yeah, you should be able to reach me anytime :)

Neil is in Gabby's room trying to get her back to sleep. She woke after just 30 minutes :roll:

Bummer about the short sleep Deb, but maybe it means she'll sleep longer tonight.... Or is that wishful thinking?!!!

Aaron found the name Alexzander which we both loved - that's the medieval spelling with the z in it, we're into medieval things BTW. BUT we didn't like it shortened to Alex & knowing that kids always get nicknames we decided to make it Zander. MIL calls him Alex, but I think she does it to bother me, everyone else calls him Zander except my dad who called him Zed!! 9 times out of 10 Aaron & I call him Alexzander, but Zander is just shorter to type!

Good idea on picking that nickname early. LOL at the MIL! We called Jemma, Nemmy for ages and now at 2 the little miss refuses to answer to that name and just says "I'M Demma" (she can't say the j soundLOL)

Unfortunately Jessica has been called budsy by her father which is short for Budda. I tried to change it but she really likes it and laughs when anyone calls her it. When we picked Joshua we knew we would also call him Josh but he also got Joshie. He has his days when he wants to be Joshua and then others when he wants to be Josh and he tells us.

hope you get a good sleep tonight and Zander sleeps like a baby.

I especially liek the one of you guys on the couch - you look like a very calm and happy mummy. Sweet.
I also have that piggy outfit!! It was the very first thing Mum sent me when she found out we were pregnant, so its kinda special. Its a 00 though, so it wont get out of the cupboard for a few months. I have always had a thing for piggies (a bit like Deb's bees, but not quite so obsessive.... ;) ) so alot of people buy me piggy things.

Well - hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to post in here for real!!! Thats if Spud and the hossy play ball today. I'm not convinced...

It's funny how nicknames work isn' it Michelle? My younger sister is Amanda & my parents called her Mandy from when she was a baby. First day of kindergarten mum gets a phone call saying she was hysterically crying - turns out the teacher called her Amanda & my sister was crying saying "That's not my name!". Now though at almost 21 she prefers Amanda!

My sisters bought the piggy outfit for him the day I found out I was pregnant Fi & yup it's sooo cute. LOL at looking calm & happy as well - that was just after a BIG crying episode!! Fingers crossed little Spuddy comes out to play today......

I think we may have this sleeping business worked out too \:D/ He slept from 10.30-2.00 had a bottle then 2.30-6.20 & now he's playing in his swing. Two nights in a row with only 1 wake up AND it was only for about 1/2 an hour \:D/ I think he's worked out which is his middle of the night feed cos we can do a nappy change, bottle & be back in bed within 1/2 an hour - no chance of that during the day.

Aww Colleen that sounds aweful. I hope you guys get some rest when you get back from the Drs.

Aww Sarah he's such a cutie. I can't wait to see him for real next weekend.

As for nicknames my kids don't really have them. Occasionally Joel gets called Joely - less as he gets older, or one of his mates calls him Jo??
Brandon used to get called Boo by his Dad.
Noah - well what can you do to that unless your DP's stupid family and call him NO NO ](*,)
Tehya - well I guess she does have some, usually precious - should have put that on her birth certificate instead, or princess.

Hmm summing that all up I guess they do have nicknames #-o

Colleen, hope that all goes well today for James and that he recovers nicely.

Deb, I hope that Gabbys still sleeping nicely for you and that you are feeling better too.

Tehya decided that she would feed on Saturday/night and Sunday every 2 hours. My boobs are so drained and she has split both of my nipples (OUCH) went to fix up nursing pad this morning and it had stuck to my lefty and pulled the skin off it again, nothing like a bleeding nipple. Worse part is trying to feed from them. I gave her a bottle of formula last night - around 115mls anyway she gulped it down and left only a little. I swear at the moment this baby is like a pirana anything that goes near her moth is quickly sucked in, she goes mad on her dummy. Mark was calling her Maggie (simpson). She settled well on the bottle and went down from just after 8.30pm to around 1.30am so that was good, but she woke every 2 hours again after that.

Hopefully it is just another growth spurt. Hasn't she grown enough already :)

Sarah - Just love your pics of Zander. Glad I have just had a baby because all these baby pics would usually make me very clucky LOL. Yeah on the good sleep last night!

Jacob seems to have settled in to a lovely pattern (touch wood!!) The last 2 nights he has gone to sleep around midnight and woken for a nappy change and feed about 4 then straight back to bed after literally falling on the breast. This morning I was waiting for him to wake up about 6:30 like he has been and he slept until 7:45 so I'm pretty impressed with him today. Currently he is flopped asleep in the middle of my bed and the boys keep going in to see if he will wake up so they can hold him.
Today is Jeff's first day back at work and he has already sent 2 sms's since 7am when he got there to see how Jacob is - gotta love him! I also have "taxi duty" to do today - shuttling Matt and 2 friends to football training at midday and picking them up at around 2 so I'm hoping Jacob is going to be agreeable with this plan 8-[

Awww Sarah! Zander is such a little spunk! Great photos. It's awesome that he is sleeping so well now! Just in time for Aaron going back to work. How are you coping so far?
I think Zander and Gabby have completely swapped sleeping habits! She has been a shocker!
Last night I was at my wit's end! She didn't sleep from 2pm onwards (except for little cat-naps). It got til about 7pm and I put her in her cot and said "Fine, don't sleep - see if I care!" and stormed out of her room. I can't believe i could get so angry at a defensless little baby! Neil heard me on the monitor and came in to sit with her. Wouldn't you know it, she bloody-well fell asleep with him!!! Grrr!
She slept for 4 hours (I jumped into bed straight away!) so that was good. Then she woke every 2 hours from then on :roll: So much for our nice 6 hour sleeps!
She wouldn't go to sleep after 7:30am this morning and is still struggling. I think she is really windy. I have tried some gripe water but she threw that up. Slowly going nuts but trying to remind myself that it's all temporary. I got sick and tired of being inside so I thought she may aswell grizzle next to me at the computer than grizzle at me in the house!

We have our ANC reunion tonight. I am not going to miss it - I don't care how grumpy she is. I missed the last BB get together so it ain't gonna happen today! So I have until 6pm to get her to have a decent nap today. Fingers crossed, hey?

Trish - OUCHIES on the nipples! That sounds aweful! Little Tehya must have one hell of a suck on her! LOL @ her being a Pirana!

Happy 3 weeks Gabby!!! Deb you poor thing, it's hard isn't it? I got cranky with Zander & yelled at him the other day & felt the same way 8-[ I think it must be a normal thing...

Sounds like Jacob is doing really well in the nights Nat, lets hope he stays that way. LOL at the boys wanting him to wake up too.

Ouchies at the split nipples Trish, I had the same problem when Zander was 2 days old.

We are managing really well without Aaron today *phew* I think Zander knows & is being good so I don't freak out LOL

Oh that's great news, Sarah! Good boy, Zander! That's what we like to hear :) Thanks for the congrats on Gabby being 3 weeks (although it feels like it has been 3 months!).

Still no decent sleep today. She keeps having 10 minute cat-naps. Fingers crossed that the one she is having now will last at least a couple of hours. 4 would be brilliant but I am not pushing my luck ;)

Isn't it funny how it seems waaay longer than 3 weeks. I said the same thing to Aaron yesterday.

I think sleep deprivation might have something to do with it, Sarah ;) We are awake for many more hours than we used to be!! LOL

Don't feel so bad for getting cranky with your bubs, we all do it and guess what??? we'll do it even more as they get older :) Tiredness and frustration will do that to you.

So no nanna naps for either of us today, hey Trish?
Honestly, I can't sleep during the day n e way (unless I am sick or pregnant, LOL). It's good to know I am not the only one getting cranky @ the baby. It frightened the living daylights out of me that I could be so mean about it. I just don't have much patience! I think at times like that, it's the best time to just walk away and take some deep breaths. I repeat to myself just how much I wanted to have this baby and how much of a gift she is to me.... it helps!!

She has been stirring but not crying.... so far so good. It has been an hour. Just one more would be nice!!

Sorry Deb, Tehya is fed and back to sleep so maybe I will get my Nana nap afterall. I can sleep anywhere at anytime (not literally anywhere :)) I have no problem with that, be it the lounge, bed, floor or trampoline.

Yeah it helps to remind yourselfof these things. I keep remembering how much I realy wanted this little girl. The thing is I am getting cranky at Noah more often than not, this morning he decided that it would be fun to put a pillow (bed one) over Tehya's head, lucky I was walking in the room as he was doing it. I went crankjy at him but you can't go too mad or he might start to resent Tehya.

Oh I don't blame you, Trish! Noah is right at that age where he is going to test your patience every chance he gets! On top of that, you have a newborn! Oh dear @ him trying to put a pillow over her head though. Isn't it amazing what younger siblings have to put up with that the first born never does? Maybe that's why the younger siblings are tougher than the older ones in some respects?? (I can say that because I am the eldest ;) ).

Neil said something about us having another baby down the track - I can't remember the context. I took one look at him and said; "Nup... this is it. I don't want any more. You can go and get a vasectomy tomorrow". He thought I was kidding!

Yikes at Noa with the pillow. Lucky you got him in time.

Deb I have said the same thing - Zander will be an only child! I know I'll change my mind in a few months though ;)

I want Gabby out of nappies before I even consider another child! I dunno how Trish and Tanya and all the other with more than one do it!

There goes the Nana nap. My "princess" is awake again.

I keep telling Mark he has to go for the snip too. Only difference is that I really do mean it. 4 is more than enough kids. One more would be nice though (j/k :) ) Wedon't wamt anymore but he hates the idea of getting done. I figure why should I, it's easier for him. I have told im he doesn't get any sex til he gets it done. I wonder if that will work ???

I figure after all the crap our bodies go through to have these kids, the blokes can bloody well suck up their pride and get the snip. It's not even major surgery for them!
Imagine that?? Never having to be on the pill again and, yet, not risking getting preggo!! Oh, it sounds all too lovely!

Urrgh... the plasterer just came by to sand back the job he did on Saturday. He is like 3 hours early! Who has heard of tradies being early?? Anyway, I asked him if it was going to be loud because I had just got the baby to sleep. Thankfully he did it by hand and not with a machine so it didn't disturb Gabby at all. Phew! She is still asleep! Hooray! That's 2 hours now. My prayers were answered!

Now we can put an undercoat on the walls and Neil can put the kitchen in. Do you know how heavenly it is going to be to have an oven AND a dishwasher?? LOL

Awww Deb there are sometimes when I get so frustrated with Matilda, and feel so guilty about it, I mean they don't know do they? And I have often put her in her cot to go outside and have a few deep breaths... thats all normal :) This morning I was trying to get ready for work, get her stuff together for her only day of day care and I was feeding her breakfast which was becoming a nightmare, so I threw the food in the sink and yelled "fine then starve!" Luckily DH came and gave her a bottle so I could do some other stuff and had time to settle...

Sarah I've been thinking of you today, I even tried to call but its been engaged :)

Aww Christy that's lovely of you, thanks! I had to try 5 times before actually getting my Dr on the phone ](*,) He's happy to leave Zander's meds as they are, but I found out he is supposed to be having them 20mins before his feed & we were giving them to him immediately before - oops! No wonder it made him cranky.

yay for Zander Sarah, that is really good and glad things went well without Aaron. I too love the pic of you and Zander on the couch, it is so nice to see a mummy and her bub relaxing.

Deb-we have more cos we forget and cos we look at the little dears and love them so much. It seems like sucha good idea to have another and then you get into the labour ward.LOL I too am waiting for Arron to have the snip! He is procrastinating of course. And I am on the pill at the moment but I don't want to do that for ever and it is easier for him, I did my bit. I am with you Trish 4 is way enough!

Hope things are better colleen, it is definitely tough at your place at the moment.

Morning Girls

Thought I should pop in and let you all know how things are going. Have been a bit scarce as I am feeling very sore.

Nixee's first night home was pretty hellish but I put that down to after having to give so much blood for tests and having her hep injection etc. Sunday night was really good. She had a bottle at 11.30 and slept till 3.50 then till 5.30 when she seemed to want a top up and then slept from 6.30 until 11.45. Last night she slept from midnight until 4 and is still asleep now. She is a piggy with her feeds and is happily guzzling 60 - 70 mls a time.

The kids are wrapped in her but unfortunatel are both sick with a virus so they cant go near her. My ds has been so upset over it and has been crying at the drop of a hat because he wants to hold her.

Dh has been an absolute hero. He has helped so much as I am so sore. He does the botttles and sterilising and let me sleep all night last night. Gotta Love Him!!!

Not sure where to post this but I though someone would be able to help me somehow. I am not breastfeeding and my milk came in last night but my bbs are red hot and so lumpy. Do I just leave them or what??? I had asked for something to stop the milk at the hospital but they forgot.

Will start catching up on posts from now so I can do personals.

Kayla, sorry I never had to deal with milk coming in and not using a baby on them :) But I do know that if you put some cabbage leaves in your bra they are supposed to help with them engorgement.

What a bugger that the other kiddies are not well, hopefully the get better soon and can start to enjoy their new little sister.

Hope that you are feeling better soon too.

Hey guys,
Just posted a birth announcement for Fi. Her little Jenna Morine is finally here! Now she can join us here! WOO HOO!!

Kayla - sorry to hear you had a rough first night at home. It seems to be the done thing with bringing babies home, hey? It's no good that Nixee's siblings are sick either. The poor things. They must feel like lollies are being wafted under their nose and they can't have any.

Last night went really well. We had our ANC reunion. Our midwife was there and she sat with all of us one on one and asked about our birth. We all had pretty different experiences so it was a mixed bag. 3 of us were c-sections, one a vacuum extraction with a spinal block and the other a completely natural birth but with 30 stitches from tearing. We were there until about 9pm and would have stayed longer if we weren't all afraid that our babies were going to crack the poos. All of them slept through the whole thing in their prams!! We are going to organise another get together so that Fi can make it this time. The midwife wants to hear all about her experience too!

We got home, I gave Gabby a bath and a bottle and she zonked it for 4 hours. By this stage, my boobs were just about bursting so she got a huge feed (took an hour and a half!) but only slept for another 2 hours. 6 hours sounds great but not broken up! I think she wakes up when Neil has a shower as the bathroom is right next door to her room. Not sure if I can do anything about that :( So I was up again at 6am, trying to get her to go back to sleep but she wanted to play. The little bugger was smiling away, eyes wide open. So I put her in the bouncer for a play while I had breaky then gave her another huge feed. The poor thing is so windy that it's hard to put her back in her cot because she hates being on her back. Still, she went back down at 8am and is still down without a peep. Here's hoping she gets a good few hours. I should be back in bed but I am awake now. By the time I drift off again, I will just have to get up to have a shower because I have visitors coming at 10am. Ah well. I have it far better than some.

Speaking of which, I am soooo sorry to hear you had another rotten night, Sarah. Just when we thought Zander had settled down, hey? Big :hugs: 4 you.

Firstly Congratulations Fi on your little girl. WTG girl =D>

Deb, You think that when you gt such a good feed into them that they would just sleep for ages hey. If only it would work that way.

Gee Tehya stinks. I just walked into the lounge room where she is and blamed one of the boys for farting and it was her 8-[ LOL Don't you hate it when you've only just finished changing them and they do another poo...

Sarah, sorry that you had another bad night. Maybe Zander was trying to make up for the good day that you had yesterday :)
