Cravings
After discussing bizarre cravings with Gypsy yesterday, I have been compelled to start a 'reveal all' thread in search of the grosest pregnancy craving out there!
I'll start and say that some funny cravings I have when pregnant were:
- Suimin instant noodles, but chucked out the noodles and only had the juice!
- Icing sugar in a cup!
Obviously my body was craving salt then sugar!
Who's next? :D
-
I don't think my boss was all that impressed when I turned up to work one day with a sardine and pickled onion sandwich!! Still sounds nice to me now!! LOL
Well, when I was pregnant I turned into a cheese, milk and olives freak! Couldn't get enough of them!
Also, anything sweet made me want to throw up - so much for the old wive's tale that craving savoury foods means you are having a boy!!
I reckon Kel's Suimin thing is SOOOOOO funny! What a dag!!
-
Hamburger
Every day...all day I crave a huge juicy hamburger with greasy chips!!!
The weird thing is I have only been eating meat for a few months prior to PG and hamburgers were not on my need to eat list ever!! I was vego for 4 years!! And I usualy hate greasy food! I used to not eat anything fried....but now mmmmmmm.......

I was very very boring
For a week all i wanted to eat when pregnant with Kameron was apples and oranges. (I am not a fruit eater lol)
Had no cravings with #2 as yet.

With number one, I craved peanut butter sandwiches every day. I HATED peanut butter before that! Didn't have anything with the other two though.
-
I craved sun-dried tomatoes, big time. It was a serious and expensive addiction! Just tonnes of them, on their own or in some nice soft bread. Other than that I had no appetite at all really. Oh, yeah, also plain potato chip and sundried tomato sandwiches too! And tomato sauce sandwiches. And sweet coconut rice pudding.
I used to love peanut butter before I got pregnant, and whenever I ate it when I was pregnant I got really really sick -- so I stopped having it, because I was worried it may mean the baby was allergic to peanuts or something. I haven't been able to stomach peanuts ever since. I don't really like coconut rice anymore either :x
-
Its funny what some women crave while they are pregnant. I remember hearing some women love smelling washing detergants etc, very weird!!
-
i also craved the instant noodle juice! but I ate the noodles too... then DH decided I was eating too many noodles and not enough "real" food with nutrients and wouldn't let me buy anymore
-
Oranges. Mandarins. Tangerines. Orange Fanta. Orange flavoured icy poles. Orange Starburts. Orange jelly. Orange snake lollies. Orange juice........I am not kidding, I drink about 2 litres a day! Anything orangey, especially the fake orange flavour!
-
hi girls,
If you read my earlier post you will see I had a craving for all things tomato, especially sundried tomatoes -- well the craving came back with a vengeance a whole week before my BFP. I knew as soon as I had an unstoppable craving for sundried tomato that I was pregnant again
Yummmm
Another thing I've been craving a lot is polenta, and yesterday I made little polenta toasts and put thick thick vegemite on them :P
Polenta with Sundried tomatoes! mmmmm

Hi there.... I'm off the hamburger cravings now and onto Poweraid or sports drinks... I don't know but its been the only way to curve nausea & vomitting (still, I know)...
Hot chips still rear its ugly head now and then...

With Emma it was anything Lemon ... lemonade icy poles, lemon squash, lemon cordial, lemon chicken, lemon chupachups ... the list goes on.
With Jack I dont really remember ... spent a lot of time sick and then I think it was probably hot chips.
This time ... pickled onions, gherkins, hot chips with gravy, cheese & onion chips ... so sour or salty :? Spent a lot of time not feeling like eating with this one either ... oh yeah the other thing is cereal at night time before I go to bed.
Cheers

My cravings were pretty boring. All I wanted was ice cream, but not any ice cream, Baskin Robbins ice cream. I drove my partner nuts. Every night nearly we would have to drive to Baskin Robbins so I could get my fix. In the end, however, I finally settled for ice cream brought from the supermarket. Thank god because Baskin Robbins ice cream isn't really that cheap.
-
My first craving was just b4 i found out i was pregnant and it was hot chips dipped in cadbury cream eggs,
then i craved mash for 7months, i also craved taco shells with jam,
fresh bread and sweet tea and ICE lots and lots of ice.
-
ahhh babbakins I just read your post and think I might have to have some mash now...mmmmmmmmmm.........

Oh boy - Pinapple juice and Lollies (I love allens lollies - sorry couldnt resist). I have always been a big chocolate fan and never ate lollies but now - OMG - last week I went through a whole packet of snakes by myself - LOL (no wonder my clothes are getting tight!!!!)

I was always craving chocolate about ten minutes after the shop up the road shut. Then I bought multi-packs, and I don't have as much of a problem. Just wanted what I couldn't have I guess. It was funny, even if I couldn't see a clock, I knew when it was 8:15pm!
Oh yeah, and on new year's eve (or very early morning day) I wanted gherkins. Specifically sliced gherkins, on Arnott's savoury flavoured shapes. I almost made my partner walk down to a 24hr McDonalds, the urge for gherkins was that bad. But by then it was 3 or 4 am, and I felt too guilty. The next day, I didn't want them anymore. That was weird.
Can anyone top that?
-
I remember when I was pregnant I craved frozen lasagne & fried egg, fried onion sandwiches.
One thing I was madly craving for was soft serve ice-cream but as we all know it is a no-no during pregnancy. Poor DH would have to drive the long way home so we wouldn't pass a McDonalds or when we went shopping we would have to totally avoid Wendy's or Mr Whippy.
Did or does anyones craving drive their partners crazy??
-
My new craving is peppermint freddo frogs!!!! Why oh why cant I crave something like carrots or bananas or crackers or at least something a bit more healthy - LOL

It's ok Jen.
I'm always craving chocolatey things. Except for today, when I really wanted jelly babies or gummi bears, or snakes. Just anything gummi/jelly and fruity. I just got back from the shop and couldn't restrain myself, ended up getting a pack of Starburst sour gummi rings. Mmmmm, gummi.
The other day I totally wanted anything with a sweet artificial llime flavour. Icypole, cordial, lollies, I wasn't fussed. Got home and had an icypole, and the next day bought lime cordial. I guess I'm lucky / unlucky to have a mini supermarket up the road that's open till 8pm. The upside is I can almost always get what I'm craving. The downside is I spend too much on chocolate. And because they don't have a huge range, if I've given in to myself and gone to get something and they don't have it, then I have to do the 20-30min walk to the Coles open till midnight, because once I tell myself I can have something, I have to get, or I drive myself nuts! :)
-
Hmm you are gonna die when you hear this - but I just need to go out the back gate and 1 minute up the path and I am at Coles!!!! Can be good and bad - mainly BAD!!!
Anyway off to get some of those yummy yummy frogs

New craving!!!
My new craving is........WEETBIX!! Yes...totally bizarre! LOL
Well it's not weetbix as such, but I bought the Sanitarium brand called 'Lite Bix' and have a couple with some milk and a teaspoon of sugar sprinkled on top!! I've already had weetbix for breakfast and for lunch and I simply MUST eat them again this instant!! ROFLMAO
Off to feed the baby weetbix.................
-
At least it's healthy!
I don't think I've hada single healthy craving yet, unless you count really wanting grapes after I've just finishede them all! :) LOL
-
LMAO Tootie. Well I hope the weetbix is filling you up and quenching your starvation a bit !!
I am really boring during pregnancies with no great craving for anything. There was a week when pregnant with Kameron that i wanted apples and oranges but that was it.
Love :smt049
-
OMG this is terrible...I went and had my third fix of weetbix and then felt fine, only to come back in here, see my own post again and feel like them AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
hehe. Well after typing about grapes, I had to go get some from the fridge, and will again now too. Bet I really want them again in like half an hour after I finish them off.
-
I hate to mention it, but I heard something about Kahlua slices in 3rd trimester this week, and have been craving them since!! I'm holding back though!
Christy
-
It's ok Christy. I was just in the fridge and grabbed one, so I was just heading off to get another when I read this post. LOL
So no harm done!
You should try them though, very yummy.
-
Yeah I've seen those Kahlua slices in the shops but I can honestly say they don't appeal to me - probably a good thing! Wish I could say the same about Cadbury Peppermint chocolate!!!! Oooooh....to die for!!!!
Do you ever find yourself mysteriously in a certain section of the supermarket and wonder how on earth you got there, and then realise that you've been standing there looking at a certain thing and thinking about it for 5 minutes or something? LOL I've found myself doing this on a few occasions - I swear the baby is telling me it needs something specific and all of a sudden I find myself in that section of the shopping isle! E.g. I haven't eaten yoghurt in quite a while, but the other day I found myself perusing all the different types of yoghurt at the supermarket and I was just putting some in the shopping basket when I realised what I was doing IYKWIM!! I must saying I'm enjoying the yoghurt though! LOL
-
Oh, yum.
I think I'm going to have to stop talking about food. Or smelling food, or seeing it. I'm gettting smpathetic cravings: what ever anyone else has or talks about I want. It was really bad when my housemate came home with pizza, and DP and I were just having homemade steak sandwiches, which weren't ready for another hour!
I had been going through heaps of yohgurt, but stopped when dairy started making me nauseous. Now that I can eat dairy again, I've been thinking I should get some next time I do a proper shop. And now I really want some. Roll on payday!
-
Yeah I know what you mean Susan!!! There have been a couple of things I have read about other people craving and then not long after I have found myself craving similar things LOL, e.g. orange things (orange juice, orange icy poles) and then peppermint chocolate (I think it might have been Jen who said she couldn't stay away from Peppermint Freddos LOL).
I was actually up eating yoghurt at 5 am this morning too LOL and have just had yet ANOTHER feast of the delicious Lite Bix.
-
It's strange, maybe because I just had breakfast and still feel full from my milo, but I didn''t immediate cravings for any of that. Maybe it's an afternoon/night thing?
-
Yeah I'm not sure about that! I can honestly say I don't have the urge for peppermint chocolate right now....not craving anything right at this moment as I'm still feel from the Lite Bix feast LOL!!!
In terms of finding myself wanting things other people have mentioned, it seems to happen within a matter of days afterwards! I don't know if it's just a coincidence or not really!
-
Subliminal messaging.
*you want to go buy me chocolate cake, you want to go buy me chocolate cake, you want to go buy me chocolate cake*
Hehe, JK :D
-
Right now its...*make choc chip bikkies, you know you want too...*

Christy
-
OMG I have all the things here to make choc chip bikkies too and was going to do that last week but didn't get around to it!!! I'll simply HAVE to do that now!!!
-
*sits at tootie's table ready for choc chip bikkies* LOL
mmmm might have to make my jam ones :D
Love :smt049
-
LOL Kathryn - haven't got around to making them yet today as we had to go out this arvo, so it might be a job for tomorrow! Oh well....it means I just have to stick to the peppermint chocolate for now *sigh* ROFLMAO!!!
-
lol...about the bikkies....I started to make them yesterday too but I didn't have something...so I burst into tears & DH ran out to get it and by the time he got home I was asleep.....poor DH...I blame hormones....at least I hope so!!
