Diva - a DVD!!! Wow. Your thread was so funny LOL! I watched a birth dvd once & nearly passed out myself. DH said he thankful he wasnt a seahorse! If I was given the opportunity to watch an IVF DVD, I wouldnt. I dont want to know what they do to me. I just luv the "pre-med" drugs they give you before an operation. Did they show you that? I luv that!! I dont take drugs but I if I did, my choice of drug would be the "pre-med" hehehehe. I get so excited for an operation!!!! I luv that 3 second "fading out" before the big sleep, just dont tell me whats going to happen! Has DH left for the Krispy Kreme shop yet? Maybe while he's there you can get him to drop some boxes off to Brissy's Girl! She's not near a shop either.
Sonya - hoping all goes well for you this morning & you have a great phone call! Thinkin of ya hun!

Mine is canciled - my FS said that i have the biggest ovaries that he has ever seen.lol
Was told today that i have 6 blasties in the freezer and maybe a few more tomorrow!
Im ok with the choice that my DFS has made and didnt want to end up in hossy
So now just waiting for af and boy im ready for her.lol
it's funny how sometimes all you want is af!! hoping she makes a speedy appearance and you're feeling better soon Lou! ouchy on the huge ovaries though!!
TMI - but ive been feeling heaps better since ive opened my bowels!!!may have a little more room for the KK but DH ate it last night!!!as well as his own!!!

I am not sure if there is a procedure or orientation/hazing I need to experience first? *grin* But I have pure intentions and PLENTY of questions and stress. So.. please with lots of chocolate syrup could I join this area? :pray::pray:
Dh and I have been trying to conceive since late 2005, but it has only been in the last say 6ish months that I have really started charting, asking questions and paying attention to all those subtle changes. FF is actually making me a little paranoid, but that's a whole other issue..
Today is CD72! :help: My cycle has never been clockwork, but it sure wasn't creeping me out this much. So, climbing this high.. as you can imagine I am going a little squirrely..
I saw my doctor last night to check some blood results and the joker thought it was useful to tell me that I could wait for AF for over 6mths without worrying. HUH!?! Do you ever want to just shake someone till they rattle! I mean I was nervous enough, but then he thought it was useful to give me that lil tidbit. :doh:
I have been sent for *blood-tests and a HSG (don't ask me to spell or pronounce that word either :lol:) But.. my cycle is taking a break from AF (without my written permission!!) so I apparently can not take that test until things level out again. I have also been sent for pelvic ultrasounds. When I do see my doctor i spend much of my time trying to figure out what he is talking about.. (thick Indian accent).
What I am wondering is this: How has every/anyone else coped with having an evil extra long cycle? And should I consider forcing AF to rear her ugly head?? Or wait things out and continue to go mildly loopy??

was the doc last night a gp or gyne? i found my gyne triggered AF when tests and things needed to be done if i'd gone longer than the normal amount - maybe it's worth getting a referral...?

Traceylee - I'll pass the DVD your way if you want ... they show all the big needles and where they go (or go through! EEK!) and show you all of it via the ultrasound ... I honestly thought Dan was going to pass out ... then I almost did when they tried to down play it by saying something (which I won't say for fear of having the entire LTTTC thread running away). But it certainly had the desired effect, Dan now reckons that any guy even thinking of doing IVF with his lovely wife, even if they're not TTC anytime soon, should watch that video. He's now treating me like the goddess that I am ... not that he didn't before but he's certainly raised that pedestal just a little bit higher ... now I'm just trying to work out a way of making it last ... I don't think I can keep playing the DVD until bub's is 18 just to keep him in line!!! :cryinglaugh:
As much as I'd love the premeds and the anaesthetic they play merry hell with my body ... last time I was under I came out and had to be immediately admitted to hospital ... I was outclassing the exorcist in barf production!!! That's the bit that I'm going to hate more than anything ... I'm not a good girl under anaesthetic ... I always come out feeling like death warmed up ... :(
Mrs eeyore - I can only tell you my experience, when AF went MIA on me they made me wait more than six months before doing anything about it ... I didn't find her from January until September, and she only showed up 'cause the OB/GYN who was now treating me forced her to show up ... as for loopey ... I think by the end of it all I could have had a chain or rollercoaster rides I was that loopey ... but unfortunately there wasn't a gosh darn thing I could do about it, so waited I did ... that's the joys of LTTTC ... we wait and we wait and we WAIT!!! ;)
Oohh.. well then I try to remember to bring chocolate when I come visit this section :D:
Twas a gp - He refuses to refer me to a FS/gyne until I the results from the HSG come back. Which is kind of frustrating because I can not do the test until AF rears her ugly head again, which could be (according to super doc) six months.:
Heheh. I would really like to change doctors, but although there are four different doctor surgeries in the immediate area, they are all Indian doctors. And part of my frustration is the fact that because they have such thick accents i can not understand a word they say. Which when you are going in for a flu shot is one thing, but when I am trying to find out about my future fertility it can get a little *insert growl* Heheh.

Gosh its not up to your dr if you want to get a referal i would go in there and say i WANT A REFERAL -Even tell him what FS you want to see. doesnt he know it danger to mess with a hormonal women !!!!!

i can't work out why a gp would be ordering a hsg anyway? mine did the u/s and some bt's only...

But then it is entirely my own fault for waiting to ask questions and get these tests done! Heheh. I spent too long just assuming that my body was going to step up to the plate and do what nature intended. Now I have finally admitted that I need help I just want answers.. not more tests :P
Better just get used to feeling like a science experiment tho, i am only at the beginning of what may well be a very long road.. so the sooner I just accept that the poking/prodding is part of the journey the sooner i can get swollen ankles again.

Mrs_eeyore, we were all beginners once, so ask away - it's how the rest of us learned. The girls here are always happy to welcome newbies, and they are nice enough to tolerate the graduates who are still somewhat in denial continuing to hang around, too.
I also had AF disappear for long, long periods of time. Once I took provera, and it's something I'd really rather avoid doing again - turned me into some sort of raging, hormonal mega-b!tch! The second time my FS put me on the pill and once again I had issues with break-through bleeding that nearly had me hospitalised. Hopefully you won't have anything near as dramatic as that happen! I'd be demanding a referral to a specialist (and I'll say that an FS is much better than a gyn, make sure you get an expert!), and if that GP won't give you one, find one that will.

That is what i was expecting.. This guy is driving me a little mad!! I am not walking in there after TTC for 3weeks.. We have been TTC for quite sometime now, so we are looking for answers.. not "just going to send you for another blood test to check something else" He's sent me for bloods (which came back saying that i have not gone thru menopause yet.. DUR!!) asked hubby to do S.A and given me about an inch of requests for pelvic exams.:
He changes from telling me i have secondary infertility to forgetting which patient I am!
I have been pregnant previously, (many moons ago) but the assorted joys of mc and just plain nasty pipes put a end to those.. and he keeps thinking that I have children now. Inconsiderate, idiotic man! Look at your screen.. Figure out who i am.. THEN speak..
Does anyone know a good Gyno/doctor/fertility specialist around southern Brisbane or the Northern Gold coast area? I am getting pretty fed up with this bloke.. We have waiting this long to ask questions I just can't stand him buggering about any longer.

Hey Mrs Eeyore,welcome. I know a good fs on the Gold Coast his name is Dr Brian Mullins hes in behind the Pindara private hospital (pindara place). He's real good, i used to go there when i lived on the Gold Coast. Hope this helps you in some way.

Diva - You crack me up! No way do I want that DVD LOL! My DH would be pausing it through everything. He's a Nat Geo & Discovery Channel guy and into that stuff! Your DH sounds like a real gem. Hope he's coping ok. Its good to see you have maintained your sense of humour!

Me - Had our transfer this morning. Ohhhhh the pain of it. I have a real bad time with the cervix part and have since my second m/c. As I notice the "shoehorn" miss nurse tells me that if I had a full bladder, it moves the uterus away from the cervix & there is less pain??? What? I had just emptied it! Its a pity they dont put that down on the info before you get there. She was lovely though. My FS couldnt make it, something else came up so I was sick to my tummy when I got in there. Sweating, tense, crying the whole drama queen stuff. DH drove me insane with "Its OK." Its not ok, ohhhh the pain of it! He kept patting my shoulder and moving me & I was trying to stay so still. I was demonic! Yes, progesterone is kicking in!! Blastie had a little squiggly line on the side where it is ready to implant. Looks beautiful if I do say so myself. Now the TWW. 23rd July for BT. They are growing other 4 blasties until tomorrow as they seem to be a bit slow today. They will call me re: freezing. Going to rest for the next 24hrs & clear my thoughts & love my DH.
May this be the one we have waited years for!

Just wanted to pop in and wish you so much luck - i know about the cervix thing - never had a problem until i m/c then next icsi cycle after that with transfer they had to move my cervix to get thru not too pleasant i must admit - just relax for the next day or two and talk to your little embie - will be keeping an eye out for you. Sprinke of :bluedust:
transfer done. not too bad, just a bit uncomfy. sorry TL that yours was horrific. it will all be a distant memory soon.... my BT is fri 20, yay only 9 days.

Hi Ladies I have a question.
I am on the gonal f pen and was taking 150 dose and had my BT yesterday which revealed a reading of 287 which it should be around 500. So they have increased my dose to 225. The nurses feel that it should be ok and I wont need another BT to check they sadi just come in for your scan on Tues morn. has anyone else had this occur adn what were the results of the dose increase??

Just lost my whole post. Dont you just hate that ? well in answer to your Q blayz i have only ever over responde to all my meds even when on 150iu . I think once you have your scan you will and they will get a much better idea. Just give your clinic a call he you are starting to get any pain more than what you should !as you will get some 'growing pains'. I hope that helps and good luck hun.

Wow - I have just spent more than half an hour catching up on the old thread and the new thread. What great things have been happening - congrats on the transfers TraceyLee and Sonya - not long now till b/ts - good luck to you both!!

Krispy Kremes? Heard lots about them - seen them on TV - have NEVER had one! Maybe once I have lost 3 or 4 more kgs I might treat myself (currently 6kgs down in 5 weeks!) so not to far to go. I am worried that if I have one I will be hooked - I have heard they are like crack only worse ;)
We got a DVD from our clinic - it was very helpful and both DF and I have watched it several times. It really did help to relieve a lot of my concerns about the whole process, but for some I can understand it is best left as a mystery!
Rols - I agree with the other ladies - knowing that my DF is around for support when I need it, which is not always all of the time, because I can be a bit strong willed at times :rolleyes: which might have something to do with hormones... but being there for some appointments and even hanging around while I give myself the injections is all comforting and reassuring. Re the hot baths - my DF has a super hot shower twice a day and loves hot baths - I wonder if that could also be part of the reason for his dodgy morphology?
Well my AF finally arrived tonight - which ended up being a 32 day cycle for me which is probably not too bad considering I was on the Gonal-F injections for a few extra days. But it is a relief for it to finally be here. So I will call the nurses in the morning, organise a b/t and hopefully be snorting and injecting within the next day or so! How exciting not having to do a full down reg cycle! YAY!!
Anyway, this is getting very long. I wish I could send more personals - I have been busy reading but there is so much happening with everyone that I can't keep up! Take care all and will chat again soon.

Chez67 - Ooooooo are you doing a "flare" cycle??? If you are I'd lurve some details!!! I want to go flare first cab off the rank, but I've got a funny feeling they'll make me do a down reg first which means more waiting which I don't wanna!!! *pouts*

This time around i only had 9 days of intections then EPU, no spray no pill nothing just injections and felt it was much (nicer) if that word and IVF go together???? but i did suffer in the end but thats cause the does just needed a little twicking
i'm with you Lou - the cycle without synarel first was a much "nicer" experience - quicker, less stressful. much better!!! hoping you're feeling better soon hun
Chez - woo hoo on getting going again! that's great news hun. hopefully you'll be getting to another EPU really soon.
Diva - it's highly unlikely you'll get your first cycle without some sort of down-reg - the docs like to have complete control over your hormones when you're cycling, and they can only do that during down reg. sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear hun!
To throw a spanner in the works, my first ever cycle was a flare :). But I consistently got more eggs and more evenly matured eggs too when on down reg. So I guess the extra time was a trade off for better quality eggs. Just something to be optimistic about if you have to do a down reg, diva. :)

Yes I am doing a flare cycle. I only just found that out this morning from the nurses that that is what I should be calling it! Another term to add to my IVF list! I had my b/t this morning and now just waiting on the results to confirm that I can start, although I will have to go back into MIVF to pick up a script for the Gonal-F. My FS was talking about starting me on a dose of 450 straight up so hopefully I won't be on them for 17 days like I was last time :rolleyes: but if that is what has to happen to get a few good size follies then that will be fine. I am feeling so excited that we are starting again, although the cost is going to be a bit of downer, but hey that's life I guess! I don't have any idea about expected EPU dates yet, I guess it will depend on the result of my first scan? Or is it likely they will do b/ts first? So many questions now are popping into my head as I haven't done a flare before. Can anyone help out? Last time I started on the injections and did a follow up scan 7 days later and that was when they decided to increase my dose.
Mumof5 - sorry, I have lost track. Where are you up to in your cycle? So many people to keep track of now, and some in the TWW thread as well, how exciting!!

Lou - how are you feeling now hun? Has some of the pain and discomfort eased off a bit? I hope you are resting as much as possible and keeping your fluids up, even the powerade etc which I don't like but hey, better than an IV in hospital I guess :rolleyes: Take care of yourself - I am thinking of you.

loula - How are you darling??? Feeling a bit better? I do admit that's one of the reasons for wanting a "flare" cycle, whilst you feel it in the end, the journey's a much nicer/quicker one!!!
Sushee - Thanks for giving me some hope, something that's always desperately needed in the IVF game. It's always a trade off isn't it??? 2 day vs Blast, Flare vs Down Reg, they never make life easy for us do they???
Briggsy's girl - I fully understand the need for the down reg, I'm just praying like mad I won't need it. I suppose the main reason I'm hoping we can skip the down reg is because my hormones are flatlined anyways, six rounds of clomid have shown that ... I seem to have one of those really lazy reproductive systems, if there's not a drug in there making the hormones work then they're not going to do it themselves!!! That's why I'm hoping for a flare, 'cause can't see much of a point of being on the pill for three or so weeks when my hormones are flatlined anyways!!!
Chez67 - Oooooooo will you keep us informed of your cycle??? I'd really like to know how it goes and how much of a difference there is compared to the down reg. I hope this cycle works for you sweet and you're baby gazing before you know it!

Diva - i completely understand wanting to do a flare cycle - having done two failed down reg cycles, it's something i can definitely sympathise with!! my hormones are flatlined permanently as well, but i wasn't lucky enough to avoid the down reg until they proved it wouldn't work! oh well, experimentation is the name of the game, i guess!
Chez - i've done a flare cycle - and will be starting another soon. i was put on a higher dose of puregon, and went for a scan on day 7 - so i'm ghinkgin it's pretty much the same as what you're doing - good luck hun!

Lou, hope you are feeling better :)
We had our nurse appointment over the phone yesterday, she was lovely. Told us to call her if we have any questions and if she doesnt know the answer she will find it and call us back. Told us we could get books from the libraary sent to us and that we can also access the counsellors over the phone as well. She is going to call us back closer to our three month mark and see how close we are getting to heading down there. She said she is over at the theatres every day, so hopefully she will be able to catch up with us when we do go down.
DH is leaning towards driving the 1000klms instead of flying.. we just have to wait to see what will happen. FS#1 said we will go down the night before EPU, and stay for 3 nights, but the nurse yesterday said we will have to go there for our trigger shot and wait the 36 hours for EPU, which obviously means an extra couple of days accommodation! Nothing to stress about though, I'll sort it out :)

As you can see I am a newbie around here :)
My name is Kellie and my husband Ross and I have been TTC #1 for coming up two years now. I am currently on my third fresh IVF cycle, injecting 125iu of puregon and sniffing synarel like a tropper.
We are currently under the wonderful team at Fertility North in Joondalup WA, after being with Hollywood previously. We live in country WA so I am forever travelling back and forth for scans and appoitments.
Will hopefully be able to go back and read up on you all, and look forward to chatting to you all more.
