Swim nappies
Hi, just wondering if anyone has any fave brands / recommendations / brands to avoid for reusable swimming nappies?
I've had a quick look and like everything there just seems to be soooo much choice!
I got into pocket nappies through a friend and just dove straight in and bought a dozen of her brand - I'm not good with choice, I'm a Libran!!!
Cheers.

I stock Monkey Doodlez swim nappies (and currently on special..LOL). Can click my link downt he bottom of my sig :)
Theres also Mother Ease, Bambino Mio, Imse Vimse
Just to name a few :)
-
I am a cheap skate and got a pair from target $12 I think seems to work great we haven't had any accidents etc
-
I bought one from Kmart for about $10 and it does the job and loks cute too! My swimming teacher advised not to feed bub within 1 hour of going to the pool to avoid poo!!
-
I got a swim nappy from the Cancer Council shop. There's nothing fancy about them, just need to be able to catch poo, so are usually a better fit than normal little swimmers which are like undies.
-
Good to know ladies ;)
Oscar is starting swimming lessons in a few weeks so we'll be off to buy a swim nappy or two very shortly!!
-
We have a Monkey Doodlez. Its very cute! I also have another one from Big W (or maybe its Target?? Cant remember) and its good too.
-
Thanks all! And so quick to respond too, cheers!
Will refine my research - I would never have thought to check BigW etc...
I had seen Motherease and thought they looked good.
But the Monkeydoodlez do look amazingly gorgeous!!!
-
Tom wears the Monkey Doodlez and it is really cute. We've never had a poo while swimming ever with either boy *knocks on wood* so that has never been an issue. I got the Monkey Doodlez from Kim - she gives great service ;) .
-
Hamish wears the Splash About swim nappy and it's been great. It's kind of like wetsuit material and is a boy leg shape with nice fitted legs. The place he does his lessons at only use these and there were no accidents-- pretty amazing considering all the bubs were only 3-4 months when they first started. I'm just about to purchase another pair for his upcoming term. They are $20 and available from Darlings Downunder. Enjoy your swimming lessons-- we love ours!
-
I'll duck and run here  but I use disposable swim nappies (the Huggies ones). They're reusable (to a point) as long as they're not poohed in - I just rinse them under cold water when we get home from the pool and hang them on the line. I bought a single packet of the sposie swim nappies about 4 months ago, and we're still only about a third of the way through the packet, despite swimming lessons every week and swimming in my IL's pool every second day over Christmas. I figured it would be just as cost effective this way, as by the time we have outgrown the current packet, he would have outgrown a cloth swim nappy too.
-
krystal will be in lessons this year, si ill have to look onto swim nappies soon! thanks for the ideas!
-
I now also stock Bummis Swimmi's..and Monkey Doodlez are on clearence...so only a few left...just in time for the warmer weather
-
i'm also interested to hear what suggestions people have as I have been buying the disposable ones, but would like to buy a re-usable swimming nappy
-
We've got a pair of Zoggs which is one size. We've also got a pair of Splash About which is sized. Both work great although I have DS in the splash about one the most before he outgrows them.
-
Can I please ask all you experienced mummies  what is the smallest size swim nappy you can buy? Either disposable or reusable.....I would like to know as we do alot of swimming in summer and we want our baby to get into swimming from a young age.....
Or do young babies like 1mth-3mths just go in nude?!?!? (i'm talking about the beach not a pool LOL) thanks, i have no idea!
-
the smallest size in the huggies ones are 7kgs - not really sure what you'd do until they get to 7kgs - I'm sure in the ocean nude would be fine!
-
Ren i would go nudey bum in the ocean:leap:! let them run freee!
We put Myles in some huggies ones when he ws tiny and just rolled them down! Also you can get enee (i think?) ones which have a buckle you can tighten!
I know Myles would rather go naked;)
Good luck! xx
-
Renstar, our pair of Zoggs is sized as "3 months to 2 years". They are fully adjustable with velcro and press studs.
I reckon if you're going to the beach, go nudie :D
-
Thanks girls! Nude it will be :)
(until 3mths!) then I can get a pair of one of these you've mentioned.
-
OMG I was just looking at the Wee Wuns website at the Monkey Doodlez.... could they get any cuter???!?! I'm so going to buy a couple of these when bub is born!
Or should I get one now ;)
Kim - wish I'd been more organised and bought one off you!!

I love my Splashabout Swim Nappy. it is so cute. I like that it is a tight fit so I can see the tiny little baby bum.
I have also used Zoggs which I always found too generously sized for my slim tall little girl. Too much space at the leg openings. Same goes for the monkey doodles. I guess I should have downsized... well, she'll grow into them eventually.
For little bubbas, look around for adjustable swim nappies. They will last you longer. From memory, the Bummis ones are adjustable.
I took DD swimming from 4 months on in the smallest huggies disposables until i bought the reusable ones. if you plan to go swimming regularly, it would definitely be worth buying a reusable one as the Huggies ones aren't cheap.

We got the mother-ease one from eBubs for Angus. Works well and looks cute. Well they all look cute :P
-
I tend to think kids in the pool look pretty darn cute no matter what they're wearing :)
The smallest cloth swim nappy I've come across is the small in the Mother-ease range. They're fabulous and light weight with side snaps. Really snazzy fabric too.
-
actually, the splashabout one is even smaller, from 3-6kg. But it is not adjustable, so won't grow much with baby.
-
I'm not 100% happy with my mother ease, I got the right size weight large 14-18kg jack is 15.2kg not overly big at all but even on the largest clips it is very snug snug around legs :( oh well
-
I have a pair of bright bots which i bought from the cancer council. I bought them in a size 00 and my son is 14 months and still fits into them (just). They are great!
-
Rach75, every bub is different. some have small waists, other have chunky thighs. so weight alone isn't going to guarantee a good fit. it's always a good idea to try these things on before washing to make sure they fit. a different cut nappy might give you a better fit on the legs.
-
thats the thing he doesn't have huge thighs or a waist I did try them on before washign and it seemed ok...but when he wore it yesterday he had big marks on his leg and waist, and as I had to buy online I had to find a swim nappy that was big enough a lot didn't go bigger than 15-16kg
-
Rach75, that must be so annoying.
Diaperaps makes one that goes to 16.3kg.
And the Splashabout XL is 13-18 kg. The legs and waist on the Splashabout are on the snug side, too (to keep the poo in), but the bands are very wide and soft and don't tend to leave marks.
Imse Vimse make a SL nappy that is for 13kg+
Or you could use a Green Kids pocket nappy without the insert as a swimming nappy. They have velcro so should be able to adjust to your needs.
I guess it's really hard with swim nappies. They need to be pretty tight to keep everything inside, but obviously not too tight so they don't cut off the circulation (or get very uncomfortable).
-
I chose the mothers ease as they seemed to have a good rep might have a look at the other ones you have mentioned with a good 6 mths more of swimmng weather might be worth another pair :) thanks
-
I hope you'll have more luck next time around.
Just want to say: I have not tried the Diaperaps or Imse Vimse, so don't know how good or bad they are. I have the Greenkids Pocket, but am using it as a normal cloth nappy with insert, not a swim nappy.

I love the Happy Swimmers, and they're probably the cheapest ones around (under $15), but they're just like the Motherease swim nappies that cost $6 or $7 more.
You can get them from eBubs.com.au.
-
Hey, Miss-if-only, as far as I know, I don't think you're allowed to have that photo in your signature, although I have to say, it's very cute.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks Sasa, I didn't realise, have removed it :)

No worries, I made that mistake early on, too.
But now, for some reason, that link that admin had removed for you is back... probably a glitch in the system, might want to remove that, too.
