I thought I'd drop in again too.
It's been a while, but I've had plenty on my mind since my dad died. I'm feeling ok about it all now. I'm fairly calm and accepting where my siblings are both grieving and taking it hard. Anyway I'm here to talk life, not death.
Blake's doing really well. Growing fast and strong. He's rolled both ways now, back to front and front to back, but he'd rather just lie and kick and play. - loves his Kick 'n' Whirl these days, think he was way too young when I first tried it.
Still doesn't have teeth, and still won't sleep through the night. My milk is an ongoing issue. No matter what I do there's never "heaps" but there's enough - just. I guess it's not too much of an issue cause Blake's still gaining weight without a problem. Just don't want to have to formula feed him cause on the day of the funeral he had 3 bottles and was constipated for 4-5 days!
At the Child and Baby Expo in October they had a modelling/casting agency with a competition to have a portfolio done. Out of curiousity I entered Blake but didn't win. They called us Monday to see if we'd come in for an interview on Wednesday. They called us back today and said they'd like to take Blake on as a client. They think he's gorgeous and has a fabulous personality - like I don't know that!!! LOL Well DH and I will discuss it. I don't want to be a 'stage mum' and wont be, but he's such a cutie I'm happy to share him around. Check out the latest photo on his www. There's only one which I've loaded but it's a indication of my little spunk. To get the photos done is $400 so not cheap, but it could only be a fraction of what he might earn... might, nothing is for certain, it's that kinda game!
Anyway, enough of my waffle. While he's sleeping I'm going to express and also cook dinner. Who said a mummy's life is quiet!!!
School fete is Saturday night, so anyone who wants something to do with their kids, bring them to Boronia West PS's fete 4-8pm!!!
:)

Great to see you back Rachel. The latest photo of Blake is soooo adorable !!!

-
Wow this is weird, not many people now and I just scraped into June :D
Brooke-Take care of yourself missy :D Are you taking iron tablets?
Rachel-Wow that Blake has been taken on by and agency, that's wonderful, he definitely is gorgeous Bummer about the cost of the photos, but I would shop around if I were you, not all places charge you that much. Ben joined an agency for $165 including photos and he pays $8 a month to have his website maintained. I'm not sure if they take babies but others might and may not cost as much. Glad to hear that you are feeling ok about your dad now, that's very good to hear.
-
Well I'm still here, too! Find it hard to keep up with all the posts though.
Rachel, hope you're coping okay. I lost my dad in January so know what you're going through, it does get easier though.
Well, miss Makenzie is doing pretty well. She weighed 7kgs a couple of weeks ago. She's been rolling from back to tummy for a while but she can't go the opposite way - I always thought they learnt to roll tummy to back first. So she gets frustrated as she can't get herself back onto her back. She can almost sit on her own, too, which is good as she prefers to be sitting. I still have to be next to her as she still topples over a lot! Sleep wise she's doing okay - although she has been waking around 2-3am but I just ignore her and she goes back to sleep - she doesn't cry, she just wakes up and "talks". She's in the cot now in Riley's room, and Cooper's moved into a room of his own.
We tried her on solids the other day - just some farex but she wasn't impressed - I think it was a bit too thick. I gave her a lick of a gherkin/pickle yesterday - the look on her face was hilarious. Was tempted to do it again but thought I might give her a belly ache if I did LOL.
So how is everyone else doing? I will try and put some new pics up on the webpage as the ones on there are old now - have so many to choose from though! Will try and do that today.
Hope everyone is well
-
Hey girls,
Rach so good to see you back! Hope you are taking good care of yourself in these sad times. Blake is a stunner! Im sure he will make the money back in no time at all.
Brooke - im still taking Elevit vitamins as im always anemic! Are you taking a supplement? On the days that i forget i too feel like sh*t!
Bec - Hows Jonah going??
Lisa - good to see you chicky! ive been thinking of you and your clan lately. Glad to here all is well! WOW at miss m sitting - thats impressive!
Well Hendrix loves loves loves pears! He would have eaten the whole lot yesterday but i knew we have to take it easy as there is no rush! As soon as the spoon goes near his face he opens up his mouth so wide and never wastes a drop. He definately takes after his daddy in the food domain - DH loves his food too! hehe
-
Heather-Jonah is really good thanks, getting much bigger. Sounds like Hendy is going great guns too. Great to hear that he loves pears :D
-
Brooke-Glad to hear that you are taking care of yourself. I feel tired a bit too, it's probably just the fact the we have wee bubba's :D Jonah is very good thanks, how's Maya? She's so adorable :D
-
Brooke - I am really tired at the moment too (more so than is normal looking after 3 kids). I get enough hours of sleep, yet I wake up and feel exhausted, and feel if given the chance I could easily just stay in bed all day and sleep. I think sometimes it's a cumulative effect of broken sleep.
Miss M is not sleeping much today. She has a bit of a snotty nose so think she's feeling yucky. I want her to sleep lots today as I have like a billion pages of things to print out and I'm finding it hard to concentrate with just Riley nagging me all the time, let alone with Miss M being cranky. Another hour or so and it's time to pick up Cooper from school so that will be the end of me doing any work anyway lol.
-
Just updated missy's webpage with lots of new pics!
-
Just wondered what sort of routine everyone has for bubs? Do they have reasonably predictable feeding patterns, sleep patterns etc?
Makenzie doesn't really have a routine - she doesn't have her own and I don't follow one really - it's more of a case of fitting in her things with the rest of the family - ie she gets a bath different times each day, depending on when I can fit it in. Probably because she's a real water baby and LOVES her bath, it's not a case of a quick wash and then she's out again - she stays in it till the water gets too cold! Her feeding is all over the place. She still has a late bottle which we try and time to be around 10pm but that doesn't always work. Last night she had a bottle at 9.30pm and slept till 8am..well, she was awake a bit before that I think and the boys were both up early so I just ignored her in her cot and stayed in bed lol! She doesn't cry when she wakes in the morning which is good - if she was crying I'd get up to her straight away. She didn't wake last night at all, either, so don't know what was going on with those few nights of her waking - the night before last she woke at 1am, 3.30am and 5am but I didn't get up to her as she was just awake - not crying.
Haven't tried her on anymore solids yet - probably as I know she doesn't "need" it as such. Might try her on some fruit instead of farex, although they say to go the savoury stuff first (pumpkin, potato etc) otherwise they can get a preference to sweet stuff.
Anyway, best be off and pack the baby bag - my SIL had her baby this morning so we're off to visit this arvo. DH has already been as SIL already has a daughter who is 15, who was going to be at the birth but changed her mind - so DH picked her up and brought her back here and then took her out to the hospital as soon as the baby was born.
The spooky thing is, all through her pregnancy I was convinced she was going to have a boy - then last night I had a really vivid dream she had a girl that had really thick, dark hair. When MIL rang from the hospital to say things were happening, I was telling Dh "Tell her my dream, tell her my dream" like she just HAD to be told. Anyway, MIL rings back and says the baby is born and my dream was right - a girl with thick, dark hair! *insert Twilight Zone music here*.
Okay, better go, this has turned into a marathon post (like the "old" days LOL)
-
Hi Guys!
Well its incredibly quiet in here compared to July thread!!
Lisa - on the routine front we dont really have a routine, we try to, but mike and i are a little hectic and end up dragging hendy all over town. We have a nightime routine though of feed bath, massage and feed then bed but other than that i try to follow hendy's sleepy signs and put him down and try for him to sleep for at least 1.5 hours (doesnt work most of the time though!!)
Hendy also loves his bath! He splashes himself and thinks its so funny! Its definatley his favourite time of day! He also loves the shower.
Well we have someone inspecting our house today (we are selling) so ive gotta go tidy the rest up!
-
Hi girls,
Lisa - Routine? What's a routine! The only thing that's a constant is the school drop off and pick up each day. Baths are whenever we can fit it in, feeding is generally every 4 hours but depending on when he sleeps/wakes from night and how he sleeps during the day... who knows. He gets plenty of floor time, plenty of tummy time - although that's not an issue now he's rolling. He's just about to start rolling across the room as he can roll back to front and front to back. Here comes more vaccuuming to keep the floor spotless.
Anyway gotta go hang out washing. Want to do this before I head up to school - think I might walk up cause Blake's having a mega sleep - well he's up to 1.5 hours compared to the napping he had in and out of the car this morning. Poor boy, Mummy had to go to the dentist so he got little sleep :(
Blake has started on farex as he was constantly watching me eat and drink. He loves it. Forces my hand into is mouth so he gets it there quicker! Piggy! LOL Will try some pumpkin or something next. Got a tin of apple and one of pear for him to try but should do the savoury first as you said Lisa.
Hi to everyone! wish I had time to type more.
Keep :D
-
Hi Kate :smt039 We are both very well thanks. I took Jonah to have his Santa pic the other day and it is so great, he has the biggest smile on his face. I will try and put it on his site so you can see :D
-
Awwww thanks Kate. Yes, is quite a fancy chair, we had it done at Fountain Gate, not too pricey either which was good :D
-
oh oh oh!! I thought these threads weren't starting till next month, I've missed out on heaps....
Hopefully I can keep up with it now
Hope you and your gorgeous bubs are doing really well...
-
Oh Brooke #-o sounds like you've had a run of bad luck. Ewwwwwww at the spiders, glad Maya wasn't bitten. I hate spiders too, yuck.
-
wow Brooke, you just arent supposed to have a phone at the moment are you!!!
Coby slept for 3 hours today in the middle of the day - YAY - couldn't believe it, he's so different when he gets enough sleep, such a delight!!!
How are all your bubs going?
-
Hey guys
Must be a day of sleep and happiness! Hendy slept right through last night without one wake up which was lovely. Then he had a two hour sleep today as well as two other short ones. Very very happy mummy!
Brooke - PMSL @ you with the phone in your boobies! hehe you silly duffer.
xx
-
Wow, lots to catch up on with all of you and your babies! Trying to think what has been happening here.
Maggie kind of has her own routine. Of a morning she is "Angelbaby" she sleeps lots and goes to sleep quite easily of a morning. After midday she becomes "hellbaby" difficult to settle and very difficult to feed. Evenings she begins to settle down. I feed her when she seems to want to be fed, which has become difficult as she behaves like she wants to be fed, but then refuses the breast. She is constantly changing her preferred position. As for a nighttime routine, we don't have one, I am so slack at implementing one. I should really give it another go.
We have been taking Maggie to an Osteo. Her reflux has really improved and it has helped her original bout of breast refusal, but she is still fussy. Have had to stop for the moment due to finances.
Maggie seems to have a constant blocked nose and it is interfering with her sleep at night. Last night I had her in bed and she would not stop feeding, so I got her up and put some drops in her nose. This cleared the blockage and she went straight to sleep. Not sure why a blocked nose makes her want to feed. Anyway does anyone have any ideas on how to keep her nose unblocked?
Started solids yesterday. It looks as though she is almost ready, she has been really interested in watching us eat for ages and has been mimicking us. She seemed to enjoy it but not love it, she did not eat much, only a couple of teaspoons of rice cereal. Will try it again today and see how she goes. If she doesn't take a bit more I will leave it for a week and see how she goes then.

any of you lovelies live near Southport in QLD? I need to find some cheap accommodation for one or two nights there. My friend who I went to school with is in labour as I type this and she is at Gold Coast Hospital, so I am thinking about flying up to visit her once the baby is ok (like in the next few days) so if anyone has some cheap accommodation that they know of, please let me know (just a crappy motel on the side of the road will do)
Thanks heaps!! :D
-
Hi again everyone,
Bel, firstly sorry I haven't sent to pattern yet. I just realised when I saw your name in the thread. Doh! ](*,) What a bad BB Buddy. Will get it done today.
Blake slept through again last night - hasn't dont this for months - well nearly 2! Now that my milk is back to normal (do I have a normal?) after all the stress of Dad's death, and now that Blake's having food I think he's a happier boy. Hopefully he's sleep well again tonight.
Brooke! Oops, what a troublesome time you've had with your phones and the spider! Apart from dropping it, I think it's a great way to talk on the phone - down the bra between the boozies! LOL. I know when I'm hanging out washing I take the phone with me to get 10 mins or so to chat. You have to be able to multi-task... it's just part of being a woman!
Not much other news. Still haven't decided on whether to sign Blake up with the agency. I don't want to stuff up his routine by having to take him out all the time. we only really went in to meet them out of curiousity, not to get him signed up. I'm flattered they want him but.... I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Stuff to do... have a great afternoon.
xx

Hey gals
Well it must be a week of accidents except that mine this morning was a little more major than brookes oopsie! I crashed the car! Never had an accident before and this morning i scratched the whole of the side of the car on a parked car ](*,) ](*,) ](*,). Thank goodness I didnt have Hendy in the car he was at home with mike. God i feel like an utter idiot. BIG F@#k UP.
Rach - good to hear from you matey! I think that you should do with Blake what you feel. Maybe if you sign him up you can do a job here and there or be a bit choosie of the work you choose for him. I thought about signing up Hendy but we cant afford the 400 or so dollars they quoted us!
-
OMG Heather, you poor thing, glad to hear it wasn't a really bad one and that you weren't hurt. Bet you were still shaken up though. Don't beat yourself up too badly though, these things happen unfortunately.
Kate- What an odd dream you had, maybe it was a premonition, maybe there will be a Bellybelly camp or something :D
-
hey Rach, I think I would be really flattered if I was asked to do that with Coby, just go with your gut and like someone else said, just pick and choose!! Glad that Blake is sleeping better again!!
Heather, wow, glad you're ok, I have done something similar to that when I was on my fertility treatment, I just didn't have my mind on the job, but I hit a pole in a shopping centre. Felt like a stupid "woman driver".
Just found out my friend had her baby yesterday at 3.30pm, a little girl - Olivia 3.45kg 53cm. I can't wait to go up and see them.....
-
Oh guys thanks for your kind words. Im fine just feeling as bel perfectly described as a stupid women driver!! Although today im feeling a little apprehesive about driving.
Kate - i feel so special to have been in your dream! I hope you are preggers and im the first to know hehe!! I wish i wasnt a dream and that we really could hang out!
Bel - congrats to your friend for the birth of her baby girl.
-
Hey Kate - if you go to amazon and search for the book you can click on it and preview a few pages. In this it shows you the calender for every leap the book discusses. I dont have my book on me as a friend is borrowing it.
xx
-
Hi guys,
Heather - sorry to hear about your accident. I get so upset whenever I have an accident - luckily I've never had a major one - I've taken side mirrors off parked cars a couple of times though! Makes you very shaky though when you have to drive again though. But don't worry, it happens to us all at some stage.
Well I'm stressed out today. Poor Kenzie has eczema (I think it's eczema). She has it mostly on her chest and when she had her needles last, it wasn't too bad and the GP just said to use a cortisone 1% cream on it. Anyway, it's flared up in the last few days and it's soooooooo bad now. I'll have to take her to the doctors tomorrow. I've been using Sigmacort on it, I bought Dermaveen cream that I've been putting on it as well, and bought QV bath oil and also bath wash. I feel so bad because she is obviously itchy because as soon as I take her clothes off to put the cream on her hand is on her chest scratching it. She is not on solids yet so it's obviously not food allergy - all she's had was one mouthful of plain rice cereal a couple of weeks ago, yesterday she had some banana, but other than that she's just been having her formula. It's so weird as the boys never had eczema, and no-one in either family has it either.
Anyway, that's my little vent, hope everyone is well.
-
Geez where is everyone today?? Its a very lonely place with no one to talk to!
-
Heather - A lot of the forums are quite slow with not many regulars, May is quite busy you can always pop on over if you like, I`m always interested to know how you and Hendy are getting on and I want to thank you for the lovely message you left me in the pregnancy announcement forums, I got very emotional reading it :flower:
-
I"m about today, but Maggie is being a bit high maintenance and I am not getting to much oppurtunity to post, every time I start she wakes up.
Maggie has developed a strange rash on her bottom. It is not thrush and it is not normal nappy rash as I always use a cream on her. The doctor looked at it and has prescribed Sigmacort cream, but that is not doing much. The rash is between her butt cheeks and on the edges of her girlie bits (not sure what the preferred term is in this forum). Anyone else had this?
Astrid
-
hang on hang on....
Dee, you're pregnant again CONGRATULATIONS HONEY!!
That's wonderful news. Were you trying or just happened??
Well done, you will be very busy come July next year!!
Fingers crossed it happens for me soon too........
-
where is everyone? Its awfully quiet in here lately.....
-
Oh yay Brooke, that's so exciting! Will give you congrats when it happens I guess :D I hope you don't have to wait too long, and of course we expect full details of the moment :)
-
Brookey - congrats on the soon to be engagement. I hope Dan proposes to you in a lovely way. Maggie loves the Jolly Jumper as well. We set her up with her activity table and she loves bouncing and hitting the buttons.
Having trouble getting motivated here. I should be doing housework, but it is the first time in ages I have not had DH in the house during the day (he was on night shift) and I am enjoying the peace and quiet and not having someone hogging the couch.
Astrid
-
Wow Brooke that's fantastic news - no congrats yet though, will wait for the BIG announcement, but how exciting hey!!
Yeah we use Huggies, we tried Snugglers a few times and while they were ok during the day a few months ago when Coby was tiny, they aren't now and I find that his little wizza gets a bit red cause its been sitting in wee (even though we change him quite frequently). They just aren't as absorbent as Huggies - they really are the best aren't they. Its just a shame that they cost so bloody much!!
We wait until we see them on sale and buy up big. They were on sale a couple of weeks ago at BIG W for $29 a box (usually $39 I think) and we bought 4 boxes of his size (6-11kg - crawlers) and a box of the next size up (walkers), we seriously ended up getting a box and a bit for free I think, it worked out really well...
Hey all, just another quick question, how much are your bubs weighing now at around 5-6 months? Just want to know if Coby is going ok? Clinic nurse says yes, but because he was a month early he's smaller than most babies and I just want to know what ballpark he's in...
-
YAY some chatting in our thread!
Brooke -(although ive already said) So happy for you and Dan!! Cant wait to hear how he proposes.
We only use huggies also. Ive never tried any other and was tempted but now that ive heard this discussion im sticking with them even though they are dear. Hendrix slept in one for 12.5 hours last night without being changed and when i changed it this morning it was so heavy but he wasnt wet or red at all.
Bel - Hendrix weighed 7.4kg at 5 months. Hope that helps. How much is Coby??
-
Hi all,
Brooke - YAY! Non-congratulations! LOL.
Isn't it funny when you give them their first tastes of food! Kenzie had a mouthful of rice-cereal a couple of weeks ago - it was a full family event - DH, me and the boys all watching. The other day she had some banana mashed up with a bit of boiled water - she made faces but still ate it all. It tells you on the box of rice-cereal how to prepare it and how much to give etc. Don't worry Brooke, I still don't remember what to do half the time!
We only use Huggies. I did try other brands back when Cooper was a baby but always ended up going back to Huggies. They are expensive, especially when I've got a 3 year old in Pull-Ups and also a 6 year old who still wets the bed at night so wears pull-ups to bed!
Belinda - Kenzie was 7kgs about a month ago when she went and got her needles, I think she was about 4.5 months old or something. I've learnt after stressing about my first child's weight as a baby (he was on solids at 11 weeks coz he wasn't gaining weight as he should) that it's just an added stress. As long as they are developing normally and aren't overly lethargic etc, it's usually not a problem. Mothers tend to know if something is "not right".
Congrats Deejoy on the pregnancy! Woo hoo! Cooper keeps asking if we can have another baby! It was funny, he asked me again a couple of days ago and I said "No, mummy's finished having babies" and he said "Well why do we have 8 chairs then?" (we have an 8-seat dining table) and then he adds "Dad told me it was for the other 3 kids". DH would have 10 kids if given the chance I think LOL.
I took Makenzie to the doctors yesterday about her eczema - she can use that cortisone cream up to 4 times a day, for 10 days on, 4 days off, as long term use. I was only using it 2 times a day at most coz I was a bit worried about it, but my GP said it's fine to use 4 times a day. The eczema does look better than it did. I also have to be careful with things like making sure her clothing is all cotton, sheets etc, what I wash her clothes in etc. The good thing is she'll eventually grow out of it, and the GP said how her skin is now is the worst it will be, as babies skin is so sensitive so as she gets older and her skin thickens and is more resistent, it won't be as bad.
Anyway, hope everyone is well. I better go as Riley has his speech appointment at 10.30am and it's now 9.50am and I am still in my pyjamas and so is he!

Hey girls, thanks for all the weights of your bubs, Im not concerned about Coby's weight, he's a little chunker - but was just interested in what was "the norm" considering he'll never be the norm because he was early....
Just making comparisons that's all.
Thanks heaps.
I get Coby weighed tomorrow, last time he was weighed he was 5.6kg, that was a month ago, so it will be interesting to see how much he's grown in a month especially now that he's eating lots of solids.
Have any of you guys tried the Heinz cereal range? There is Apply and Blackcurrant Muesli, Apple and Oatmeal, and Apple and Banana Cereal. Coby absolutely loves all of them - just thought I'd pass that on if any of you are interested in trying them and wanted another bubs opinion tee he he :eat:
