PP - we should have a meet up with our husbands...cos mine is fine with using them.. perhaps another man's gentle persuasion in his ear might work??
WOHB: motherease with PUL cover
-
Me first me first yay!!!
:)
oh poo mel beat me lol
Nah i think he was just a foul mood as i worked all weekend and he had to look after the baby, and still expected me to have everything done i do on a daily basis long distance from work... i tell you.. i am over being the 6 month pregnant wife who cooks, cleans, irons, shops, runs errands, washes, looks after the baby, works a phsyical job (constantly on my feet), hasnt had a girls night out on her own in 13 months!, and when i get home from work get in trouble for there not being enough clothes dry (although they are washed but i am supposed to hang them from work!!!) and its my fault nappies leak, the fridge breaks and everything else is the world doesnt function right! rahhh
lol ok now that is out of my system... about MCN's lol
Did anyone get anything at the bubblebums sale?
-
Pink- did you mean bubblebubs??? lol
hey did any one who ordered cute tooshies get their order yet??? Im hanging out for some fitted nappies.... i only have two and i have 4 longies that need wearing
-

PP and ness not i didnt get anything at BB sale!!
anyone have an opinion on kissaluv for newborns? and how many motherease rikki covers should i get? SEZ,NELLE....
-
OOOppps, realised I have the addy of the sale!!!
Hey Gudi - have you got the DD newsletter? Starbunz pockets are in ;)
PP *hugs* I don't buy sposies now. If DH wants to use them, he can buy them out of his money - he doesn't know the PIN for the household account ;)
Mo - good to see the glass is the right shape, DH & I were wondering if it was u/s or ?? to see it. If her little bottom is sore, maybe call the MCHN line (nurse on-call etc) and see if haemmorroid gel is OK for her age? It has a mild aneasthetic in it. Otherwise maybe some nappy-free time?
Good luck tomorrow.
Us - well, Pips seeming better. Eating, thank goodness.
woHB - Haute Pocket stuffed with bamboo. Soon to be snoozywun.
-
Kaz - DD? Is that darlings downunder? What are Starbunz? I've just been looking at the minky green kids.. they are purdy... I like the giraffe ones.. lol
WOHB: Soon to be experimental Greenkids with lots of bamboo in the pocket, plus a flat and a wool cover.. LOL.. I'm chuckin everything on this kid...
-
Kaz they saw it with an X-Ray, they didn't think they would see anything since it's glass, but the glass was pretty thick.
I'll try take some pics of it.
We found some BPA free bottles so they should be arriving this week, Until then I'll have to grab the bottle off her the second she is done with it.
I'll ask around tomorrow if her bottom isn't better, the bepanthen seemed to help.
May try some prune juice tomorrow to loosen things up a little bit for her.
M crashed at 5:30 today, she must be so exhusted after everything she never goes to bed this early.
Ali congrats on the Job.
PP-Some people just don't seem to get it, My MIL is alot like that she thinks they are a waste of money. $30 for one nappy when you can buy a box for $40. I give up trying to explain at least her partner gets the idea of it!
-
Trinity
So sorry to hear about the scary experience you had with the glass.
HOnestly though, try the brown sugar trick. it works wonders and has been a remedy for decades! :)
Thanks for everyones supportive words:) i have given up trying to explain the cloths.. i love using them and to be honest i am the one that changes most of them! :)
lol and yes bubblebubs lol.... although DD has a bubblebum with her night time getup! lol
hugs!
-
Thanks girls!
Got all my nappies washed today! only got about 2 dry and clean atm, which is fine since they will be at CC all week.
WOTB: sposies, the night clothies are hanging out to dry.
-
Ooooh Ooooh....
Mummy is teahcing me well - Alexander in love with Minkee & IB already! :p
(gotta occupy the kid somehow while I eat - because he wakes never fail when I'm eating)
WOAB: Soon to be boosted IB.
-
Well girls, i still have 3 mandy mac's brand new left from my impulse buy :(
please Pm if you are interested at all :)
-
Ali - congrats on the job. Hope you enjoy it!
Someone responded to my request for cloth wipes solutions (can't remember who and it's in the old thread so too lazy to look it up!) - you suggested warm water. Do you carry a bucket around with you every time you change a nappy? I don't have taps in his bedroom! A bit confused here! Please simplify for a simpleton (like me!)...
WOHB - bamboo prefold, microfibre liner + Motherease Rikki cover (he's in in his long sleep so we'll see how it holds up! - usually 5-6 hrs. Been in it for 4 hours now...)
-
Pink Palace
i found good info on the nurturenappies site e.g i printed out the page on exactly what is in a disposable nappy (stuff that is in car batteries!!! etc) - and i keep that in my nappy bag - to show people.
I just don't have the energy to verbally stoush, so i have my printouts.
sympthathies to you with your dh, some people take a while to come round (but when they do, they can surprise you).
ALIOOPS - congrats on the job, that's fantastic!!
GUDISM - what you're doing with experimental nappies, (for night?) - it's a good idea, but if you understood the layers better, you might get better results.
regardless of what nappies you use, the order of the fabrics is important.
e.g you mention (from memory) stuffing a greenkids PUL pocket, then a flat over that, then a wool cover.
straight off. You need all the waterproofing on the OUTER. If you have the greenkids PUL pocket on UNDER the flat, you will be defeating your purpose.
SO i would suggest you rethink the ORDER of the fabric layers
what you need for MCN to work at night
starting from babies bottom
- next is the stay dry layer (microfleece or suedecloth inner or lay in liner)
- absorbent fabric (e/g the bamboo you stuff the pockets with, the terry flat etc)
- waterproof outer (e.g the PUL, the wool, the polar fleece).
so doing all these combos out of what you have around is fine, but you need to consider the ORDER of them.
what you're trying to do, i think might work easier if you start off using a FITTED nappy, not a pocket, cos the fitted nappy will be made of all absorbent fabric, so no waterproof outer.
If you don't have any fitted nappies, then use flats, inserts, trifolds, anything made out of absorbent fabrics.
if you're going to use two waterproof items, make sure both are on the very outer of your combo.
I'm pretty tired so just blurted all that out, too stuffed to read it again ( to make sure it's diplomatic, tactful etc), i will just hope that you know i write the info from a good place, wanting to help you or anyone else i possibly can, and if i write a bit too blunt, my apologies in advance.
really and truely, i would just love to be able to buy you, send you, make you a nice half dozen night nappy options, so you wouldn't even have to hassle about this. Ah dear, in my dreams, i am rich and spend my days being a MCN philanthropist!!!
LOL
WOTBB: lotus night nappy and lavender bumjumper under cotton sleeping bag
DH is interstate tonight, one week alone with the bilbs - hmmm. i am such a wuss.
Oh Trinity, i am SO GLAD your DD passed the glass without needing operation - what a close call! Gripe water (woolworths $6) gets bilby to go to the toilet within 5 mins of having her dose).
-
Gigi - as usual a wealth of information!!! I knew that I had the order wrong, but I was kinda limited for options, and figured that HOPEFULLY the GK stuffed with all the stuff would work, but just incase, chucked over a flat, so if there are any leaks, they will be minimal on the sheets. That was my thinking anyway. I think I put the wool cover on him cos I mainly wanted to try it out (it has a monkey on its butt.. haha) and it was to keep the flat in place.
So I totally understand where you are coming from with the layers, but didn't have any fitteds left (I used all of them today - doh!!) and thought if I used a pocket (specially a GK cos easier to stuff more crap into them) than using an AIO - then use flat just for added protection, then I should be like, doubling my insurance if you know what I mean? LOL
I'm tired... need sleep I think.. I don't think I'm making any sense at all... lol
-
On the whole night nappies thing - what's the rule there?
Do you have to buy a specialised night nappy (if so, where are they??) or can you just use inserts to boost a regular MCN? How much boosting does it need to have to be a night nappy?
Still learning here...
-
Nettie - re: the water thing - I just keep a squirt bottle of water on the change table and use that. Except now it contains chamomile tea since he had NR. It's room temp, not warm, but then, we're in Nth Qld so room temp is not shrivellingly cold like it is in southern states. But then when we were in Melbourne last month I didn't use warm water - Euan looked a bit perturbed the first couple of times but was fine after that - yeah I know, I'm a cruel, cruel mummy. If you are really worried about it, why not put hot water in a Thermos each morning and keep it by the change table - it should stay warm most of the day and will save you carting around a bucket.
Or, pre-wet cloth wipes and store them in an ice-cream container or something.
Oh, and a night nappy can have around twelve or more layers of (usually) bamboo. It depends on how heavy a wetter your bub is as to whether you'll need them. You can boost a normal nappy, but may have problems with leg gape or insufficient rise. Some specific night nappies are: Wild Child Dreamy Nights, Sandman, Lotus, Snoozywuns, Whizz Kids, um, there are others too.
Gigi - good luck being DH-less for a week my lovely. I can understand your trepidation seeing the Bilbster is clingy following your hospy stay.
PP - you don't want to hear about my DP having an actual conversation about nappies today. Not just that, but he was giving advice!!!
WOHB: boosted to high heaven Cute Tooshies and Bearbottoms MM cover
-
Nettie I take my wipes with me to the sink & put very warm water on them on our way to change the nappy. By the time I'm ready they are lukewarm. Thats what I do... sometimes I use disposable wipes, but I don't like the chemicals on her bum.
Night Nappies... I'm so not a good one to ask, I use Baby Behind Bamboo with a trifolded bamboo booster & a wool soaker or longies. I have 6 BBB's and if DH forgets (??? we've only been doing this for a year ) than she gets a disposable. If she has any signs of NR she gets a sposie.
Gigi- you are NOT a wuss... I can barely handle 2 days without DH, so I feel you. I do really well for a day, than the next night when I usually would get a break I start getting cranky & snapy.
PP.... I'll see. I'm not sure, I am on an imposed ban from purchasing MCN's atm, we are moving, no money, and JJ is thinking about TT.
-
lol gigi - i have visions of you on the street handing out information to passers by about cloths vs sposies! hahah!!!! great idea though!
netti - i am not yet using a night nappy as the BBB + booster seems ok for DD as the moment over night.
Christy - i understand lol.... just thought i would try one more time hehe!
-
Well the GK stuffed worked great... I don't even think he wet much overnight, probably cos he's sick and isn't drinking as much as I would like him too!!!! I would have been fine to just have the GK and the boosters, didn't need the flat or the wool.. but hell he looked cute with that huge tooshie!! LOL
WOHB: Mandy Mac & Maz cover (was a sugarpeas fitted, but he flooded that with the morning pee....yes... just ONE pee)
-
you girls talk to much

-
I got called into work Saturday........did my last shift Yeah.
Went to the markets yesterday morning and did the groceries then about 2 yesterday afternoon I started vommitting, had direah and a massive migriane, everytime I took painkillers or drank water I threw up. Thank god DH didnt have to work last night, however I just drifted off to sleep at 11pm when he comes and wakes me to say Cooper has no Sposies.....I let him have it told him I said when they were gone that was it, use cloth, suprise wake up this morning he had a bbb on him and wool cover(and he says he doesnt know what to do). Have about 3 nappies left though so have the in the machine and will have to put the fitted throught the dryer.
Am still waiting on my cushie tooshies and my BB Aio's.
Whob....A cheapie ebay buy.
-
Holy crap Mo. Glad all is ok. Man. That must be three things. Surely it's your turn for some good luck now.

Gigi- Good to know about gripe water. I wonder what's in it?

Just a quick post, M is fine no more glass & her belly is fine so no damage was done.
Also put some pics in the gallery, not the best of quality but you get the idea.
Ange it has to be my turn to have some good things happen!

Great news trinity!
Gud - bugger on the baby staying put lol... maybe if you stop eating the chocolate she will have withdrawls and come out quicker so she can eat some hehe

Mo, Fantastic! If she keeps having issues with poo, try this. Sarah always had trouble with poo so we put brown sugar in 1 bottle every day, and when she was really bad we gave her Coloxyl drops
Gigi, I know how you feel hun! I am starting to get used to being on my own but I still prefer it when DH is home. If you need adult conversation, feel free to call me.
