Smells...
As you all know, when you are pregnant, things smell different - some smells you can't bear and some you love. Soooo... what smells do you like / dislike?
Okay I am going to come out of my comfort zone here LOL! This is reeeeeally bizarre but anyway I will say it. We've totally retiled our ensuite shower since deciding to sell the house and everytime I have a shower, I love the smell 8-[ I don't know if it is the grout, which I think it might be, but I dunno - I just like it LMAO.
I've had some issues with fragrant flowers - very nice but I can smell it for days when I buy them, just like they are right under my nose!!! Eck!!
-
OK, a smell that I can't stand at the moment is my MIL!! LOL. I don't know what it is but at the moment she stinks too me (sorry) and we live with her at the moment which doesn't help. :? Also some foods smell way too strong at the moment, oohh and Nicholas's nappies!! LOL
Smells that I love at the moment are Rob's deodorant, weird I know and anything vanilla!!

Hmmmm smells aren't really getting to me that much. But having said that I looooove the smell of coffee. Can't stand to drink it, even normally, but usually I like the smell - now can't get enough of it! I think everyone is loving it at work cos I am always offering to make the coffees LOL
-
LMAO @ MIL Kazz!!!
I agree with the coffee too Sarah, don't drink it but love the smell. :D
-
I am totally opposite to you, Sarah and Kelly, I can't stand the smell of coffee at the moment. I love drinking it normally but not now. I have to try and hold my breathe when I go past Gloria Jeans or Starbucks. I was the same with Nicholas too, although it would make me throw up with him, but fortunately not this time.

For me it is Cat food
we have 2 cats at home and I have always had the job of feeding the cats morning and night But I have found that throughout my pregnancy the smell of catfood makes me sick... so now my Fiance has the job of feeding that cats and he hates doing it ... I compromise by saying at least it won't be as bad as changing nappies LOL
-
Same as Sarah and Kelly - Love the smell of coffee but can't stand to drink it ATM.
-
I am loving both the smell and taste of coffee at the moment! I have to be careful I don't drink too much!
For some reason I also like the smell of rubber, but the smell of Harry's shampoo makes me feel nauseous, and the smell of my perfume is funny to me now

I have just noticed that my sense of smell is stronger than usual. Especially when the girls at work go out for a ciggie, usually I can't smell the smoke on them unless I am right next to them, now it just seems that I smell it wherever they come back - yuk, sorry smokers but the smell is just really offensive to me now.
Also alcohol - the smell is really strong.
I love the smell of coffee all the time and still do!
-
I can't remember what smells I loved during pregnancy, but I remember I HATED the smell of meat cooking when I was pregnant it was the biggest EW ever! And I feel really dumb for saying this...but Kel, I never knew you had an ensuite...HOW BIZARRE! LOL!
*hugs*

I'm with you on this one Cailin, I could not stand meat being cooked, and I couldn't stand fried food. I almost threw up walking past a fish & chip shop once! YUCK!

Well being a vegetarian, I have to say I love the smell of meat pies!! And Coffee (never a drinker). I had massive cravings for pumkin soup when IU was 6-7 weeks now the smell makes me want to heave!! I Hate the smell of onion and garlic and don't like to eat garlic much now seems make my nausea worse for hours. Also I cant stan the smell of Wato sometimes :-$ !! Hes a smoker so that puts me off, sometimes his feet smell, but sometimes he just smells!! As you can tell my libido is at an all time LOW!!! lol.
No doubt I 'll be adding to this list in the future :-&

I remember being like Cailin in 1st tri meat was the worst offender, as well as alchohol... if DH had wine there was no lovin' for him!! LOL!! And I was the bid red drinker pre preg...
-
I have a weird weird smell fascination atm. Funny this topic was brought up!! I LOVE the smell of beer on DH's breath!! I know that is so disgusting etc but for some reason it works for me. Well actually any alcohol. maybe because I cant drink it myself!!
I also love the smell of Velvet soap and Lux washing powder atm too. I will make up some Lux just to smell my hands while I am doing it. I also have been scratching the soap so I have the smell under my fingernails for the day. (I know- how weird am I??)
I also find smoke reeeaally offensive and I also love the smell of coffee. How i have overcome my coffee witrhdraws is i order a double strength decaf. People look at me weird but it almost gives off the same smell!!
Thank goodness I am nearly finished being pregnant!! I can go back to normal!! hehehe
-
i cant stand the taste or smell of coffee, which was the same as with joshua,
this time though im with you on the meat cooking thing, we had some steak the other night and i was almost sick from the smell i ahd to ask anthony to come cook it yuck! but the steak was yummy, even if it was well done when i usually eat it medium

Most of my bath foams now smell yuck to me. The floral stuff actually makes me gag.. really weird.
Monkey's breath is also not good. We can't sleep facing each other, I have to turn away so he doesn't breathe on me. It's okay during the day, but at night I just can't stand the wafts in my face...
-
DH's breathe also set off HUGE alarms during m/s... in fact a few times in the middle of the night I'd be vomitting and he'd be brushing his teeth...
-
Kazz, LOL @ the MIL thing. I have the same problem. Its not the smell of MIL herself but her house. I think its all the meat she cooks or something but every time we visit I feel a bit queasy until its time to go. One of my friends had the same problem (my MIL's house not hers). Lucky for her she's had her baby so she's back to normal.
Also I'm not fond of the smell of raw mushrooms and in the first trimester I couldn't cope with the smell of eggs. I didn't even like to look at egg cartons in the shop.
On the other hand I'm loving the smell of coffee, yummmm and DH smells really nice right now (except morning breath of course) and also boiled Jasmine rice.
-
IKWYM about eggs - even now the smell of them, raw or cooked, makes me feel queasy

Where do I start lol everything stinks at the moment. My biggest puke trigger is cigarette smoke I was a smoker and quit when i got pregnant but hubby is a smoker and although he now smokes outside i still smell it on him and it makes me feel so horrible. I also cant stand most perfumes, most foods, pollution and car fumes etc and TMI but my own fluffys even make me sick. :-&
-
Oooooh toilet spray - Yucko!! I think I would prefer Aaron's smelliness to the toilet spray atm - no matter what scent it is driving me bonkers! BLEURK
-
I realised another one yesterday - petrol! You know when you are at the bowsers filling the car up, well, I'm sitting in the car with the windows up and the smell is still really strong - yuk!
-
i noticed another one yesterday too . michelles pastry place, i had to run past it when we were shopping else i was going to vomit, it was making anthony hungry but me i just wanted to puke..
i agree on the petrol thing aswell
Lesley

Ooooh Lesley I'm like that with the fish shop right next to our supermarket. We have to walk the long way round cos the fish just makes me want to gag. Worse thing is we sell a lot of fish at work & when the guys walk from the freezer through my office into the shop it's horrible.
-
I agree with the petrol smell too. Yuk.
Can dog food and the smell of raw meat is getting to me lately.

When I was pg with DD, I could not stand the smell of onions!
Didn't matter if they were cooked or raw.
This was a big problem as I would have to pick up the lunches for work, and without fail everyday there would be a hamburger with onions on the list. Even worse was the toasted sandwiches they use to get with only steak and onions on it... YUK!!
My little car at the time had no air conditioning and we have a lot of 40 degree days up here, so you could imagine what it was like on the way back to work. :-&

Neil was cooking tacos the other night and the oil heating in the frypan made me run to the loo and do a spew (hey, I rhyme!). Can't stand the smell of dog food (another spew trigger) and I have to be careful doing the dishes because the smell of old food on plates or fry pans sets me right off. Ick! Just the thought of it makes my skin crawl! It's also hard when the kids at school eat their lunch. A lot of them have tuna or salami and it stinks! Ick!
Love the smell of coffee too. I never used to drink it but now I have one every now and then and love it! Not a good time to take up coffee but I figure one every couple of days isn't going to hurt.
-
Onion and garlic! I can pick them on peoples breath a mile away!
And beer breath - YUCK!! But I find if I just have a sip of a beer, no worries. The smell doesn't bug me at all!
Petrol smells really strong too.
Loving the smell of salt water - specially after a hot day! It smells glorious! Loving coffee!
-
Me too Fi! I am in LOVE with the smell of coffee ATM.
I was never a coffee drinker but now I have one every now and then. Amazing, isn't it? Just when I am meant to be cutting out caffiene, it's all I want?? Geeeeez!
-
Old flower water in a vase too, makes me wanna hurl
